Matt Carter is far and away my favorite podcast host. He has a very easygoing style, but he knows how to keep things moving so the interview never drags. The content and questions he asks are so different from the norm that you get to hear a different side of guests.

Matt has so many interesting guests on and does a great job of unpacking topics with them.

I appreciate Matt's earnest, down to earth, and easy to relate to style. And his guests are experts in the truest sense of the word. Highly recommend listening and subscribing to Break It Down if you’re interested in exploring your own personal evolution and development and want to get exposure to a wide variety of topics that really help to expand your mind.

Matt continues to bring on outstanding guests from all sorts of fields. Every episode is well-produced and filled a ton of interesting information.

Love the concept of this podcast and it’s long-form conversation approach to topics and learning. I’ve enjoyed so many of the episodes and have taken away a lot and been introduced to some new ways of thinking and to new ideas and things that are out there that I was previously unaware of. I love the musical analysis of songs and the science and social talks about the things going on around us. Definitely my favorite podcast to this date.

This is a pretty entertaining podcast! Similar to my BC pod review, you have to evaluate the language and viewpoints for yourself, but it's certainly a fun listen.

Matt I love your show. This literally exposed me to multiple things I was aware of but wasn't necessarily into before. first your band. Going through each track and breaking them down was superbly interesting to me as a musician and songwriter, and that actually made emery's music more interesting to me in a way I hadn't found appealing before. Secondly, podcasting as a whole. I knew it was a thing but hadn't gotten into it before listening to your show. Now I even have thoughts of doing my own. Hearing about your approach to life has really inspired me to pursue things I find interesting. I want to be independent and have multiple means of income and get paid to do things I'm good at and enjoy. I love getting broad perspectives on things and I think you do a great job of bringing in the right people to be informed and get nitty gritty details on issues that so often get over looked. Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work!

The biggest thing for me is the substance of the conversations Matt has with his guests or how he explains things in depth and detail. Not only that, but the passion he has about what he decides to look into or understand in regards to his guests. Keep up the good work!

I've been into Bad Christian for a long time, but just recently started getting into Break It Down. Matt has definitely grown tremendously as a podcaster, and he has some fascinating guests on the show. Extremely jealous of Matt's entrepreneurial skills, trying to figure out how to do what he does myself. Anyway, love the show!

Matt does a killer job of going in depth on interesting topics. The only downside is the episodes aren't long enough.

Started listening from the Badchristian podcast. Newfound respect when he got Dan Carlin on his podcast. You may be an emotionless robot, Matt, but you do a great job.

Matt is a really intelligent guy, and a great interviewer who is only getting better. He has really interesting people on, and asks questions that I've always wanted to ask people. His podcast resembles the Joe Rogan Experience, except not 3 hours long. Highly recommend checking this out, as well as the Bad Christian Podcast.

This is my favorite podcast of the Bad Christian family. Matt has something special going here. From music to food diet to entrepreneurs Matt talks to people about the technicalities. And it is awesome. The latest Band Breakdown episode was fantastic.

I've been listening to various podcast for some time now. My favorite by far is The Joe Rogan Experience. I have been looking for a podcast like break it down for a while. I am a musician and I love to hear about behind the scenes stuff and how musicians live their lives. I'm not a fan of Emery so I skipped season one. Matt is an excellent interviewer. It always seems like he knows the right questions to ask and in some instances he doesn't let the guest avoid answering the question. I never find myself getting bored from any of the conversations. Keep up the good work Matt!

Yes, this might be my favorite podcast, possibly even more than the BadChristian podcast. As an artist, I love hearing the breakdowns of albums, songwriting, production, etc...Even the science, political, and health episodes are intriguing. Keep them coming Matt!

I’ve been listening to Bad Christian since it’s inception. When Matt announced he was going to do this podcast, I was pretty stoked. With an array of guests who have been involved in music in one way or another, I was excited to hear producers and musicians talk about the creative, technical, and sonic aspects of music. And I love the topics of discussions, but Matt needs to quit interrupting and let someone else talk. I’m here to listen to the guests, not the host. You can tell when he is going in verbal circles to try and get to a point (that doesn't add anything to the conversation anyways) and it honestly gets frustrating. Overall, I do like this podcast. But as someone trying to gain knowledge from a guest’s recording techniques, insight into music, or just overall experiences, I find myself saying “damn, just let the guy talk” out loud quite often. And to be honest, that isn’t always the case, it just seems to be something I’ve noticed lately.

I put episodes on for hours and can't get enough of the theory! It's helping to refine how I think about music and improving my writing. Tell us more about modal theory!

Really great and in depth. If you are a singer or a musician or just a fan (like I am) it is really a dream come true to hear these two talk so in depth about the process of creating every song (and just hearing about their personalities in the band)

This is hands down the most thoughtful and informative podcast that I listen to. Matt does a phenomenal job about diving into any topic that is of interest to him whether it is recording music, artificial intelligence, comedy, faith, and even terrorism and radicalism. My favorite part of this show is that basically every episode is always an examination of a new topic. Matt does an excellent job of transposing his inquisitive nature onto his show and it definitely feels almost like an extension of his personality! Also, the theme song is super catchy and has gotten stuck in my head multiple times.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for a long time now, but I listen mostly in my car and forget after I get home...As a music nerd, I find this podcast vary entertaining and informative at the same time. I enjoy when Matt talks more about theory and chord functions and gives examples in his music and the music of the person he is interviewing. Super usefully stuff!! I recommend the Dave Bazan episode if you want to get addicted to this podcast.

This Podcast is among my favorites without a doubt. The conversations in these episodes resemble the ones I enjoy the most in my own life. His analytical approach is spot on and he is very good at articulating his thoughts and ideas. I fully intend on supporting this Podcast financially and I would encourage everyone else to do the same!

Matt's knowledge of and aptitude for music is very impressive. On top of that, his honesty into his writing, recording, and finishing process make this podcast a home run. Whether you are interested in the finest details of Emery songs or just want to hear some good ol' southern accents, this podcast delivers a perfect blend of humor, learning and fun. Big thanks to Matt and all the guests for doing this!

I love dismantling songwriting and recording, and Matt does it down to the bare skeleton of the process, bringing in music theory and his years of experience. Occasionally, Matt will play a song with his interviewee, and they will provide a commentary track of sorts, discussing the chord structures, the mixing process, etc. So far, this has been a fantastic listen for me and I'm excited to see what future guests he brings on the show!

He's a friend of Underøath, so yeah he's DOPE.

Allowing a fan base to have the insight that Matt and Toby give on their new Emery album is some of the best marketing that I have ever seen! I was truely wondering how it would continue after the album was full released but the interviews afterwards are incredible. This podcast is entertaining, insightful, and cerebral, what more could you want!

Love your music and this podcast. It'd be cool to hear more about Emery's earlier albums as well!
