I think you’re -Just What I Needed
Found this podcast by chance. Since the onset of the pandemic I’ve torn through tons of audiobooks and podcasts. I’m highly enjoying this. This is made up of the kind of stuff I crave in a podcast. It’s solidly interesting. They touch on so many topics here. The episodes are taking me places I didn’t expect to go. The conversation and interviews are well spoken. It’s also funny, which is just a huge bonus. I listened to a few recent episodes and decided that I would go to the very beginning and listen to them all. I’ve only ever done that with one other podcast, “Music From 100 Years Ago.” Honestly, I’m very impressed. Enough to come here and write about it, because reviews are important to keep these kinda things alive! As an illustrator, *lots* of my time is spent listening to music while I work. Also, I listen in my car, & in the long pick-up line at school, then to relax at night. All day music. After awhile I get burned out on music. It can feel like I’ve run out of ideas of what to play. So podcasts like this help me learn new music and people to seek out. I look forward to listening to the entire catalog. Thank you all for doing this.

Entertaining and educational
This excellent podcast is not just for classical music newbies. I’ve enjoyed classical music for decades, and still learn something new every time I listen to one of these programs.

Fantastic educational podcast
I have loved classical music so i came into this podcast with high expectations that I wouldn’t learn much. Dacia proved me wrong!! I have learned so much about familiar and completely unheard of pieces! You will learn much about all things classical music

Bravo!
Amazing production! Dacia is an outstanding host and makes the music very relatable to the uneducated like myself. She works well with her guests who bring wonderful insight and expertise. Great way to gain an appreciation for this genre who knew Id love organ symphony #3!

Love this podcast
I have always enjoyed classical music but didn’t know much about it. This podcast is such a great way to learn about not just different pieces but the instruments and different types of “classical” music and the people behind it.

Not just "Classical" (updated)
This is a fabulous podcast. Dacia Clay asks remarkably insighful and interesting questions that really help me clarify my understanding of how music is "put together"—how it's structured—and how that affects what I am hearing, how I am hearing it, and why I'm reacting to it as I am. The insights I've gained from this show have increased my appreciation of =all= music—not just "classical" or "serious" music. Over the years I've been fortunate to be able to listen to a lot of different kinds of music from many diffetent cultures and countries, so I already "know" much about music. However, none of my music "education" has been formal; therefore, many of the discussions on this show have caused "the coin to drop." That is, they've given me conscious understatings of music and structure I had previously only understood on a "gut" or unconscious level. The show has provided many tools for me to better think about and enjoy =everything= I'm hearing. Profuse thanks to Ms. Clay, the engineer and producer, Houston Public Radio (for whom my cup was already overflowing for introducing me to John Lienhard years ago), and all of the delightful, well-spoken musicians and composers who have given their time so generously to this show. Okay, so now I'm over a hundred episodes in (I one of those strange people who likes to listen to shows in chronological order). I had to add to this to double-down on my comments. This is indeed a magnificant show. Delightful, knowledgeable, well-spoke guests, interesting music and insights, and delicious, perceptive questions from Ms. Clay. How can I give this more than five stars??

The best music podcast ever!!
Dacia is a fantastic host, I love how I learn about the music but also come away learning something about life! I am glad she is there to ask the basic questions I have always wondered about.

Excellent!!
Just discovered this podcast, and had to go all the way back to Episode 1 just because it's so amazing and fabulous! I happen to love classical music and opera, but I know next to nothing about it -- I sort of just know what I like. In the first three episodes of this podcast, I learned so much! I learned about Bel Canto and Da Capo (which is not a mafia boss -- LOL) and even something about Star Wars! I can't wait to see what else is in store for my brain as I continue to listen.

Fantabulous!
Dacia and her guests are amazing at informing us about the vast depth of knowledge found in classical music and beyond. As a music teacher, I love listening to see how her guests are going to teach her each week. I’ve occasionally picked up bits of information about composers and pieces, or have found other examples of concepts I’m teaching in my own classroom, thanks to this show! Keep learning!!!

Fun and educational!
One of the best podcasts I have found. The host keeps things moving, and the show is entertaining and even funny. But it also presents great music and interesting topics.

Lost the ...music
I lost interest in this podcast as each new episode seems as if it’s more chit chat than music. I learned a few things from the first year but now it lost it’s luster

Enjoyable, educational and accessible
I’ve learned so much from this show, deepening my understanding and enjoyment of classical music. I appreciate the approach of this podcast, with Dacia learning along with the listener, this isn’t a lecture.

Worthy Guests, Mediocre Host & Production
The artists are wonderful in spite of the host. They are worth hearing no matter the lack of skill by the interviewer. Sorry to be blunt but the host has marbles in her mouth, talks rapidly, swallows her words, and seems vacuous, fawning not lacking in knowledge. The effort here is for youth appeal, but quality is sacrificed. The production is terrible... it takes forever to get to the interviews themselves. So, subscribe to hear what the artists have to say and do your best to overlook the flaws of this series...

New Favorite Podcast!
This is definitely my new favorite podcast! You get the best of both worlds —listening to music and learning new things! This makes classical music accessible and brings to life old and new music without making you feel inadequate if you’re not a musician or historian, which is where I’m at.

Yeah, The Classical Classroom has returned
I really got hooked when Dacia broadcasted from Houston Public Radio. I’m very glad she survived Hurricane Harvey and found a new home in Seattle. If you like or love music, please join us as we learn all about classical music. Great job Dacia!

Charming, fun, informative. Dacia is a great interviewer - I really enjoy listing to her conversations. Each episode contains a gem of classical music knowledge at least, and a goldmine at most! Keep it up.

Very Informative and Entertaining
One of my favorites. Dacia does an excellent job of making the podcast accessible for those with little background knowledge in classical music and her guests are very informative.

A gem!
I adore this podcast! I always forget how much I enjoy classical music, but I also know very little about it, so feel overwhelmed and intimidated. This podcast eliminates these feelings as the interviewers (mostly) very helpfully teach the host about their musical passions. Now I want to listen to ALL of the Beethoven!! Thank you Dacia!

A must
We’re so lucky to have a show like this. Brilliant, insightful, the music is dissected, explained and enjoyed.

Humble, interesting, insightful
Love this podcast, every episode has such an interesting theme. And the narrator is so humble! Try to bring Einaudi to the show, would be interesting to hear about his album elements.

This podcast is one of my favorites - I love the variety of artists and the fact that Dacia is unafraid to ask all the questions that I have been thinking. The artists always have an interesting breadth of knowledge and I always learn something without feeling condescended to. I've discovered a lot of music through listening - John Luther Adams' Become Ocean was a recent treat. I'll never get tired of listening to this show.

I love learning with Dacia! From learning to pick out different instrumental sounds, to getting into the head of a composer, to being introduced to new pieces of music as well as new composers, this podcast explores classical music in a fun, down to earth way.
