Really?
Why is Star Trek now politically biased? Where did “all inclusive” go?

Poor podcast all the way around
The host while knowledgeable tends to rant, making it hard to follow along. His interview aren’t as much interviews as much as they are him bouncing things off his guest like a soundboard. I’m not surprised that this podcast was scrapped by CBS.

Sone good info but to politically correct

Keep modern politics out of Trek
I don’t listen to Star Trek podcasts to hear what the hosts think of modern day politics. I also don’t like hearing the host vilify those with whom he disagrees. Stick to talking about Trek please.

The never-ending story of Star Trek
Matt, Andy thank you! I was and TNG fan as a kid and any episode i missed on first airing i would catch after school at 4pm. So i can mostly remember each episode without having to rewatch. I only tuned in about a month ago and binged this exclusively at the expense of all my other podcasts on my two plus hours a day of commuting. I just have to say how delightful it was to never seem to catch up as your episodes get longer and longer. I waited to review this until i caught up and i look forward to joining the Admiral’s club next week! Secunda! *I am a saucer section listener! You do whats best for you Matt! P.S. Matt there is a Highlander Podcast called Highlander Rewatched that you would enjoy.

It’s over!
When this show first came on, I was excited! I appreciated the host’s enthusiasm for Star Trek and some of the guests. I didn’t appreciate his lack of basic story arcs or his shallow understanding of the content. To say that he forgave Discovery for all of the missteps it took, us an understatement, which sounds impossible. However, with not knowing much about Star Trek or appreciating the source material, that’s what happened. Anyway, I gave it a shot and I’ve said my piece. RIP

Lame
It’s overly political and overly corporate. If I wanted to get that I’d log into Facebook or turn on the news. Glad the door has been closed and the windows shuttered on this travesty.

Arrogant, Annoying
Host is arrogant and ignorant. The show is a morning DJ type disaster. Shame on CBS. This is worse than a few kids’ amateur show. Stop talking over each other. Stop speculating tangentially, and getting off-track about other shows, like Star Wars. Do your research about things off air and not on air over your iPhone on Google. Learn how to pronounce names and words, by doing your research beforehand. You guys started off well but by Dec17/Jan18 it was garbage.

Good balance of complete insider nerdom and entry level geekology for Trek fans young and old.
Jordan is an excellent host and interviewer. The guests seem to be enjoying themselves as much as I am as the listener. Keep up the good work! 🖖🏼

The sound quality makes it almost unlistenable
I do enjoy this podcast, but the audio quality in the last couple episodes is atrocious.

Engage is great
I love all the parts of this podcast. I love when the have the cast on. I also like the commentary. I just love this, so I can keep up with the Star Trek news. Now that Discovery is on, it is great to hear the commentary on each episode.

meh
As a trekkie, I can't not listen. Jordan is very knowledgable about all things Trek. But he talks too much. Rambles. And his interviews are as much about him as they are about the guest. Still, a good companion to the Transporter Room 3 podcast (on which Jordan has been a guest several times).

Well-informed Show
A fun and informed look at Trek past, present, and future. Really enjoy the Discovery recaps. Jordan does an excellent job.

Just plain fun
Fun, informative, good for fans who want to know more and stay up to date on all things Trek. Casual and laid back although Jordan’s energy and enthusiasm can become contagious

Good, but stop drinking while recording.
This is an official podcast. Step the the professionalism. I don’t need to hear you drinking and swallowing on open mic.

Terrible Host
This podcast started out strong. That is until Jordan Hoffman was allowed to run his rather large mouth a little too freely. What was once a must-listen for any Trekkie turned in a pedestal for Jordan to blast his political views. If you don't agree with his views, expect to be insulted regularly. I think the only thing that could save this show is a new host.

Solid Trek Cast
This is a solid, conversational Trek cast.
coltsman8989
Informative, but....
Has some interesting factoids and inside info about Trek, including recent developments. I would enjoy it more if the host would talk less when he has a guest on the show. Why have a guest if you're going to do all the talking?
SpaceCase2
A fun listen
I enjoy this podcast very much. The host is knowledgeable and passionate about Star Trek.

a title
Probably the most annoying thing about this show is the host. Like many podcast and radio hosts, he can talk a lot and say little. This can work in radio, which is real time, but in podcasting, you edit the show and do NOT have to endlessly talk. The host also makes a number of assumptions about the political views of the listeners. Some of the content is pretty good though, and I regularly listen.

