I didn’t enjoy this podcast. It meanders, the host takes forever to say stuff, and it seems very surface level. No real insight, a lot of just repeating the plot. There are much better review podcasts out there.

Seriously, John and his energetic band of weekly guests cover a breadth of topics including cinema, video games, pop culture, etc - and the best part is they don't take themselves too seriously like your ordinary, outdated, snooty critics. When podcasts started poppin' up EVERYWHERE, I never imagined wanting to listen to something that long. In this case, I was wrong - not only are the topics and opinions informative and entertaining...they actually keep things moving along and engage. There's a gem or six in every episode. Fill your ears with this stuff - they'll thank you!

It's unlike anything else I listen to and that's mostly because of the passion he infuses into everything he discuses. John is knowledgeable without being pretentious, and is also one of the best interviewers I've ever heard. You can expect lots of laughts, too, as the crew never take themselves too seriously. This podcast is one of the highlights of my week, every week. What I really appreciate about That Guy John is that he takes a tempered, balanced approach to reviewing movies, accompanied by an ample amount of research. His reviews are almost always spot on, and I can depend on him for firm recommendations.

What I enjoy most about this podcast is the amount of knowledge John and his guests have about the topics they discuss. It's clear that John has a black belt in all things Geek Culture, which is awesome, and makes for a very entertaining and informative listen.

I had the disctinct pleasure of meeting John at a cultural event in the arts district of Vancouver! Afterward, I truly enjoyed listened to his podcast. I'm hooked! He's insightful, knowledgeable, probing, a true Renaissance Man – not to mention, he has a beard of legends. Covering topics from pop culture, movies, the new golden age of television, web series, gaming, cocktails - he's an aficionado of geek chic! I look forward to meeting John again someday to discuss our favorite creature actor and unsung hero performer, Doug Jones. No doubt we'll toast him with a Dark and Stormy & Old Fashioned in hand. After listening to more of John's podcast, I've decided since Dos Equis replaced Jonathan Goldsmith with some wee lad, John is now officially “the most interesting man in the world.”

These guys make it feel like you're listening to good friend give solid opinions and advice. There's a nice, relaxed vibe and I really appreciate the local support along with the national film reviews.

John nails reviews on all sorts of entertainment in a way that is definitely unique and also funny! As a movie aficionado myself, I definitely recommend this podcast!

This podcast is super fun! John is awesome and regularly has great guests. Guests such as Andy and the the curly show crew are awesome. It's not pretentious like some (see NPR pop culture happy hour) or poorly produced like many pop culture podcasts. 10/10 would recommend again PS: frequent guest tim hall is also pretty great!!!

It's such a pleasant surprise when I listen to the latest episode and I hear Tim, The People's critic's voice. Another great show John and I wouldn't mind a 90's R&B episode! Every week a great guest, it makes the show really fun.

John reviews films, games, and other things he's passionate about. I love that it's a podcast about a variety of things. One week he'll review something you're familiar with, and the next he'll introduce you to something or someone new. John and his guest have great discussions and challenge the ways you look at things you enjoy. I can't wait to hear more

I like how John's reviews add a touch of humor while still giving fair critiques. He engages well with his guests, and does a good job giving spoiler-free reviews. I'm looking forward to more episodes! 😀
