Excellent show that has changed
It’s difficult for me to accept how much this show has changed over the years. I miss the video game reviews and discussion and I’m disappointed that they don’t cover games anymore—it wasn’t just Carolyn, Anita used to be a gamer too. The only time they’ve covered any games in the past year or so, they had random people on discussing random games that no one cares about. If I had to give the podcast a rating, I’d say now that Kat Spada is on board, it’s back up to a 4, but for me the average is 3 or 3.5. Some of the good faith criticism in these reviews is correct in characterizing the frustration with this show. So why the 5 stars? Because worthless pieces of trash give it only 1 star out of hate and this is to make up for that.

Good, thoughtful podcast
But please fix the mic volume issue on the latest (Dune) episode and re-upload it! I can’t be the only person who couldn’t listen to it because the switching between hosts—who were quiet—and guest—VERY loud—hurt my ears!

An important podcast
Terrific hosts. I don’t always agree with them but the conversations they start are important conversations to have. I thank them for making me more aware of others’ perspectives and for helping me better understand my own convictions.

Decent analysis
Some of the analysis is decent. It would be nice to have a podcast like this (that thoughtfully critiques media) but is hosted by people who actually… like stuff. Anita hates most nerdy things. So, the whole “criticizing the media we love” thing is lost, because she’s usually just criticizing media she hates. Maybe most stuff just isn’t for her.

Great analysis well-stated
Thanks for a valuable—and entertaining—show. Your thoughtful analysis never disappoints. You discuss incredibly important things, and I’d love to say I’ve already thought about all of them on my own… but I haven’t. Such is my privilege as a middle-aged white dude. As for all the fragile, whiny white dudes throwing out one star reviews? Hopefully it’s an honor to be hated by those ignoramuses!

Depends on your opinions of what they review
Let me say up front: I love their personalities, and it’s clear these are 3 smart ladies with a lot of smarts and good chemistry. So why only 3 stars? Tl;dr- it’s fun when you want them to rip apart a problematic movie or show; but, much like CinemaSins, don’t expect them to warmly lift up media you like. Longer explanation: the hosts have a tendency to review media for what they wish it was, rather than what it is. For example: as soon as they started reviewing the FX/Hulu series Mrs America, they started by saying they would’ve preferred a show on the Combahee River Collective, or other movements that weren’t predominantly upper class white women. And while I get that criticism, they used it as the main criteria for the show, rather than evaluating its stated goals and how well it executed them, which is what most reviewers tend to do. In closing: I know Anita Sarkeesian has gotten a LOT of harassment and bad faith criticism. This is intended to be good faith criticism and not harassment, because as the hosts continually remind us: we should criticize stuff we love.

Holy S**t
Anita Sarkeesian? I thought she died? Or at least withered away from the internet. I guess a leech will always find its way.

interesting points made
they bring up a lot of very valid criticisms and points that often get overlooked in media and approach these issues from different perspectives. very solid podcast in my books.

Fun Feminist Dissections of Media
I started listening to this podcast in its younger days and it has only gotten better! Each host has a unique perspective and is willing to dig deep into media. I don’t always agree with their opinions, but they always give me something to think about. This is a great podcast for people who want detailed discussions about film, TV, books etc. that consider the real world impact of media.

Nahh chief
Kinda toxic, I get what they mean but nahh chief there’s better ways for this message, my mom is a strong independent woman and she didn’t do it whining about it on a podcast, she put in work to get ahead in life not wanting attention but seeking success

Toxic
They’re filled with hate although it only comes out in words at a time but since they’re feminist and “progressive” they’re aloud to be hateful to whatever they disagree with and get a pass.

Toxic Feminism is still Toxic

Unintelligent Communist Ramblings via Snowflakes
I’d say this podcast is garbage but they say one mans trash is another mans treasure, and this podcast couldn’t be anyone’s treasure. At least no one with a functioning brain, but I doubt this podcast has many intelligent listeners. These three woman are the type that have zero skills, terrible personality’s and alarmingly low IQs, and yet still manage to blame society for everything. Feminism is one of the most toxic cults in modern society, and every single statistic backs that up. I cannot say enough bad things about these attention seeking brainwashed liberal pigs. Absolutely disgusted. These developmentally challenged scum are an big insult to women that have actually made something out of themselves.

Feminism Friends
I don’t listen to every single episode but I love this pod. I love all the different opinions shared. It’s funny informative and fun. It’s wonderful outlet for women like me who don’t know a lot of feminists in person and is sometimes afraid to share their thoughts about feminism. Thank you ladies.

Kinda reductive?
Nothing against these women, but their podcast is kinda reductive, it’s like how Pod Save America is with politics. Carolyn and Anita especially have a hard time viewing different mediums outside of their own narrow mindsets. While I do enjoy a lot of the discussion, their two viewpoints are why I forget to tune into this show. Ebony is the only person who seems to have any nuance, especially when the subject of discussion involves POC. I think she tends to have the most thoughtful examination of subjects and I always enjoy hearing what she has to say. I myself am a feminist, and no I don’t think these women hate men or anything, but sometimes I just think tear things down because they don’t understand it because frankly it wasn’t made for them. If they started understanding and approaching subjects through different lenses I think it would help.

The Worst Kind of Feminism
It’s that kind that demonizes men and masculinity. Be prepared to hear “straight white male” said in that way that you know is accompanied by eye rolls and an annoyed affectation.

