Surprised at some low reviews . Some may not be into what they research, find and discuss, but that shouldn’t skew the reviews. The way they present the topics and research them is fabulous and they include humor. I get that you may not be interested in some of the topics , but they do a great job and I love this podcast!

Interesting topics are covered. But the hosts are a bit too giggly and easily amused. They sort of have stereotypical “morning TV host” perky personalities which is a bit annoying to listen to.

Love the show, big fan. However this review pertains to the two most recent episodes on secret tunnels. I gave you a 4.9 out of 5 because you missed an opportunity to include a snippet of the song “Secret Tunnel” from the show Avatar the Last Airbender. I waited to no avail. Perhaps you can redeem yourselves by bringing me on the show.

This show is awesome. I love all of the episodes except for the one about Carnivore diets. You would have been better informed to have interviewed Dr. Shawn Baker. I think Paul Saladeno is a total A-hole. I was a vegetarian for 23 years I have epilepsy which was awful and began suffering from an autoimmune disease. All of this improved when I started slowly converting to a meat-based/carnivore thing. Sadly there’s no mention in this episode of how carnivore people are encouraged to eat ethically sourced and regenerativly farmed animals which is an answer to a lot of climate concerns with factory farming.

What would it cost me to get Ben and Amory to be woken up by having a bucket of water dumped on their head?

Entirely too sympathetic to pedophiles/child predators. A mental illness? Give me a break. This is not “problematic” they have entirely brought any consequences on their own heads.

Love how this podcast literally shows up whenever even amongst the fog of war!

As a scientist I was a little confused about asking a gender studies ecologist to comment on the invasive species story. It soon became clear that neither knew the dangers of ecological destruction caused by invasive species, or at least downplayed it in an attempt to draw parallels to immigrants. While the two may share some commonalities, both hosts seemed far too uninformed about the topic and more worried about prioritizing “xenophobic” language about plants instead of eradicating things like zebra mussels that cost billions of dollars of damage in the Great Lakes. Idiotic.

But (were you waiting for a but?) the latest episode on 15-minute cities didn’t acknowledge the people who commute to cities for work out of necessity. In many places, driving more than 15 minutes is a simple math solution to the relative excess of occupations in areas with more housing/more expensive housing compared to rural or suburban areas. Zoning changes and support for small businesses have to come first. Radical or ‘futurist’ thought experiments (beautiful as they may be) are valuable only as such unless we solve the immediate causes imo

I’ve been a listener since day one, but this podcast rarely covers any of the interesting content found on Reddit anymore. I’ve tried to continue listening, but it no longer catches or holds my interest. Sadly, I guess it’s finally time to unsubscribe.

This podcast has made really fun episodes where the hosts would track down internet mysteries and find backstories to internet content. It was always a little scripted but it was engaging. I’m finding myself losing interest, as Amory seems to be more distant from the content and the focus of the show has shifted. The most recent episode is about Ben and Quincy commenting about the earthquake in Turkey. While this is an important topic, it is a shift in mood from previous episodes. I used to come to this show for lighthearted content, but now I find the podcast to be banal and tedious. Please bring back more of Amory’s laughter.

Truly disappointed in the episode Worm Wars where they talk about how we shouldn’t be racist to plants and insects. Like, I believe there are racism issues present in ecology, but it is not about wanting to eradicate invasive species which are proven to be harmful to our environments. They drew comparisons to how our culture talks about immigrants and didn’t mention that the real issue is dehumanizing human beings and instead focused on how this was unfair to invasive species. When a host mentioned that the invasive plants in their yard seem really bad, the response was that “plants have always moved around the globe” and that the idea of a native plant is socially constructed. Do they not realize how they sound anti-global warming people use “the planet has always had climate changes” or how people will downplay racism will bring up “we all came from Africa”? Ask anyone who knows about the subject and they will say the issue is THE RATE at which our environments are changing and being taken over by invasive species and that it is caused by humans and is largely preventable. Just because one professor somewhere has an idea doesn’t mean it is good or worthwhile.

These stories are weird, funny, and so human. This podcast is good for the world by reminding us there is kindness on the internet. I love Amory & Ben.

What a disappointment. Listening to the softball examination of cryptocurrency on this blog at such a late date is incredible. You guys had a chance to really ask the hard questions and you flinched.

I recently discovered this show and I really like the content and topics chosen. However, I find the banter between the hosts to be extremely distracting. Like it feels like they are flirting instead of just chatting, which would be okay, but then the dude talks about his wife and kids. Am I reading too much into the giggling? Probably. But it definitely crosses the distracting line for me.

