Mouth sounds
Interesting story but this woman’s mouth sounds are impossible to ignore. I don’t know if she’s chewing gum or just has chronic dry mouth.

Excellent
This is factual as far as it goes

Ted was never car
Of the many different theories, the one that makes the most sense was that Ted was never in the car when it over the bridge. That, fearing getting caught, Ted got out of the car with the intention of meeting up with Mary Jo later. Mary Jo, intoxicated unfamiliar with the terrain, drove off the bridge. That also explains Ted’s waiting 10 hours to report the incident. Not a perfect explosion, but the one that makes the most sense.

One of the best
I am amazed at the tenacity of this team, their ability to weave the many threads of this story. I was a teenager when it happened, and now, I finally understand the sad, murky multi-layered backstory. I also grew up not far from where Rosemary Kennedy was institutionalized. To know now that her father had her lobotomized just haunts me. Thank you, all of you, for you work.

Narrator is Spectacular
I listen to podcast daily. Some of them are interesting but the narrator impedes the flow of the story. This podcast has both elements: absolutely brilliant information and a spectacular narrator. Her voice is professional but not boring. An outstanding podcast!

Instead of bedtime stories
My mom would tuck me into bed with stories like Chappaquidick. As a Catholic mom in the 60s, she was mortified by 2 things: the Kennedy Family and Vatican 2. She’s at peace now, so I can say this: Mom, you were right . Those Kennedy’s were a bunch of evil squirrels. And this podcast is heartbreaking. He left her in that car. Just walked away. Lion of the Senate, my ass.

Intriguing
I had no idea just how deep this story could go. I found this podcast very recently and only learned of this tragedy after the movie release. I was giddy with excitement when I saw this on my recommended list. The detailed research is admirable. At times, I would get confused as to who was whom. Especially toward the end, but that was likely due to my own focus issues. I just wish it felt like closure. I know it can’t, but I wish…

Very well done
Excellent podcast. This subject matter was a little more dry than I usually listen to but they did a very nice job with this. Well researched, not sensationalized. Narrator (and journalist) has a very pleasant voice. I learned a lot and would recommend.

Love
I love it. Only questions I have are these.... If there was another individuals’ purse in the vehicle, a witness stating Mary Jo fell asleep in the car, how can it not be pushed forward? Answer to that is: KENNEDY The evidence & clues are there, the questions, the police work by Arena, why wasn’t there an autopsy performed? The air pocket idea fascinated me. Poor Mary jo, poor family. I wish we knew the true story

A masterclass....
The Kennedys have been a fascination of mine since I was a young girl in the 80’s. This series was superbly done; it never lets you lose sight of the fact that a young woman perished, tragically-and that is THE MOST important part. It also doesn’t try to cast Senator Kennedy in the role of an arch villain. Great reporting, I love People’s podcasts so much more than their mag. Keep up the good work. -T

Great Review of the Event
I was 18 at the time and watched Ted's televised comments that night. Brings it all back and presents quite a bit of new information I was unaware of. Excellent podcast and presented so you have to binge.

Surprised
I’ve had this on my to do watch list for awhile and had been putting it off. I was like a lot of other people in my thinking that we’ve all heard the different theory’s on what happened that night. It will never come out the whole truth. But, boy was I surprised. I binged the whole podcast in one afternoon. Great job on interviewing so many different witnesses that are still alive today. A lot more questions were brought out in this story. Well worth the listeners time.

Can’t help but veer into conspiracy
The first three episodes of this podcast are excellent. Unfortunately the podcaster runs out of provable material to cover and spins off into unfounded, uncorroborated, and unprovable conspiracy theorizing. A disappointing conclusion to a podcast series that began with such promise.
Mysterio.
Excellent Reporting
Ignore the fact that this is a “People Magazine” production; focus instead on the fact that it’s a rigorously reported, fascinating look at the famous, mysterious and tragic Ted Kennedy Chappaquidick case. You’ll hear from tons of witnesses and interviewees who were there that night, as well as all the unanswered questions that still remain. Reminded me a lot of Slate’s similarly excellent history show “Slow Burn.”

Interesting
The subject is very interesting and to hear the details of this event kept me wanting to know more. As sad as this tragedy is , I feel it is something we all need to know about. It is our history. A very good podcast. I recommend it

Why was this titled Coverup?
Well done in the sense that a lot of information was presented from eye witness to conjecture but the title would leave one to think a coverup was discovered. What you really hear are a lot of theories woven in with witness accounts that gets all jumbled in to a conspiracy theory in the end. Too many accounts from people who didn’t want to be interviewed also - the letter? The conclusion I’ve come away with, love or hate the Kennedys, was that this was a tremendous tragedy for all parties involved and it had a lasting effect on the survivors. It left me wondering how history may have been changed had Teddy avoided this whole incident and the resulting cloud over his reputation and had become president.