Fem freak
My new favorite podcast. A deep dive into feminism and how it relates to pop culture from diverse perspectives. And a good place for media recommendations. I’ve been a fan of Anita’s since her YouTube series.
FreiGuy86
Seriously informative and thought provoking content.
I’d first of all like to take a moment to say that Caroline, you are the best ever. Secondly, I love you three, and thanks for discussing content in this frank and wildly necessary manner.

A Vital Podcast
You can play it safe with other podcasts but if you want a show that challenges you, a show that is a complex and intimate take on gender equality vs. pop culture that’s also full of honesty and smart snarky humor you can’t get any better than this. Do yourself a favor and tune in.
PMartnzandMe
Amazing
This is such an informative but also fun podcast. The women are so real and refreshing! Plus their views, though extreme, are always fair. I’ll be a listener for life!

10/10 will continue to watch
This is a great listen, definitely recommend if you enjoy media analysis and feminist catharsis. I love catching up on these three’s take on recent media and view through both a feminist and personal lens each week. 👍🏻🤓 P.S. Anita, would you mind explaining how Héla is sexualized? I have a guess but I haven’t heard anyone with the same take anywhere online, I’m genuinely interested in your thoughts.

<3 to Anita and Caro and Ebony
I remember when the Tropes v Women in Videogames series came out on Youtube, I thought Anita Sarkeesian was maaaaaybe wrong (I was dating a dude who HATED her, surprise!), but media analysis was fun and what's the big deal? After learning about the HORRIBLE way she was treated, I've come to really admire her and her work. Anita on the podcast is more fun and casual than in the Youtube series, and I love the chemistry and range of topics she covers with her other co-hosts. Well worth checking out!

The feminist podcast I’ve been looking for
I found you at last! I just listened to the episode about John Wick 3, and after listening in particular to Ebony’s analysis about how tortured John Wick is and how much his beautifully rendered inner pain makes you NOT want to be John Wick, I finally feel ok about how much I love the John Wick movies. So thank you for that! And, in general, I’m so glad to have found this podcast — it is the first one I’ve found that is the perfect balance of feminist voices, the ideal blend of insight and humor, and the right-on focus on overcoming patriarchy within and without.

Boring
I have nothing against these people or their point of view They are just so predictable. Not once have I heard them respond in a manner differently then I assumed their opinions would be. If you heard one episode you’ve heard them all.

Amazing!!
I absolutely love this show, I listen to it every week. I’m just a 17 yr old boy in small town conservative Iowa so it’s nice to actually be able to hear quality feminist critique of media, I love this podcast, I love tropes against women, I love everything you guys do. Xoxo

What a delight!
This podcast provides a lot of great insights into pop culture and views pieces of media from many different lenses (enjoyment, craft, political messages, story, representation, etc.) The conversations are often thoughtful and funny and the co-hosts are quite charming and endearing. They often own their own biases and preferences and I always feel interested about how they came to their perspectives. They also talk honestly about creating something that doesn't have a blueprint amid the hostility of online harassment. It's quite comforting and inspiring. Looking forward to the new ep every week!

Feminist takes on all the latest culture news? Yes please.
I've found so many pieces of media to love through this podcast. It's also helped me sort out my conflicted feelings about different media and their analysis is always on point. I love the diversity of perspectives and humor they each bring. I've loved Anita for a long time, and Caro and Ebony bring such incredible knowledge and joy. Some of the movies they talk about are way esoteric for me, a 90s baby, but it's still fun to learn.

It’s like, uh
If you enjoy hearing like uhh like uhh like like like like like like uhh like uhh like uhhh then you’ll like uhh really like enjoy this. Also it’s great for getting cancer in your ears. These are three racist bigots who HATE white people. Which is fine, as a red blooded American I support free speech even if it is absolutely abhorrent and hypocritical in the extreme. But make no mistake, these people cannot control themselves or their emotions nor function in a free society so they want to regulate everyone else’s behavior and speech. Because they don’t want to be “triggered” they hate white people, the police, America, free speech. They’re all about class warfare of the post modern neo Marxist variety. They cannot even see the world, reality as it is, everything is skewed and defiled by their insane social justice ideology. I listen so I can at least be informed about these psychopaths. And they receive so much money from their listeners and supporters. They’re blowing their noses with hundred dollar bills. Yet they hate capitalism.

One of the girls
Listening to Anita, Carolyn and Ebony is like hanging out with my friends. I constantly feel like I’m learning something new, staying on top of what’s happening in pop culture and definitely having a laugh. For real though, Ebony is hilarious. Big fan of all of Feminist Frequency’s work- videos and now podcasts. Thanks y’all!

A great way to get to know FemFreq
FemFreq's videos are so polished, and I love to see the minds behind the channel unwind, rage and laugh about pop culture. Thanks for providing me new perspective and introducing me to some cool new things.

This is awful.
You’re not making feminism better, you’re making humanity worse.
Fellacopter
Im a conservative white bisexual male.
I tried this podcast out hoping to broaden my way of thinking but all of their feminist views are complete bull. You guys act like all women are victims yet you talk about empowerment and all men are these terrible creatures yet you talk about getting rid of sexism. Open your eyes. It’s not the 50s. Third wave feminism is a joke
MoonknightXxX2
Don’t believe misinformation, make your own opinion.
This podcast is really funny and there are surprising insights from all the co-hosts. Haters are going to tell you all sorts of awful things about Anita Sarkeesian but if you rock with messages of feminism and equality, it’s well worth a listen.

Casual chats from Fem Freq make for a comfy listen
The podcast is a much lighter, much more casual approach from the previously highly scripted Sarkeesian videos of years past, and is a highly enjoyable listen. Anita, Carolyn and Ebony are incredibly likeable and approach political and social commentary in a casual, conversational style.
