Loved DST before the rebrand
I feel left behind after the rebrand. DST used to say out loud the things I was thinking about myself and made me I feel seen. I came in with Remy and Emily and I really felt connected to their openness about struggles with disordered eating - and how you can feel bad even when you are in the healed stage. As someone who has always struggled with my body even though I’m on the up - it made it feel like my struggles were normal too. Now it’s just another podcast with two girls talking. I held out as long as I could but it’s not the podcast for me anymore. Sad that the space DST created no longer exists.

Missing times of ‘yore
I’m sorry but please replace the new girls, or add more substance to this… it’s very gabby without any kind of insights or educational aspect. I commiserate with my friends. I want to come here to commiserate AND get a different perspective from my own, maybe even with some research behind it.

Love Lauren and Emily
Obsessed with everything they have to say, they are the coolest and I learn from them so much. Love listening to this every week and hearing their thoughts.

Sadly unsubscribing
I hope you find the audience you’re looking for with the rebrand because as an OG DSTer I can’t listen to the show anymore. It’s not fun. It feels like I’m being shamed constantly. The guests are biased or unrelated to the topic. Was trying to hold out but this show has become unbearable and unrelatable.

Glad to be back
I stopped listening when the new hosts came on. I just couldn’t connect anymore. I’ve recently begun listening again when Lauren began and the dynamic is great! I love her insight and Emily and Lauren as co hosts

Completely different podcast now
I’d been a DST listener since the start and have tried to stick around since Sami and Aleen departed, but I just can’t listen to a single-minded view on body positivity and wellness anymore. Emily and Lauren seem to only rant about how bad Ozempic is and how no one should want to lose weight, yet the only experts they’ve had on have been those who support those same narrow views. As someone diagnosed with binge eating disorder who uses semaglutide to manage food noise (and who is now able to actually eat intuitively instead of restricting and binging) I just feel judged when I listen to them. I wasn’t looking for a return to the original format where Sami and Aleen were often trying different diets every other week, but I’d like to actually hear about wellness and healthy movement instead of just complaining.

Very relatable
I started listening when Lauren join the DST family and I just love Lauren and Emily together. They make me feel like one of their girlfriends. The conversations never feel force and love how they feed off each other’s energy. I’ve recently jumped off the societal toxic weight loss band wagon and feel like I’ve found my people. Keep being you and can’t wait for more shows with you both. Love it and excited about the possible future name change.

Emily just rambles on . Love Lauren .
Emily can prep some talking points before recording the pod. She talks without any relevance to the pod. Like in the latest episode she just goes on and on about umbrellas lol. Lauren brings a lot of good points to the discussions but what can she do if Emily is always so off topic. Maybe get a new cohost to match Lauren. I can't listen to Emily and her musings about sneakers and umbrellas.

Do not like the new host
I have listened to this podcast for yearssss but can no longer listen with Lauren. She makes everything about herself and clearly wants to go viral. The tone of the show has changed for the negative and I miss the old hosts/content.

Like being in the room with friends
I love this podcast- Emily and Lauren have great conversation and are funny, thoughtful and insightful. It’s really like being in the room with friends. I love the attention to a variety of topics especially those that pertain to women, body image, health and relationships. Thanks for the great show!

Lauren is a breath of fresh air!
Loving the dynamic between Lauren and Emily. I think they both bring a lot to the table and their conversations feel more aligned with “OG” DST. I appreciate how fat friendly it is (especially without excluding or demeaning anyone else) and I think listeners of all sizes will find something of value from both of these hosts :)

Love Lauren as the new cohost!
I’m really enjoying Lauren Hope Krass as the new co-host! She’s super funny off the cuff but also brings a really fresh spin to the podcast with her experience as a plus size person. Also loving all the new segments. I definitely have some food pinions of my own 😂

Yay
Back for seconds is my fav! I Subscribe just to hear more of Aleen and Sami. Was so happy to discuss the (over?)emphasis of breastfeeding for new moms in the caretaking / capitalism episode

LOVE The New Host!
No shade to other hosts but I am LIVING for new co-host Lauren! It just feels right having a plus size perspective on the show AND she’s funny, smart, and has great chemistry with rest of the team? 🔥🔥🔥🫡🫡🫡👑👑👑💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻

Great Listen
I’m a new listener and love tuning in every week. I felt very similar to Remy which is what got me hooked. I like the new host but she interrupts Emily SO much. I think she’ll find her groove but please let Emily finish her thoughts and don’t feel the need to fix the issues she’s talking about.