Awful
Unlistenable drivel. Like being blighted with the aphasia virus. For example the gaming episodes were poor commercials for current products with little discussion of the large (and sometimes awful) world of gaming going back to the 1980s. And they went into long digressions that had nothing to do with Star Trek (the podcaster's current left wing propaganda, and movie projects only with the most tangential relation to the subject matter). I've had bowel movements with greater insight into the world of Star Trek. Like a Pakled ship, it has stolen precious moments of my life that could have been spent more productively watching water boil. Hard pass.

Love!
Funny and entertaining. I see some people complaining that all they want to hear about is ST but I love that they relate it to other subjects.

Had to redact my previous review
This podcast doesn't know what it wants to be. It would be great if there was more Trek in this Trek podcast. Jordan comes across as more than a little spoiled and entitled and not very listenable. Have fun with Trek but don't insult it. His guests are snarky in a brat way not in a funny way. Lot of better Trek podcasts out there especially Mission Log.

Just had to give it up
I gave this podcast about 30+ episodes and to be honest it just never was that great. I am a big Star Trek fan and had some high hopes for it. The host is just terrible. I am sure he is a good writer but it does not mean he is a good podcast host. It is disorganized, rambling, and just off topic. That is what kills it for me.

Disappointing
I was so excited when this podcast was announced, because I was sure an official Star Trek podcast would be great. But after listening to the first few episodes, I had to give up. The guests and interviews frequently had nothing at all to do with Star Trek or were tangentially related. The podcasts were very long but lacking in substance, and I dislike the host. This is mostly because he has a set of unusual habits -- like frequent sniffing, and unusual pacing of his speech -- that made him incredibly hard for me to listen to. I actually thought he might have a cold or something at first, but after several episodes it became clear that this is just how he always sounds. I can't take it, especially not for an hour or more at a stretch. I also thought he came across as arrogant and dismissive, and not really capable of connecting to people. I stopped listening before anything got political, so that is not a factor for me, and this isn't about that at all. He is just not at all likable.

Not very good
Propaganda machine, trek fm has much better podcasts. Even Trekcast is better. Host is boring and doesn't have enough knowledge to host a trek podcast by himself. It's like listening to talk radio sponsored by paramount. Very little to keep me interested, if it doesn't get better I will drop it.
JroShizza
Yes. More.
I was hesistant to check out the "official" podcast at first. I thought it would be all CBS/Paramount infotainment. BUT IT ISN'T! Jordan knows his Trek and it shows! His enthusiasm and pop culture knowledge make him a great host for this type of program. Worth a listen!

Gene's Spinning
I really wanted to like this podcast. I grew up a huge fan of all things Star Trek and was very excited when I discovered this podcast online. I listened to several episodes, trying to give it a chance, but this is the worst kind of fan-sploitational garbage. The host is a blow-hard, thinks-he-knows-everything, thinks-he's-hilarious, distracted phony. He sounds like a combination of the worst kind of Star Trek fan and a right wing shock jock talk radio host, complete with an opioid addiction. When he interviews guests, he is clearly not listening to a word the guest says. As soon as the guest gives an indication that they're done speaking, the host dials up a fake laugh, or an uncommitted response, before reading off his next question. This man either hates what he does, or is simply incapable of applying himself. It often takes over five minutes of advertisements just to begin the podcast, and once it finally gets going they frequently start shilling expensive fan experiences... Don't waste your time. The experience of listening to this podcast made me question the franchise's ability to continue to stay relevant. Instead of making me proud of being a Trekkie, it made me want to turn my back on Star Trek forever. Just terrible.

A Great Cross-Section of Trek
This podcast has really grown on me. It's truly found it's voice as a profile of all things Trek. Jordan has a great, casual style and he seems pretty free to be candid about his likes and dislikes of the franchise (this was previewed in his handful of guest appearances on the equally enjoyable Transporter Room 3 podcast). I look forward to seeing where it goes with the coming of Discovery. PS: Unless you are really into Weird Al, skip episode one. It's so tangentially related to Star Trek that it's an odd choice for a first episode. It's not really reflective of the rest of this Trekked-out podcast.

Essential listening for anyone who loves all things Trek.