So interesting!!!
This was a great podcast! I didn’t realize this story had so many different twist and turns. I learned so much about the Kennedy family and this tragic story. The details behind this story are intriguing!!

Drink some water please!
I am so interested in this story, but I can’t listen to it because I’m extremely distracted by the sound of her tongue making gross sloshy noises as she speaks

Great!
I’m now obsessed with learning more about what happened. VERY good podcast!!

Cover-up
Great job recreating the incident 49 years after the fact. As you discovered the cover-up began on the discovery of the car hanging over Dike Bridge most likely even before the discovery when Ted informed his friends at the party. Only the few investigators still alive have the closest real facts of how and what happened the night of July 19,1959. Bob Molla

Wow
Great production. I’m learning so much about the cover up. I hope these people put out more shows

Professionally done podcast!
Before I get to the subject matter of this podcast, I want to talk about how well this was done. Most podcasts are done with people that have the knowledge or the passion for what they are talking about but have no business hosting a podcast. They can not speak, or they can’t interview a person, most of the time (for me) it is painful to listen to and the subject gets lost. This podcast has it all, professionals involved at all levels, therefore the subject matter is the only thing I think about when listening to this podcast. I have studied this “case” for years, I have even gone out to the Dike Bridge ( much different today) to study the scene. After listening to this podcast, I plan on going back out and look with some new theories that are covered in this. I can not recommend this podcast enough. The only regret you will have is when it ends.

Gripping but a bit repetitive
I think this would have been the perfect podcast if it were just one episode shorter. It starts out strong in the first couple of episodes then meanders a bit to the end, repeating through various sources what had been said. I did appreciate, however, that the podcast ackonwledged Kennedy's contributions towards the betterment of society, while not letting him off the hook for, at the very least, what should have been considered manslaughter.

Great podcast with great research
Cover-Up was a great podcast that covered the injustice carried about Ted Kennedy and others who didn't want him to face severe punishement for the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.

Very well done. No wild claims of revealing the real story. Simple presentation of several theories. Very very well done.

A very well researched and presented story - learned a lot I didn’t know about this critical event in our history.

First 4
The first 4 episodes are truly fantastic and informative regarding details, records and accounts from this tragedy. However, after the 4th episode the producers starts interviewing and including descendants of people whom were involved and at that point it’s mostly conjecture, hearsay and conspiracy theories. I’m not sure why the kids of those involved have anything to add other than “well, my mom/dad thought..or this is how they see it happened.” Stick with notes, original interviews, and thoughts and opinions of people who had first-hand access.

Hot and Cold
There were episodes where I felt very engaged and it felt like it was going somewhere but towards the end it just felt like a bunch of information that was stretched to be put together. It had it’s moments, just felt like it needed more direction. Voice of the narrator is wonderful.

Terribly sad
I grew up knowing only a little of this story - I remember asking my mom who told me only that a young girl was in a car with Ted Kennedy, he had an accident and rather than try to save her he left the scene and didn’t report it until a day later. Of course there’s so much more I didn’t understand. This is so well done - exhaustive, but not exploitative. Really compelling stuff.

So Sad
So sad that there are actually people still around who know parts of what happened, and they can’t give this family closure. This was a beautiful podcast.

He was a pig
Good podcast. It’s about time. Many years ago I chartered a sailboat in Bermuda. I asked the captain who his worst guest was. Without hesitation he said Ted Kennedy was a complete pig. Threw him off his boat.

Very, very good!
Sitting here listening to this podcast, I’am mesmerized. I was a teenager at the time this happened and remember it well. So well done. Wonderful storytelling. I really like the host.

Still an amazing man and hero to this country
He was an amazing man, more so under today's standards. WHatever happened it wasn't intentional and we need 1000 more like him today. He was an AMerican hero!

Well done!
The production quality, research and host are top notch. Teddy was a lowly worm! Thank god this piece of crap never made it to the White House. It is sad to think that the people of Mass kept voting him back to the senate. Over and over and over. Shame I’m glad that this podcast and a recent movie are bringing the victim Mary Joe and her family to the foreground finally.

Revitting!!!!!
I was a freshman in high school when Chappaquiddick occurred!!! I remember wanted to know what really happened! Thank you for letting people know that we should never forget the real victim, Mary Jo!!!!
