Heresy?
Pastor Morris’s sermon on fundamentalism didn’t contain any scripture? Is he preaching/teaching, or giving pep-talks? Multiple other sermons utilize scripture verses that have been taken out of context, and I feel, misapplied to a dissimilar modern situation. I didn’t attend seminary, but I am wondering, did he? Is he one of the false prophets that Elijah, the 8th century prophets, and Jesus spoke about? Seems like the apostle Paul was referring to Austin New Church, when he dictated the words of Romans 16:17-18. Just my two cents...

Holy, sacred space
I thought I had healed, I thought I was coping well with sexism in my world. Yet, I find myself sobbing in my back yard as I listen, hoping no one hears and still wanting to share this truth with everyone I know. These words named every feeling and touched every need that this 57-year-old seminary graduate didn’t even know she still had. Thank you. I hold this as sacred and will share with my sisters and my allies. God bless your willing spirit.

Summer 2019 isms of Christianity
Incredible. Thank you for “going there,” and talking about the untouchables, the weeds and the wheat all mixed together. I look forward to listening the rest of the summer. I’m reading The Last Week by Crossan and Borg and they describe the domination systems that existed and that Jesus confronted during his life and his last week on earth. The systems Jesus was challenging seem to mirror the -isms we can choose to challenge today just with a 2019, American look. The cultural topics may be different but the domination system he/we are resisting is the same or at the very least similar.

Thank you, Jen Hatmaker
I so appreciate the 9/2/2018 message Jen Hatmaker taught on the Prodigal Son parable. Her presenting the context of this parable with that of the Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin- the increasing perceived value of each- I found helpful and enlightening. Her simple, yet rich, message is worth a listen .

She Gets It
One thing I love about Jens preaching is that she is so willing to find herself and her experience in the Bible narrative. She makes the stories of the Bible SO RELATABLE. I was crying my eyes out as she (in her second point)”He’s just the gardener” describes a very painful time in her ministry where she felt “left for dead”...and how one nurturing, kind, UNEXPECTED event speaks her name (with a banner), and she recognizes: This wasn’t just the gardener. THIS was Jesus. I’m there. In this same place. Grieving so much I’m oblivious to the miracle that may be right in front of me. Trying to know if my ministry/calling is ever going to come out of the tomb. Jesus: our wounded Healer. Doesn’t mock us for our doubt, but feels loved by us in our questions about His suffering. Thank you, Jen. For your loud and constantly resounding word, “We can trust Him. We can trust the stories about Him. Our Jesus can and WILL STAND against our doubt. Against our unbelief. Jesus is trustworthy.” Thank you for hearing Him call your name...and realizing there is life again after death.

Good things
I love my Church home at The Table in Sacramento, CA but I love to geek out over other churches doing good things. I’ve been listening to your community’s journey for a few years now and love your message. Also, I’m super excited about the new things going on in the UMC and how you guys will be coming alongside a local church.Keep it up ANC!

Faithful Listener
I love my local church, my pastor, and church family. I serve my church and my community in LA. People here have walls up that I did not experience in TN, but they are getting a taste of southern hospitality! Listening to these sermons weekly help me become a better Christian, a better person, and a much better neighbor. Thank you ANC for what you do for the kingdom. It is making a lasting impact well outside your local community.