Enjoyable
I mostly have a good time listening to Jordan and his guests. Hearing all kinds of Star Trek alumni is really cool. He also has other guests who, more or less can be associated with Trek. The show is still pretty new and has lots of room to grow. Jordan is a very positive minded person and you will only hear good things about Star Trek from him. I'm sure he has some negative feelings about things though you will never here them on his show. Which is a shame because I really like Jordan and, would like to hear more of his personal opinions about things that might not be so friendly. But I don't think that will happen on the podcast. Maybe I'll have a beer with him someday and ask. Until then I'll still be listener, and you should be too.

If You're Patient, It Can Be Fun!
The best parts of this podcast are when the very enjoyable host totally geeks out with guests, and you are simply invited to listen in on their private conversation. Great guests, quite informative, and clearly, host Jordan has a joy and passion for all things Sta Trek. The mild drawback is the somewhat casual manner of his hosting - betrays either a low budget to give him little time to prepare and edit - or a disregard for the high level of quality we're used to hearing from professional newsreaders and media people. Perhaps we shouldn't judge people at that level, but we rarely listen to poorly recorded music either. Two things are hard to deal with. One are the commercials - he was rude about one former sponsor - the kiss of death, as other potential sponsors will fear the same treatment, AND their paying his bills! - and his later sponsor's commercial elements are endlessly long. The second is his open espousal of one side of the political spectrum, with no patience for opposing views - very unTrek-like. Not bad I suppose if you happen to agree with him. I do keep listening. I've learned to time and skip the commercials.

That Is Why Trump Won
I was excited to subscribe to this podcast when I learned of it. I prefer "official" podcasts to ones recorded by fans. But to my dismay, I ran across the episode named "Trek Against Trump". You should have kept politics out of your discussions. You probably alienated half of your listeners. "Celebrities" trying to tell people how to vote is one of the many reasons that Trump won the election.

Tried this podcast, and the host went off on Donald Trump... Stick to trek

So disappointed
I had high hopes for this podcast. Every now and then, they'll drop a random profanity. A couple of f-words on episode 28. Two episodes now about the election, one anti-Trump and this one (#28) just rambling about the election, Westworld and Dune. I turn to Star Trek for entertainment and escapism. If I wanted political commentary, I can find that elsewhere. Was hoping for official inside scoop on Star Trek. I gave it more than enough of a chance.

Too Political
If the host would try to keep his political views out of the episodes, he might find the podcast subscription double. Why would anyone risk alienating half of the potential audience?
JPGault
Not as inclusive as you may like.
I don't mind some political speak in an arbitrary sense, but this goes a little too far. Jordan is great when talking about Trek, but he deviates too far into politics. As a centrist, I don't get personally offended by Jordan's political views (I actually agree with quite a bit of what he believes), but it does come from a biased, not impartial place, and that's not the message of inclusion and tolerance of Trek. I come to hear about Trek, not politics. Maybe I should give it a shot now that the election is over, but I just hope it becomes a safe place to hear about Trek and not a soapbox.

Terrible
An absolutely terrible podcast. Mostly off putting an uninteresting commentary by the host on such a great subject. He also makes plenty of time to disrespect and belittle members of his audience who hold differing political views from himself. The podcast is anything but engaging, don't waste your time with it unless they change the awful host.
Williams_79
Propaganda and political shame
I was expecting an official podcast to be professional. By was I wrong. This last episode the host said that people who voted for Trump needs mental help. No matter your politics that is not cool. If you can't keep your political slant off an official podcast about Star Trek, then perhaps you shouldn't be podcasting.

How to insult half of your listeners
This podcast could be good and most of the time is. But the host is so enclosed in his liberal bubble that many times it comes off as a promote liberalism podcast rather than a Star Trek podcast. Prior to the election he stated: 98% of the listeners to this podcast will be voting for Hillary Clinton. What an absurd statement. Star Trek fans who would be listening to the podcast come from all walks of life and the entire spectrum of political ideology. It would be more intelligent to assume that, like the country, around 50% of the listeners voted for Hillary Clinton. On the day of the election, he, along with his guest, openly insulted and mocked conservatives. On the episode after the election, he stated: Nobody listening to this podcast voted for Trump, and if they did, they need to have their head examined. It appears that he wants it to be a self fulfilling prophecy and eliminate any conservative listeners. A few questions for the host: Do you not have any conservative friends or colleagues? Are you open minded as long as the person thinks like you? Are you in such a bubble that you cannot relate to 50% of the country? Since this is the “Official Podcast” does that mean that CBS has no problem with you insulting half of the audience? Wrong thinking is punishable. Right thinking will be as quickly rewarded.

