Tyler (the main pastor) is a big part of the 24/7 prayer movement while prayer is commendable this movement has some major flags associated with it… 🚩 Bridgetown Church is hosting a prophetic prayer training teaching Jan 10 2024 to hear the training how to Holy Spirit on behalf of others. 🚩 Instead of a biblical understanding of prophecy, that is, declaring the truth that God has revealed, International House of Prayer essentially views prophets as Christian psychics, with prophetic hotlines, prophetic readings, and an emphasis on personal prophecy. Many have been led astray by those claiming to be apostles and prophets with a “word from the Lord.” There have been many reports of spiritual abuse and prophetic manipulation within the International House of Prayer movement. This misunderstanding of the gift of prophecy leads to another area of concern. The International House of Prayer has an extreme over-emphasis on the miraculous gifts of the Spirit. Whether full cessationism is accepted or not, their claims regarding the gifts of the Spirit do not at all agree with what the Bible presents. Please read Counterfit Kingdom by Holly Pivec and their new book Reckless Christianity- The Destructive New Teachings and Practices of Bill Johnson, Bethel Church, and the Global Movement of Apostles and Prophets.

I’m based in Alabama and started listening around January of this year & it’s been such a gift. I love learning from Tyler (and all the teaching pastors)! These teachings have been a balm for me in many ways.

I have never taken the time to write a review before. I have spent my life searching for a pragmatic sensible reasonable approach to faith. There seems to be a dichotomy that exists in this quest for a spiritual realm in a practical world. I was bombed when John Mark left Bridgetown. I was floored by my surprise of how good Tyler was for my spiritual journey. I hope one day to make it to Bridgetown to introduce myself personally to Tyler. His humble love for Christ is inspirational to me in a broken world.

These teachings are the best I’ve ever heard, and I’ve spent my whole life in church. The world needs more Pastors like John Mark Comer and Tyler Staton! So grateful for this podcast.

My husband and I used to attend Bridgetown when we lived in Portland. We’ve since moved away to live near family as we raise our daughter, and Bridgetown’s teachings continue to be a lifeline for us and foundational in learning how to follow Jesus in a world that doesn’t align with our values. Following Jesus means you’re going to be countercultural, and you’re going to feel like a stranger in a strange land. This has been true for us in both progressive, secular Portland and the culturally Christian American south, where we now live. Bridgetown’s teachings take a biblical, Christ-centered approach rather than a political or ideological one. I’m so thankful for you, Bridgetown team! This is a church that submits to the Kingdom of God more than the politics of the day. Would love to join this community if I lived in Portland. Hard to find this kind of love of King Jesus in Texas.

Mark has gone WOKE and that’s not a good thing. Stop trying to align scripture w the culture of today. Such a bummer what’s happening to our churches under the guise of Jesus.

I soak up this podcast like a plant that hasn’t been watered. my experience for the last few years with people saying they are Christians left me dazed and disappointed and while I still loved Christ, I looked at Christians with a side eye. I stumbled on this podcast and wow!!! Every sermon Resonates with my heart. Real recognizes real!

I’m so encouraged by this church, their mission, and their love for Christ. I absolutely love these sermons and please, please, please bring back the daily. Those are the best to start your day.

Anointed is the best word I could use to describe this church. They make you want to move to Portland just to be a part of their community. The sermons have changed my walk with Christ and I could not be more grateful for this podcast! Bridgetown is a truly special church.

I used to really enjoy listening to these podcasts. John Mark has a lot of knowledge to impart but unfortunately has fell into believing the lies of the media this past year. He claims to be a centrist, but that only means you trust the lies of BLM Marxism and believe that police are targeting black men in the streets. Liberal ideologies are not aligned with the Bible no matter how much of a “centrist” you claim to be. Praying for a revival in our churches.

The Daily’s were one of the highlights of this past year for me. Thank you for putting in the time and energy to putting them out. I miss them a lot but also really enjoy your sermons!

My favorite church podcast, but please fix episode 563, it cuts out a lot and seems like a very important message there that I don’t want to miss out on!

Consistently this podcast has excellent teachers who craft beautiful, in-depth, thought provoking and educated teachings.

I absolutely love this podcast. Such great messages that really dig deep and aren’t afraid to address the big issues that so many avoid. I have incredible respect for the leaders who make this happen week after week! My one and only complaint is that there are HUGE variances in volume between podcasts. Some podcasts are so quiet that I have to max the volume on my phone and Bluetooth speaker to hear it, but sometimes it’s loud enough that I have my phone at 50% volume. When the former runs into the latter, it’s really not a fun experience (especially at 4:30am and I’m trying not to wake up my family).

So thankful for this podcast and the leadership that creates it. The transition teaching is a must, the morning and evening reflections were great, overall a worthwhile investment of time to renew your mind and tender your heart. I thank God for Bridgetown. May He continue to pour His blessing on the work.

Early in the spring of this year, someone I follow on Instagram shared a screen shot of a podcast called Bridgetown Daily. The episode was about breath prayers. I was immediately intrigued and haven’t stopped listening since. John Mark, Bethany and all the incredibly kind, gentle, wise, thoughtful leaders at Bridgetown became like my shepherds during Covid when my own home church, although gospel-centered, was focusing on facts, data and trying to get everyone back to church ASAP. Would Bridgetown consider planting a church in Omaha, NE please?! (Kidding, not kidding) The episode on holy uncertainty had me weeping in my kitchen. The episode on Psalm 23 from this spring, was on repeat pretty much daily for weeks. Thank you for this podcast. It has truly been a gift to me and the family and friends I have shared it with.

The morning and evening meditations were a lifeline to me during the early months of the pandemic!! Now I’ve branched out and listen to John Mark’s sermons over and over. I live in rural Arkansas and love my small African-American church, but my pastor here is a PREACHER, and John Mark is a TEACHER, and I need both! May God bless Bridgetown!

This has been so life-giving for me! I am a marital and family therapist, so I spend a lot of time in the world of emotion. I am so thankful for a church/podcast that is integrating emotion/meditation/spiritual discipline with their theology. Unfortunately, it is often overlooked in our western version of Christianity. I am so grateful for this podcast! I live in Seattle and have 2 busy kids, and these simple audio teachings or guided prayers/meditations on Scripture have given me guidance as I seek to commune with Christ but don't always know how. Especially in such a difficult global time, having some biblical leadership guide me as I seek God in my home has been SO helpful.

My favorite podcast! I listen almost daily and even re-listen to sermons I’ve played before. Such wisdom in the Simplicity series and the Rule of Life at the end of 2019. I practice Sabbath now and have learned to manage my life and connection to the Father better than I ever have. Love the genuine desire to become disciples of Jesus!
