Staying connected after SULI
Recently completed a SULI internship and became really interested in DOE, this podcast allows me to hear even more information in such an enjoyable way!

engaging look at energy and innovation
Thanks for all the hard work on this podcast! This is high quality and listeners can tell a lot of effort and research goes into each episode. Excellent job, and the content of the episodes is interesting and always teaches me something new. Would love to see a future episode about women in STEM!

Jam packed quality content
Amazed at how much you fit into each episode - it’s a deep dive on interesting energy topics without being overwhelming. Recommend this for anyone looking for a jump into understanding the energy landscape.

Energy Policy Nerds Rejoice!
Took an unfortunate turn under the new administration, which still has yet to right.

Unreal quality and killer content
I listen to podcasts every day, and none sounds as good as this one. The audio is impeccable. The content is even more impressive -- I'm consistently amazed by the quality of work, diversity of interviews and topics, and depth of understanding this team shows. Proof positive that podcasts about science and government can be nerdy and cool at the same time.

Grease, crap, and algae episode
I am encouraged to see the possibilities to turn problems into solutions. My tax dollars are well spent when the labs do this research. I know that corporations will never fund this type of research with their short term quarterly earnings approach to investing. The earth has massive carrying capacity and we need to take care of this. Thankyou for this meaningful difficult work!!

A Podcast That’s Found it’s Stride
After a pretty cheesy first season with plenty of samples and quirky humor, I truly believe this show has found it’s stride. The topics are very interesting, and they do a great job of going into the perfect depth with the topic. It is interesting to see the topics change from renewable energy and up and coming research to more conservative-based episodes in Season 3 (nuclear power and the interviews). I appreciate the balance, but I hope they are not all like episode 3.2. The biggest drawback is the rarity at which podcasts are uploaded. I imagine it’s a small operation and these are not the host’s full time jobs, but would enjoy more content!

Direct Current Connects!
This is a smart, very well produced podcast that explains complex, cutting edge scientific research and work in real life terms. Great job by the DOE team and a flagship government podcast.

Engaging production
Well-produced, funny and engaging. Not only for energy experts, but still interesting for those that know a little more.

Very entertaining but...
no more whispering! Wonderful content, very interesting, well presented. I would have given it 5 stars, but the hosts seem to think its charming to whisper in someone's ear, its like nails on a chalkboard. (One episode I couldn't listen to at all)

Great Content & Great Personality
This podcast is so well-done! Great technical subject matter conveyed in a fun, entertaining way. The hosts do a terrific job bringing personality to the story, which is extremely well-written to bring each topic to life. It's a fun, educational listen every time!

It's a Taxpayer-Funded Platypus
It's got to be the weirdest job in the world to popularize the ideas of (push the agenda of?) a departmental-level federal agency... through a podcast. All things considered, this is a LOT less terrible than it otherwise could have been. In fact, it's really quite palatable. I mean, all of the screaming guitars and "DJ" something-something trying to make it "cool" is the least cool thing in the world. And the goofy sound effects and stupid jokes... don't get me started. But you can definitely tell that whereas 99% of the other podcasts out there are scraping and scrapping to make a marketable podcast that will gain an audience, this podcast is a fully funded bump on a log. At least it was under the last administration. How the heck has this not been scrapped yet when Secretary Perry is slashing jobs at the national laboratories? Not that I'm necessarily opposed to the existence of such a podcast. I think that an informed citizenry is one that is better equipped to vote responsibly. I seriously doubt that this podcast has a listenership of more than a couple hundred, though. Which is sad. If more Americans were keeping tabs on what the agencies were doing and voted accordingly, there'd be more accountability for those in power.

Amazing
DOE is a great and important science agency. The Direct Current team tells that story really well. My favorite character is DJ Paul Lester.

Great info!
Great content, great hosts, my new favorite podcast!

Changed the wrong direction
I enjoyed season 1. So far, very disappointed with topics in season 2. Seems like we are going back to last century. I think the topics should be about 21st century! Let's talk carbon free energy. Wind, Solar, storage, microgrids, distributed generation, consumer choice, prosumers!

Good Stuff
Getting better with every episode. The Manhattan Project part deux was the best one yet. Keep it goin! Thanks.

Fantastic Podcast!!! 10/10 Recommend
A very well put together, informative, and entertaining podcast series. I'm glad my tax dollars are going towards something good! I recommend everyone subscribe and tune in to this podcast!!

Great work and way to DOE info out there
This is a great podcast and really does a good job explaining energy issues in a way that is accessible to people without a technical background while not causing those of us who work in the energy industry from cringing because someone confuses energy and power.