Love Red Vines, but I love you more!
I love the foodpinions, keep them! I also think that Lauren is a great addition to the pod, although we all Stan Remi, I’m so enjoying Lauren’s lighthearted takes and effortless humor. My Red Vines secret is that they’re nasty fresh but amazing stale. They get the chew of a twizzler but a more intense flavor. My mom and I discovered this by purchasing Red Vine loosies out of the Costco tub at the $1 theater in San Diego the 90s. It started a tradition of buying a small pack before Passover, opening them, and waiting to eat them until the holiday is over a week later.

Emily + Lauren = Perfection
Loving the new hosting duo. These two women have a rich understanding of diet-culture, anti-fat bias, EDs, and body image—while also being brilliant comedians…soooo good! We’ve all spent too much time bonding with other women via being self critical (“fat talk”)—this podcast is the anecdote, rewiring our brains to think about friendship, our bodies, and our culture through a new lens. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Not the same show
Hate the new format. Hate that podcasters think we just want to hear their opinions on the most mundane daily topics. Dont waste your time.

Yikes
I loved DST when Sami and Aleen were the hosts; however, the new hosts took the show downhill. I would listen occasionally even still, but the vegetarianism episode really got to me. Emily especially came off as very know-it-all without the actual knowledge to back it up. I also found the vaping episode(s) to be very strange and difficult to listen to. I still like the episodes where Sami and Aleen come back! Update: they’re still unsufferable hosts, especially Emily. With Remy’s departure, I’m skeptical, but hopefully the new host can right this ship.

Be reallllll
They make it such a point to be “body positive” but it seems that they lean so much towards the plus size/fat community that it almost contradicts their purpose. They are so positive regarding the plus size/fat community and often times make comments that can be hurtful to those who are considered slim,“acceptable body standard”, petite, etc. It feels like all you guys do is promote living a fat lifestyle which is so ridiculous.

Honest and relatable
I haven’t been a longtime listener but I enjoy listening to the episodes! To me it feels like honest conversation about difficult topics. Do I always agree with the takes? No, but it feels like talking with a friend and hearing different perspectives. I like when they include Lauren to get a true plus size perspective as well. I relate to the struggles and appreciate them discussing topics beyond just diet and exercise and how other things play a role in our body image. To be honest, I don’t really enjoy the older episodes because the ones I have listened to seemed to perpetuate some toxic ideas and diet culture. Looking forward to hearing more from Emily and Lauren and whoever the new host is

Intuitive Eating Isn’t the Holy Grail for Everyone
Y’all lost me on the Oprah weight loss drug episode. I take Wegovy and it has been a life changer for me. I can empathize with all of the things Oprah said; food noise is a real thing. Food addiction is a real thing. Ever heard of binge eating disorder? It’s an actual disease. To come back to the point over and over that intuitive eating is the only way to go is insulting. I am almost 40 years old, you think I haven’t tried and failed 1 million times? Bye.

I may be hungry, but I’m still sexy
Most of the time these girls have me cracking up because I can relate so well. When it comes to the eating disorders, the disordered eating the body dysmorphiaThe punishments, the rejections in the self judments I myself put up on me and my parental daughters in this life. This stuff is real, this stuff is true, and this Stuff is therapy to the soul for those who have ever struggled. A little bit too many F bombs but sometimes we gotta take the bad with the good.

No longer a listener
I was a fan until I heard Tracey Carnazzo on a recent episode. She’s a mean girl from another podcast. The last straw for me was the ozempic episode that came off very judgmental. Not very sympathetic to those who need these drugs and not coming from a place of intelligent discussion. I can’t listen anymore.

Unfortunate & uneducated
I’ve been a listener since Sami & Aleen first had the Keto Guido on—and I always appreciated the diverse conversation, non-bias and evolution that both the experts and S&A brought to the show. That being said and I’m sure the current hosts are doing their best, yet Remi & Emily primarily speak using their opinions, and experts are rarely featured anymore. The conversation often sounds hypothetical and uneducated. I understand this is not a medical podcast, but some of it is fairly frightening and the Betches hold higher quality than this! I still subscribe for Back for Seconds episodes — but this may need to change as I can get my S&A doses from Betches. Thank you for trying to make it work for as long as you have !

