Congrats on 5 years!
I started with the Mingo-Kabiska episode and it blew my mind! I loved listening to the old timey radio show. It was a great way to celebrate the podcast’s 5th anniversary. I’ll be binge listening to the back catalogue now for sure!
C$E&@!
I like it!
This podcast is not like what I usually listen to. It has a different format and story telling style than anything I've heard but I find the uniqueness is it's strength. The topics are not what you hear all the time and that's refreshing.

Simply Awful!
There are no words for how bad this is.

Uhhh
This is probably the strangest podcast I’ve ever come across. The episode I listened to was about a fellow who was referred to by his last name which I actually forgot, but let’s call him Johnson. One host was reading the story about him, but every time the name “Johnson” came up, another host said it. Not to mention the bizarrely slow delivery and the dude who recorded his part with a 1980s tape recorder.

Is there a reason they speak that way?
Am I missing something? The hosts speak in such an incredibly unnatural and jilted way, even when I sped up the time to make their speech seem a little more normal, it was robotic and creepy because of the odd pauses they take. I love the idea and the stories but I just can’t stand to listen to their delivery, it’s like nails on a chalkboard. A huge disappointment because the content is exactly what I would love. Maybe have someone else read?

Interesting Stories
The stories are interesting but the delivery and the trading off of sentences are both distracting and unnecessary. I really wanted to like this but can’t get past the weird pauses and stilted delivery. And why on earth is every other sentence read by someone else? It’s actually insane.

Super annoying hosts
Stories are great but the hosts are SOOOOO ANNOYING!!! 🤪 maybe write the stories and get someone else to read them at a “normal speaking pace without the music in the back ground non stop

Interesting Topics & Quality Storytelling
I have been listening to this podcast for the last few months now and while they do occasionally have an errant audio crackle/fuzziness to them- this is not your average studio show. This is a fantastic retelling of historical news stories brought to life by solid research presented by Jim, Kit, and on occasion, Jessica- with wonderful clips and drops recorded from guest contributors. Taken in as the sum of it’s parts, this is a marvelous way to hear interesting content, and to learn new things. I personally thought the recent 7/31 “Swimming Pool” episode was fantastic. To quote President Obama- “Don’t let ‘perfect’ be the enemy of good” - and in telling you that- this is a good* podcast, and well worth listening to.

Good grief
I only tried listening to the last show , which was about Warren, Ohio . These narrators May win for worst ever. The man says 3 words....pause...3 words....pause. The Lost in Space Robot had a more human sounding voice. The Guest Host was worse. Fake voice. Her little TeeHee laugh . She sounds like a cross between an Audio Vanna White and a dollar store commercial. Too bad. Your subjects sound interesting, but I can’t do those hosts. 👎🏼👎🏼

Decent stories if you can suffer through hosts
3 stars for stories, 1 star for mind-blowingly annoying hosts, net 2 stars.

Good ol' fashioned Story telling
These stories are told in a way that allows you to find the information if you wanted to. While at the same time holding it's on as a great story.

Fabulous
The Christmas special is truly special. I’ve already listened to it 3 times. I’ll probably listen to it again and again. Thank you for this .

Annoying podcast
What is going on with the hosts fake laugh or giggle. For the reason alone I can’t listen to this podcast. It’s just too much.
Six sticks
I can’t.
The stories sound absolutely fascinating! However the sound quality is poor. And for some inexplicable reason someone told the female host that her giggle was cute. They lied. I couldn’t even listen to the story because it sounded as though she was attempting a cutesy voice and giggling like a deranged child every 30 seconds. She also has a bit of a speech impediment and speaks very slowly. Nothing wrong with a speech impediment, however it may not be the best idea to use a fake voice and host a podcast if you do have one. I wanted to like this podcast but I can’t actually listen to it because of the high level annoying that overshadows the stories. I’m sure they are lovely people who do very thorough research which is why I gave them at least 2 stars. But I’m sorry. I just can’t listen to this podcast.