One of the worst podcasts I've ever heard
I listened to this podcast for 10 episodes because I wanted to be fair. And what I came away with was very little positive. This is effectively a "celebrity of the week" talking about Star Trek, which is fine in concept. The execution is horrible. There are no in depth questions of the guests, no deep discussions about Trek, and worse, Jordan (the host) seems to know nothing about the guests until they are on the show. The result is meandering conversations that go nowhere and take far too long to say nothing and make no attempt for us to really get to know the guest and the impact Star Trek had on them. I especially have to call out Jordan for being one of the worst hosts of anything I have ever heard. He talks over guests all the time, and even when expressing his own opinion, he can barely speak what is on his mind. I'd hoped this would improve as episodes went on, but it's actually gotten worse! He interrupts guests like he knows what they're going to say......and then he's wrong. This makes the show VERY hard to listen to. There are many other Star Trek podcasts that are more thoughtful, professional, and entertaining than this one. Stay away!

It's Official... but not that good.
I have now fought my way through all 27-extant episodes. I find the host Mr. Hoffman an enthusiastic host, but not very good. I have greatly enjoyed his guests and the access that is afforded the show being the official conduit for the franchise. The pointless and gratuitous use of sound effects is terrible. There have been jarring problems with edits, cringe-worthy advertisements, and repeated segments. I don't normally advocate for negative online discourse, however I make an exception for Star Trek. This beloved franchise deserves better. If the podcast is to continue with Mr. Hoffman at the helm please add a calmer cohost with a more firm knowledge-base of the subject.

Official Trek
With the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek in 2016, I looked for new ways to expand and celebrate my fandom. As soon as I heard that Star Trek was mounting an official podcast, I asked permission to immediately come aboard. First, for those are shy of a corporate owned podcast: this is anything but censored or controlled. Host Jordan Hoffman has a unique voice and strong opinions that he shares with the audience. Each episode focuses around an interview or news topic, which works well. The interviewees have been diverse and fascinating. Everyone from fans, superfans, cast, crew, and friends of the host have joined the discussion. In a big anniversary year, it’s appreciated the CBS Paramount saw the need to have a place to share announcements and discussions. The podcast has gotten political on occasion, but Star Trek has always been an allegory to show the negatives of this world and how we can change them. Thank you for your all your Jordan and crew!

Trek against Trump episode
Please keep the political stuff away from Trek...I for one find Trek to be an escapist persuit and could give a rip about the producers politics.
Docmeat
Disgusting
I love Star Trek but the idea that Trek would support someone as heinous and dishonest and despicable as Hillary Clinton makes me SICK. And I am not a Trump supporter. But of all the candidates I have seen, Hillary is the least honest by a LONG shot. If STar Trek supports her, I no longer support Star Trek. Period.

Just like Star Trek itself, needed a few episodes to get good!
I'd never heard of Jordan Hoffman before seeing him host panel after panel at Star Trek Mission NYC 2016. Then I binged his whole podcast and it's been a treat. Any Star Trek fan that listens to podcasts should give this a listen.

This host goes way off topic and interrupts his guests
This interviewer goes off topic into tangents that don’t matter to anyone. Way off. He interrupts his guests and talks about his experiences instead. Leaves the guests annoyed and obviously struggling to remain polite. Wow. I’m rooting for you because you are a true trek fan but you need to calm down and stop drinking coffee before you do these. Most people get really annoyed when you talk all over them. I will change my review if you improve.

Always a good time!
So far, the interviews have been interesting, funny and informative. This seems like a podcast readymade for both experts in Star Trek and newcomers -- that's an admittedly difficult balance to strike, but Jordan Hoffman finds the correct middle ground. It does appear the best ones are when Hoffman knows the gueset -- there's a great camrarderie that's obvious. Keep up the good work.

Jordan Hoffman should be a Professor at Starfleet Academy
Start at the Episode Zero, then hit Episode 7. Then go backwards, then go forward again. He's got great candid discussions w/everyone from Nana and George to Picardo and Dominic and Connor (hilarious). He gets behind the scenes on the Intrepid, throws in real science as it relates to Trek, has inside info, talks about current Trek events, and most important is a real Trek fan. Engage!