Misinformation
I had to stop mid episode to write this. The ozempic episode is absolutely absurd. The hosts are ‘speaking from experience’ and ‘based on my own personal feelings’ about addiction, weight stigma etc. These are topics with research to support them. Their uninformed opinions are not worth being on this platform
hbkrunner
Absurd
It’s absolutely baffling that the last episode aired. The hosts and producers should have thrown that interview with Sami’s mom into the trash where it belongs. No disrespect to either of them, but that was an incredibly frustrating waste of 40 minutes that we paid for. Sami’s mom is not healed around food whatsoever and has incredibly dangerous and damaging opinions surrounding food and health that are all the antithesis of this whole podcast. She’s still very much in her ED & there should have been a trigger warning ahead of this episode. & then Sami’s admission that she hasn’t actually been diagnosed with any of the things she claims to have? Absurd. Oh you read things on the internet about symptoms so now you have CPSD, ADHD, Autism & did knows what else? Her mom actually was right about something - that’s so insane. The whole thing was absolutely absurd & a backwards, disorganized half argument that none of us learned or grew from at all. Truly baffling that this aired, you should all be embarrassed.

Different show, bad new hosts
Sami and Aleen spoke from intelligent thinking. They theorised in an engaging yet not boring way. Sami and Aleen were also genuinely funny. Remy and Emily are topical and people pleasers— laugh at anything/everything without true opinion. It’s a VERY different approach and a highly annoying one

Relatable 💙
Relatable as fellow Virgo Jew! Thanks for covering a variety of relatable topics outside of the box of regular diet culture topics!

dst is da simple truth
as someone with an ongoing ED struggle, I really relate to these discussions and love everyone who’s come on as guests! You’ve all touched on this subject personally, but I would really appreciate an episode discussing the issue of whether and how to share these disorders with a partner 💜

Haven’t been able to get into the 2.0 version
Update: I no longer listen to the normal episodes, only the Back for Seconds episodes. I just don’t vibe with the new hosts unfortunately. Hoping they’ll announce new hosts soon. Original Review: Sticking around for the bonus episodes for now, but haven’t been able to get into the new hosts.

So freakin funny!
The hosts have a great back and forth and the content is always painfully relatable

I was a switch witch kid!
My mom had this rule for us in the 90s 😂, though we had a charitable component in that she told us our extraneous candy went to less fortunate kids who weren’t allowed to trick or treat when in reality it went to my dads coworkers lol Love this show and you two! Thanks for what you’re doing and sharing ❤️

Disappointed
Disappointed with the change in hosts. :( Find the new host unrelatable and very boring. Miss the old show.

This isn’t working…
Update: I have officially stopped my back for seconds subscription and unfollowed the show… I love the Sami and Aleen solo episodes but not enough to pay $5 a month for them… I also would get extremely triggered when one of the Emily/Remy eps would automatically play after another pod. I’m done but still following on insta with hopes they will eventually announce new hosts! It’s very clear from the reviews that this just isn’t working… so long DST- it’s been fun💔💔 Original review: I am a back for seconds subscriber and LOVE the eps with Sami and Aleen… but I almost want to unsubscribe all together to send a message that it’s just not working with these two new hosts… they are not relatable nor great interviewers, and really not funny. I love sex and I think it’s a great topic to discuss and no one should be shamed for speaking about it but when EVERY podcast somehow segways to a sex convo or a weird sex joke that’s not funny at all it’s just annoying and cringy… the 2023 trends and especially the recent skin care episode really sealed the deal for me… I hope the Betches team realizes that these two don’t really have what it takes to carry this podcast and they cut their losses and either cancel the show or get new hosts… It makes me sad that my fave pod is now awful Ps. VERY obvious that these positive reviews are family members or friends of the hosts or betches employees

Get these hosts off the air
Both of the hosts running this podcast have severe eating disorders, and it’s very triggering to hear them talk about it. Betches needs to reevaluate who they are putting on a platform as hosts. Someone needs to take stock of the commentary and see how triggering these hosts are - they are not relatable whatsoever and they are honestly encouraging warped eating behaviors

This just ain’t it anymore
Sorry to pile on the majority of negative reviews but this last episode just did it in for me. These new hosts are soooo unrelatable and hard to listen to. I miss Sami and Aileen. Their voices (which I know you can’t change) are so “better than you” and just not a welcoming vibe. They’re so serious and don’t make the topic of diet and fitness relatable or lighten it up at all. When Jared was on he tried to lighten it up with relatable jokes and they all but shut him down. One of you is more relatable and chill than the other but no clue who it is because you don’t ever introduce yourself or address one another by name. I know you’re trying your best but something just isn’t clicking. Ps if you’re going to New Orleans you’re not going to eat healthy and you just accept it. Look ahead at menus and try to find places there that have a mix- they exist. For you to complain for 15 mins about the food in the most cultured city in the USA, was such an absolute turn off.