Wish the dialogue wasn’t so scripted

I really liked the show until Ben Brock made fatphobic comments, joked about diabetes, and also said something about people becoming like the movie wall-e. Like truly dude, Reddit is bad enough, why are you bringing that truly awful nonsense to what could be a great radio show? Armory on the other hand is a delight and doesn’t make alienating comments

The hosts make too many inane comments which ruin the stories. It used to be better. Don't know what happened. They are like children trying to call attention to themselves. Sad!!

Used to be a fun podcast, now it’s yet another place for inane woke nonsense.

I used to love this show! I would look forward to every new episode to see what they were going to dig up on Reddit in a guaranteed fun and drama-less way. No controversy, just fun! But over the last year or two things have become increasingly political. It’s almost like every other show they talk about has to do with politics and pushing their own liberally-minded agenda. It was a show that I used to get away from all the politics, news and division, but it feels as if they have taken up a self-righteous banner of “important” topics and slowly inoculating their listeners to think like them. “And for those reasons, I’m out.”

And why does one of the female hosts keep giggling at his “jokes”? They are not remotely and she knows it. So annoying. And makes half of the content so hard to listen to.

This sounds like what The American Life used to be like!!

I like most of the topics and comments, but, Amory, please please stop giggling.

Less than 5 because their dialogue can sound forced/scripted or like the hosts don’t have chemistry, which makes it harder for easy listening. But I’ve learned some cool things from the podcast and if the topic interests me I’ll normally listen!

I love this show. I’ve heard so many smart, interesting stories about topics that are familiar and important to me, and about topics that I would never have even come across without the hosts! They feature so many fascinating, diverse voices, and tell stories with humor, empathy, and smarts. Some of my favorite episodes: Shipwrecked (on grief), Pile of Crockery (internet mystery on random pile of dishware in the middle of the woods), One Pixel at a Time (on collaborative pixel art), and MEMES Part 4: Woman Yelling at Cat (examining meme culture and taking a deep dive into the humanity behind these images).

One of the hosts seems like they’ve never used the internet and the other thinks they’re extremely online but is just an old person who scans Reddit for content. Bad and annoying.

While the subject matter is absolutely fascinating, some of the forced jokes completely disrespect the material at hand. All of the puns seem inexpert and desperate. If there's humor to be had, let it come naturally, don't force it.

Recent episodes are very different from the show I originally subscribed to. Very political, a little condescending at times. I absolutely believe creators should be able to take their podcasts/work in whatever direction they wish, just don’t act surprised when some listeners decide it’s not for them. Reading the bad reviews for a laugh was the last straw for me- I would have loved to hear them actually address it and talk about the direction of the show. Oh well.

Delicious pomposity meet delectable liberalism. The sum is even greater than the parts. This potent Death Star of a podcast renders all competing podcast mere flaccid echoes of its brilliance.

You don’t have to be riveted to Reddit to enjoy this at all (since Reddit is just an summation of all the things, anyway) These trained journalists know how to put together an entertaining, high production-level show.

Endless Thread is always thought provoking and entertaining. It’s the reason I finally joined Reddit last year. And one of the reasons I became a WBUR donor. I hope the show never ends!

I don’t write many reviews for podcasts, but I have essentially gotten up to speed with almost every popular show in the podcast universe. Endless thread stands out because the topics can be mysterious and simultaneously joyful to listen to, which makes the show stimulating, but not distracting. Perfect for listening while working and taking walks

Even when they cover the tough topics, Amory and Ben are always measured, thoughtful, and funny when appropriate. I love the dynamics, the jokes, the eye rolling groans in response to the jokes, the topics… it’s just a perfect rest stop amidst the chaos of the day.

This is one of my favorite shows. Not too short, not too long, not more bad news. It’s always interesting. Thanks for bringing some strangeness and interest and depth to my pod stream!

Found this podcast via Slate. The episode about the Rick Roll kept me entertained while planting fruit trees in the cold…and in the rain. That episode was the only good thing about that day. Got hooked and listening gradually to some awesome episodes. The hosts are funny and deep dives in various topics are interesting. Side note, my husband hates podcasts and he likes listening to this one so that says a lot.

Just makes me feel better about the world.

This show is great, I’m working through the catalog currently. I haven’t found that it’s political at all, but maybe it’s bc I love pompous liberal idiots. Keep doing your thang! You guys ARE perfect for each other!