Like an old-timey radio show
Just listened to the suicide hall episode. This is so much like an old time radio show. I love the acting bits woven in with the narrative and I've never heard this story before! The history is fascinating.

Ugh, so corny
So corny I couldn’t get through even the intro of several episodes. Unsubbed, and fast. Fake voices and relies heavily on sound effects over content.
Nullity
My favorite
I love history - but sometimes it can be challenging to find shows that keep me engaged- rather than a book report. This by far is not that- an original format & truly overall enjoyable

Totally interesting and unique!
This podcast fills in the historical blanks by telling a wide range of stories dating back to the 1800s. This is such a perfect podcast to put on while you’re in traffic or cleaning your house and don’t want to be bored because it really makes time fly! Binge-worthy and absolutely a must subscribe!

One of the best
Sometimes featuring historic news stories, sometimes historic crime, and many times s mix of both. Meticulously and thoroughly researched by true lovers of history, with Jim providing serious and calm commentary and charming Kit adding humor and occasional chills as she tells you something awful in that sweet voice! For a history buff or researcher this podcast is like hanging out with friends.

Love it!
The Forgotten News Podcast Tells stories from the 1800s and beyond which have been forgotten about. It’s an interesting look at true crime and a truely innovative podcast. It covers a range of stories, not just murder stories but an interesting range of stories such as strange animal sightings and airships. Every second episode is a true crime episode and the alternating episodes are strange or weird news items. - Zimbellina

Awesome Concept
I love this podcast! It is such a great concept to take stories that have been forgotten. We are so accustomed to hearing about the big media covered stories, that we often forget about the stories that were not covered so heavily. The media is a business, and like all businesses, they are out to make money. One part of that is peaking the interest of the consumer. Unfortunately, this means that some crimes/stories in the news do not make headlines nor stay in the light very long. Jim brings these stories back to light. He researches the cases to the fullest and very respectful when dicussing the stories. This is definitely a must listen to podcast! -Heather (Nature vs Narcissism Podcast)

Jim Goodluck is a great storyteller, and the voices he selects bring life to these long forgotten stories. I like the music too!

Kickin' it old skool!
When I first heard about this podcast, I thought it was going to be for revisiting relatively recent news that has been forgotten about in the chaos of the day, but we're going WAAAAAAY back to stories that I'd never even heard to begin with. Always great to learn new things

Interesting and well done
This is such an interesting idea for a podcast! While I don't necessarily love acting segments (on any podcast-personal taste), this show does them very well. I'm intrigued to listen to more, because old news is so interesting!

Don't forget to listen to Forgotten News!
What a unique and wonderful podcast. First what sounds like a Disney princess warns the listener about potential content. It's hard to believe ANYTHING horrible could come out of her mouth. LOL. Next the host tells the story of an old and forgotten story from days gone by. What makes it unique is that 1. He uses only primary sources and 2. He utilizes other podcast hosts as voices when quoting from the newspaper. Much more interesting than just dry reading. I look forward to listening to this podcast grow and continue to get better.

Great
Hearing all my favorite true crime and history podcast era teaming up is awesome

Interesting but amateurish
On the good side, this podcast presents little known but interesting stories from the past. It is always nice to learn of obscure but fascinating parts of our history. However, the presentation is very amateurish. The main narrator's style is tedious and overly deliberate and the occasional commentary by "Annabel" is odd and distracting- her childlike laughter, whatever its intent, misses the mark. Finally, the podcast makes use of spoken quotations from other persons which is overdone and hardly credible.

Really enjoying this
I love history podcasts and weird podcasts and mystery podcasts, so this one scratches every itch. I like that it covers topics I've never heard of. The research is good and I really enjoy how the host presents quotes from his sources by having voice actors and other podcasters read them out. I'm looking forward to seeing how the podcast grows and develops! The contemplative pace, careful warning system for listeners, and respectful tone makes this appropriate for younger listeners and family listening too, which is always a plus.