Sorry ladies. I wish the topics were more positive towards fitness routines and the benefits of eating healthy and being active. Poor habits and laziness seem to be encouraged rather than the benefits of what living a health focused life does for you.

New hosts are so flat and definitely not worth it
Ive been a fan of betches media for forever but this one is the only podcast ive taken off of my roster from them. Hoping Sami and Aileen can come back to this because whatever this is definitely not working.

So annoying you have to pay to listen to the old eps with S&A
Had to update my review because it’s so annoying you have to pay to listen to the old episodes with Aleen and Sami. No one wants the new girls but they’re trying to make them a thing but forcing you to pay or only listen to them. They are so flat and dull it’s PAINFUL to listen to. I stopped listening but when I saw Jared was on I thought I’d give it another shot. Couldn’t make it through five minutes - LOVE Jared but even he couldn’t make these girls even remotely interesting or funny. Old review: Someone needs to say it! Very poor content from out of touch, privileged women who use buzzword after buzzword as a replacement for actual insight. So, so cringe. And stop trying to make “journ” happen!! I’ve never had a visceral reaction to hearing a word before but every time they say journ it triggers my gag reflex 🤮

Can Jared just be the host?
The intro warning says that the podcast is for entertainment purposes and to consult a health professional, then the hosts gaslit Jared about the advice he’d gotten from a health professional…

Honest feed back
I haven’t been a listener from Sammy and Aleen days so I won’t go on whining about this. Here is an honest review for improvement: 1- the girls don’t introduce and address each other enough, I have listened to 50% of their episodes and I still have no idea who’s who. 2- we literally don’t know who these girls are. What do they do on a day to day basis? What are their plans for the podcast and their career? How did they actually meet. I feel they are still complete strangers. For example, Kay from the betchelor even though I have many reservations about her podcasting she does an excellent job making the listeners KNOW who she is. 3- what are these girls qualifications to discuss these topic? If they don’t have qualifications that’s fine I guess but do some work and reading and come with some notes to discuss. For now it feels like two girls who are barely friends deciding to talk about random topics under the umbrella of wellness 4- positives feedback: - I actually think they have good qualifications to be good podcasters and presenters if given the right direction, they seem interesting but we are not allowed to dive deeper - when they have a guest, I think they actually do an excellent job. This podcast would be better with them more asking and less answering. In the nicest way possible, I don’t want answers from unqualified people, who are not my “friends” either be an expert or be relatable and friendly - topics are great, I love the body wellness umbrella. In fact I keep telling myself I’m wasting time listening and plan not to listen again, but then I see the topic coming with interesting relatable titles and I just give in and give it another listen (only to be a little disappointed) 5- one more negative: it would be nice if betches start broadening to more demographics in their hosts. Not all of your audience is late gen Z early millennial white Jewish heterosexual woman. I’d like to see more people of color, more people who aren’t Jewish, more men, more gay people. It really doesn’t make sense that 90% of your hosts fall into that demographic. That’s not 90% of your audience, it’s pretty off putting. Bottom line: the titles will keep attracting me, but if I continue to get disappointed I will learn my lesson and just not follow this podcast anymore.

Missing Sami and Aileen :(
I think this podcast has just run it’s course. Emily and Remy really don’t seem to see eye to eye on much and I find that Remy’s contrarian attitude brings down the vibe of the podcast overall.

Disappointed
This podcast used to be my favorite. A lot of the episodes with Sami and Aileen were so honest and refreshing to listen to, the guests and hosts offered substantial conversations about what’s happening in the world and a very real take on their personal situations that felt super relatable and empowering. I feel like the new hosts are often contradicting themselves and the issues they’re trying to discuss. They’ll often go on mini tangents that completely discount what the podcast is about - encouraging women to have body positivity and a healthy mindset. After listening to the new episodes, I often walk away confused and even a little worse off then when I was before.