Elegy to the DoE
The episode on the solution to acid rain and the parallels to climate change was a great and moving episode. It also came out just when their budget for solving this problem is likely to be drastically cut. I hope the podcast (and more importantly the DoE) comes back.

Not just for energy nerds!
I am an energy Nerd but this podcast is a welcomed treat for myself. But also is approachable that my mom listens along whenever we are on a road Trip! Keep up the great work!

Great podcast!
Really like this podcast. It is informative (I always learn something), funny and well-produced. I'd like to drink a beer and hang out with the hosts, so that's always a good sign!

Great start. I look forward to more new episodes!
Interesting topics and conversations. Nice to hear and learn more about what's going on at DOE. I wish more government agencies did this!

One of my favorite podcasts -- it is awesomely nerdy and informative!
There Will Be Snacks
Really great!
Thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating show about energy, science, history and a bunch of other stuff (burritos!). Good production value, to boot. Worth listening to if you love Planet Money, Radiolab, 99% Invisible or any show that mixes science with storytelling.

Outstanding, Informative, and Interesting
This podcast is great! It informs the listener about local and global energy needs, alternative energy solutions, and resources to go to with any questions. All this is accomplished while avoiding bogging the listener down with data or attempting to scare listeners with "energy crisis" or similar buzz words. I do not mean to diminish the issue, just stating that they present the information well for the listener to make their own choices and observations. After listening to the first podcast, I was inspired to research solar energy for my own home and am excited about the opportunity to do my part and save my family money simultaneously. I am looking forward to future podcasts episodes!

Reminds me of Bill Nye
Very fun, quirky podcast. The silly asides remind me a bit of Bill Nye The Science Guy. It's really interesting to hear more about energy in our country from the people working on these projects. I wish more government departments had podcasts to help educate people about their work.
LOL_TooFunny
Not gonna lie, this is top notch!
I listen to a lot of podcasts and a lot of different kinds of podcasts. I’m happy and surprised that this is the first government podcast of its kind. It is beautifully produced, fascinating, good storytelling, funny, informative and not too cutesy. Just really good. Keep it up Energy! The first episode gave me a lot to think about for solar power and the second episode even more so with the call center for clean energy solutions. Oh and not to mention the enthralling story about measuring the energy of a burrito. Wah!?

Haha Great Job Guys!
Like all the other reviewers: Not what you would expect from a government agency. The producers know what podcasting is. The humor in episode 1 satirizing other podcasts super funny. I hope they’ll imitate The Secret Room sometime! I’m subscribed. A great listen.

Charming and informative.
Loved the first episode. Hosts (and others heard) are charming and engaging. Thought I was listening to an NPR podcast until they started making jokes about spoofing them. Also surprised this is a government podcast.

The Modern "Fireside Chats"
I've been looking for an energy-related podcast for some time and stumbled across this. Kudos to DOE's public outreach staff for dreaming this up. The episode was entertaining, accessible to those who don't have a technical background, and had surprisingly high production value for a government-produced podcast. I'm looking forward to the next!

Can't wait for the next one!
A federal agency modernizing its means of public communication...not at all surprised that the DOE is first, hope it won't be the last. Can't wait for the next episode

Will definitely listen in next time!
Funny, informative, and engaging. If all episodes turn out to be this well-produced, this might turn out to be my next favorite podcast! I like that it is under 30 minutes as well

Informative and entertaining
I am very impressed with this podcast. The hosts are entertaining and clearly know their stuff. I look forward to more, good job DOE

Surprisingly Awesome
Clearly a lot of thought, time, and effort went into this inaugural episode, and it pays off. It's a great length, interesting subject matter, and a good mix of interviews and narrative. Great job DOE!

I appreciate your reaching out!
Really fresh take on how to communicate what the DOE does. Great Job!

Excited for the next one! Great start.

Surprisingly Enthralling
I found that this podcast was surprisingly enthralling especially from a podcast make by the US government. The podcast had an enjoyable dry humor and the lead(s) have pleasant voices. The music is fitting when it kicks in. The stories are interesting, even if you aren't into environmentalism. Over all, the show is well produced and is an intriguing podcast that I will continue to listen to. Keep up the good work.

A great start
Quirky humor, surprisingly good production values and good personal chemistry between the hosts made this an an interesting and enjoyable show. It's obvious that the creators of this are podcast fans -- they get it -- and they clearly worked hard to make sure that this is a good one.
