My number 1 horror pod cast. The hosts are really starting to gel!

There was a time slashfilm was a solid site for movie news. Then it got sold to a large company and now runs listicles and pointless articles about things the writers read on other sites. This show is the audio version of that. I’d rather hit myself repeatedly in the crotch with a sharp stick than have to listen to this again.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for several years now, and I can confidently say that I *love* the addition of Ryan Scott to the regular lineup. I held off on reviewing for a few months to make sure my opinions were solid, but this guy really has it down. I love his perspectives and his presence behind the microphone, and I love the box-office/business focus he brings to the show. He handles the audio medium extremely well and I hopefully look forward to hearing Ben introduce him in every intro to the podcast! On the down side, it’s incredibly jarring and disappointing when B.J. casually throws out a comment like “we live in a white supremacist society” halfway through her analysis of some movie or book. At a minimum, that claim is simply not relevant to this conversation. I would argue that’s it’s also wildly divisive and not supported by fact, but I don’t think is the medium to discuss that topic— and my main point is that that claim is not at all a widely-held or accepted belief. At this point, she slips in so much political garbage into her analysis that I turn off the episode whenever I hear her introduced.

WHAT happened to PETER

I used to listen to this show on the regular. I was a big fan of Peter, Chris, and Ryan Scott, in particular. I felt that for a long time it was a good mix of personalities with varied and interesting viewpoints. However, Ben and his Uber-left wing slant on everything gets beyond tiring to listen to. We get it, buddy, you’re the most leftiest of the left. You don’t have to ‘virtue signal” all the time, because it is OBVIOUS where you stand politically. Maybe Ben should step aside and go pursue a podcast that deals exclusively with left wing causes, and let Slash Film bring in some new blood as host? Maybe someone who actually cares about discussing the brass tacks of the entertainment industry? Just a thought.

I’m so upset with this podcast. I use to listen to it regularly. But since Peter left they have lost their connection with their audience. Very sad

A show full of men gassing up other men in Hollywood. Even when talking about a movie full of women like Bottoms, they find a way to spend 10 minutes hyping up Marshawn Lynch and no one else in the movie. Their initial talks of Barbie, they spent most of the time talking about Christopher Nolan and Ryan Gosling. And don’t hold your breath for a woman guest speaker, you’ll pass out. BJ Colangelo is a newer and very welcome addition, but one person isn’t a monolith. I’ve been listening for years and am not an avid reviewer but my pattern recognition can’t take it anymore and I just hope this opens eyes and ears to biases.

Good info but sometimes obvious political motivations

I’ve been listening to this podcast since their hay days in the beginning. I LOVED the original group that had formed to its peak right before the pandemic. Understandably, after the pandemic it fell apart. Things happen. But as the entertainment world opened back up,the /Film podcast did not. Peter became obsessed with creating content and, how to make, and who made, the most money in Hollywood. Since he’s retired to do what he’s really into, the podcast is coming back around. Some of the regulars are coming back and the obsession with box office results is receding. I wish they could do more podcasts throughout the week again, I really do enjoy what they have. Ben is a great host and crazy right-wing conspiracy theorist probably don’t even listen to this show.

Have been listening on and off for years. In the Mission Impossible cast one of the guys mentioned that right wing are buying tickets for Sound of Freedom stating that he heard that theaters were sold out but nobody was there. Why mention this when you can’t confirm? It’s pretty sickening that I listen to the podcast for a mediocre take on films because the veteran casters are gone and they decide to force some political view on me. People think it’s ok to push an agenda without proof. Suggest you stick to barely understandable takes on films and avoid politics.

The ignorance around the Sound of Freedom conversation relating to its box office was truly astonishing. The hosts perpetuated the QAnon “adjacent” nonsense of its actor and the real life person he portrayed, don’t bother to mention if they’ve seen the film, the merits of its subject matter, especially that it was a true story and then proceed to spread their own “conspiracy” speculations that the far right-wing is buying up tickets. I know I won’t be missed, but I’ve unsubscribed.

I love this show. I really miss Hoai-Tran Bui though. Chris Evangelista is by far my favorite. Ben Pearson is awesome. BJ is pretty unbearable I have to say. I roll my eyes to 90 percent of the things she says.

Editing, losing a star. 4 minutes of ads BEFORE the show, and more in between? That's insanity. Only rarely okay of the show is offering a premium, ad-free version. But to knock the show down to twice a week AND double the ads is a lot to ask for. The show used to be an everyday staple, where I could look forward to half an hour to an hour of content with a roundtable of fun hosts. Nowadays, it's maybe 3 days a week if we're lucky, one of the days usually taken up by a recap of a Disney+ show (Star Wars, MCU, normally). But I watched those shows so that wasn't an issue. They've also now gotten into ads, which really sours the experience. I know the purpose of ads and revenue, but why now? After years of doing this ad free, why do it now when the show is inconsistent at best? It's a huge turn off. Brad, Ben and newer host Ryan are all great! Love listening to them (go check out Brad's other podcast, "Go Flix Yourself," cause it's great). Miss you, HT!

Ben Pearson just brings so much negative energy. I thought I’d be ok with the moments of the year episode because so many other people were on it. I was wrong, about 40 minutes in he goes on this rant that just sucked all of the light out of the room.

