I loved the show and always love Jonathan Goldstein, but was disappointed to find out that the actual podcast was not the one they pitched and made the pilot of. What happened to “An Exciting Business Opportunity?” I was really looking forward to that.

So much potential but the winning host from season 1 completely abandoned the project that won and the 2nd season is a sort of rambling audio diary of mundane, young adult angst. Unfortunately not engaging.

The competition episodes were good but So Help Me is just not entertaining. Should’ve had a different winner

I was interested in multi level marketing, but for some reason the topic has changed to self help, which is not interesting to me. I’m disappointed and am unsubscribing.

Pretty bummed that the topic of multi-level marketing (which most of us voted for) isn’t even going to be in the podcast we’ve been waiting for all this time. It makes me wonder how the other contestants feel. I’m definitely not interested in self-help but will certainly give the show a listen and re-visit my review.

Twas interesting to see a game show of podcasts, never seen that before. I wish the final say won, because for people like me with no motivation to live, that show would have lit a fire under me maybe. I wish she still does it somehow. I also wish all of them won because it feels like we lost two podcasts at the end.

Love Jonathon Goldstein, however I find the other people on this podcast very annoying. Not a fan of the constant “up talk” and vocal fry. Had to delete.

I really enjoy the concept of this show and the real depth and sincerity of each applicant. What really makes it unique for me is the amount of time and dedication that is spent between Gimlet staff and each applicant. Be all you can be...

I love Jonathan Goldstein and his crew at Gimlet, so I was excited to jump into Casting Call. And it did not disappoint! Even though only one of the three podcasts in this contest got a pilot, they are all excellent. I blew through all the episodes in no time at all.

I listened to the episodes up to picking the finalists And then there were 3. I didn't really love, or like very much, any of them. I liked the death show the least. Maybe if I was in my 30s and it seemed really far away. So I've skipped past the pilot episodes having heard aboout 5 awful minutes of the death pilot. I've heard enough about death talk on Frontline and such. Lots of the very same thing. I don't know where the judges were that they don't seem to havre heard those shows. As for me, I primarily listen to non-comedic true crime or partners talking about true crime, more like a particular crime. I enjoy tow people who get along great discussing or bantering about the issue without taking away from the main story. Asking or speculating about the case answering what are obvious questions for us true crime listeners. But funny and true crime is not for me, at all. I started out with This American Life and Ivery much like the variety and storytelling/storyteller. The stories are unique reality. Problem with that show is that the episodes are short. I think the ideal episode is between 50-90 minutes. Well, I'll find out who the winner is now and maybe I'll follow up but likely not. Eould have liked a longer Casting Call show itself.

I loved casting call! Although, I was really upset that the pilot I voted for didn’t win, all of the finalists had good shows. I hope that they do a follow up because I would love to see if those that didn’t win still go on to make podcasts! Our Allowance was great and I was so surprised to learn about Su-sus - we have the same thing in Pakistan but they are called committees instead. I think the relationship minorities in America have with money is important to talk about. I hope she continues researching this topic and I would love to continue listening to her journey.

So excited to see Squarespace jumping in this market even further! Great work. 👏

Loved this episode!! Maybe the one positive that can come out of this new generation of women getting burned by MLMs, is that now that we have the internet we can make sure our children and the generations to come wont make our same mistakes

Hi Gimlet— I binge listened to casting call yesterday and really enjoyed it! It was well produced, Jonathan is a hilarious and charismatic host, and I felt really engaged with the competition. All three pilots were strong and I’d be happy if any of them won. However, my far and away favorite was “An Exciting Business Opportunity” (don’t worry, I voted). My hope is that even if it doesn’t win, you’ll decide to go ahead and produce it anyway. It really fills a niche that hasn’t been explored yet and I would wait for it weekly, just like I do with Reply All, Start Up, and The Pitch.