I found this podcast through one of the host’s YouTube channel. These are always entertaining conversations about the latest news. There are a wide variety of perspectives so there is a little bit for everyone here.

I listen and enjoy each of the episodes however it annoys me about the inconsistent audio from episode to episode. Some episodes you can hear each speaker well and others sound poor and not edited properly. I wish that every episode would go through a post audio editing process to make sure each person’s audio is loud enough and doesn’t sound like a poorly recorded zoom conversation. Please make sure each guest microphone volume is consistent. My only other complaint is some of the host are a little too grumpy about movies that they don’t like. I come to this podcast to learn about what’s new in film, not about someone’s cranky, dislike for specific films.

Great movie and entertainment podcast with nice friendly people. You actually care about the people and they give you the best updates.

I've had to turn to other podcasts for my daily dose of film and tv news and it's just not the same. I miss this crew and your unique perspectives on all things film and tv , hope everything is ok and we'll get more steady pods in the future!

I am surprised they have only 100 episodes I feel like I have been listening forever. I follow for the updates and recaps of shows I watch and also for suggestions of new shows. I think I started with Mandolorian. They brought on guests who know their Star Wars cannon unlike me. I like the format of quick news segments or longer show recaps.

Review of She-Hulk episode 2: Two dudes declaring the show just isn’t quite good enough, not funny enough, not of high enough quality… and never once discussing the clear feminist messages from the episode about women in the workplace. Literally, they didn’t even ONCE mention the sharp critique of double-standards and how women have to work 10x as hard to get ahead in professional environments. The level of criticism on this show has diminished over the years, and this latest hit rock bottom.

Reese Witherspoon is the ‘Shepherd’ of Where the Crawdads Sing in the same way JJ Abrams is the shepherd of Star Trek, MI and Star Wars. Hint: She’s the Producer. (Do you root around for what to call JJ Abrams as a producer?) Pretty shocking and disappointing.

I can't listen to every episode but that's not the point. It's daily movie news delivered with style and fun.

I adore this podcast and the site slashfilmcast.com. Truly an amazing team of writers and they are hilarious in podcast form as well. Whether it is Chris’ hilarious and sometimes curmudgeonly takes, HT’s outstanding interview skills, Brad’s appreciation of comedy as a true art form, Peter’s gleeful Theme Park reports, Ben’s love of and constant discovery of classic cinema, or Jacob’s ability to dive deep into the core of why things are so meaningful to him... everyone excels. Very knowledgeable, enjoyable, and easy to listen to. This definitely scratches my itch for tv and movie news

One of my main “go to” podcasts right now. I enjoy listening to Peter and the gang every day talking about film and tv news. Feel like I’ve gotten to know them and I enjoy their personalities. Also enjoy that they talk about random things like theme parks and junk food! Highly recommend.

I really appreciate the variety of this podcast. There are six or so contributors with varying tastes and opinions. You find yourself drawn towards certain hosts with similar tastes, but all the hosts offer great reviews and insight. There is a “water cooler” episode every week or so with suggestions for new things to watch, or even older things to watch that you may have missed. My favorite episodes are the deep dives (mainly of Disney properties or types like HBO Watchmen), which also include some fun fan theorizing along the way.

Did you know the average commute time to work is 26 mins. Which gives us a minimum of approx 8 hours in the car M-F. Having some time to learn about new TV and movie news is great for passing the time. Also the hosts are great. You’ll learn the personalities quickly and probably gravitate towards one or multiple hosts opinions. Give these people a look!

If you like film, and film culture this is an excellent small bite, daily podcasts. The hosts know their stuff and bring a genuine passion to topics that I really haven't heard on a lot of other film podcasts. Give it a shot, I doubt you’re disappointed.

Best way to stay up to date on film news and deep dives on the newest Marvel / Star Wars projects

Excellent daily source of general film/tv news. Podcasters are all well-informed and have great personalities and obvious camaraderie.

I’ve been listening to the Slash Film for a couple years now and have come to look forward to everyones input. Chris can be downright grumpy but he grows in you. However, Ben really needs to raise his game on his microphone, he sounds like he’s in a echo chamber…dude upgrade your microphone or do whatever you have to do to improve the sound.

I have been a fan of Slash Filmcast podcast for years. Found them through Totally Rad Show Summer movie wager. Then became a fan of Peter in Ordinary Adventures. Thank goodness Kitra always plugged his weekly discussion of Mandalorian and WandaVision. Now I am hooked. Thanks for all the great discussion and content!

But Ben is good too...

I love this podcast. News, and also mailbag episodes are my favorite. I like the water cooler episodes as well. Five stars for content. The only constructive criticism I can provide is that the audio and editing is a bit rough. Last week, during the water cooler episode, midway it jumped to the end, and then at the end it jumped back to the middle. If production were improved, it would be an A+ pod.

I don't always agree with their reviews, but that's okay because the hosts seems like friendly, good people. I especially like HT Bui. I like how Water Cooler discusses all sorts of movies, old and new, that makes me curious about checking some out. Wish the news stories was more immediate, but I do like how they provide their thoughts on it, instead of just reporting it.
