This is genius! I love my true crime podcasts and I think they were all represented in this one. Thank you for the laugh.

Nails how absurd, irresponsible, insufferable and conceited true crime podcast hosts can be sometimes. It’s more amusing than hilarious. Some of the other reviewers need to look up the definition of satire.

I really like satire & this is cute but not crazy about the blatant racism. That’s NOT cute.

I first listened in 2019 and still come back periodically when I need a good laugh. Satirical comedy at its best!

This got me!!! It’s a fake story. A parody of true crime. I laughed at what was going on once I realized there was no way it was real. Well done for a fake story.

I listen to so many actual true crime podcasts and I loved everything about this podcast. So many components of a normal true crime podcast but satirical and didn’t make me concerned for my actual safety, which is cool sometimes.

I’m frightened by some of these reviews! I mean C’mon, A VERY FATAL MURDER by The Onion? Where have these people been? THE ONION. Go google it Folks who don’t know The Onion..... BEST SATIRE EVER. This Podcast has EVERY single “worst of” True Crime Podcasts right here AND DONE SO WELL !! I would LOVE TO WORK AT THE ONION PODCAST NETWORK. 👏 👏!

I live in Bluff Springs and I swear on the Bible and realness of the lord in heaven Jesus that this Podcast is NOTHING but the FACTS. With God as my witness I swear, Only facts and logic here. Yep, yep, yep.

I listen to horror, sci-fi, true crime, documentaries, fiction, and have become quite selective. But this was just plain, good old mid-western fun!

My co-workers are annoyed by my laughter. PLEASE add season 2.

Wickedly delightful

Dear people who think this is real...how have you managed to survive life this long? For everyone else who loves podcasts and murder investigations -this is a goldmine! I’m planning on using it in my AP class for our satire unit. Brilliant.

Had to skip forward in the first few minutes to try to get past whatever audio noise was used to depict ‘Ethel’, like nails on a chalkboard, and a few other creative audio pieces are jarring to the ears. Probably won’t last long in this series if it keeps up.

I never write reviews but this might be the worst podcast ever. Don’t waste your time.

Normally I don’t leave negative reviews but I couldn’t even take the insensitivity the interviewer had for the family and it seemed very scripted? I don’t know it just wasn’t good.

Like most things the Onion does it’s done well enough to confuse some people.

Why does this sound like the people are acting? Are they?

Parts are really funny but ultimately each episode just gets more lost. Ended preachy as if they didn’t know how to land the whole creation.

Nothing but facts. This is the most compelling murder case ever. Clearly nothing but facts.

The Onion network is a pro in the satirical entertainment; A Very Fatal Murder is no exception. The writers left no true crime podcast trope untouched, from the creation of fake sponsors/commercials to the over-the-top, gruesome narrative approach to grab audience attention. All the one-star reviews from offended listeners are a unintended stamp of approval that the Onion has not lost their wit nor boldness. The few hours of content are an instant binge worthy, laugh out loud experience you’ll want to share with all your good-humored friends. If you are offended by satire, I feel bad for you son; I’ve got 99 problems, but laughing at comedic fake stories ain’t one!

Great podcast, too bad I have to pay a subscription fee to a completely different service in order to listen to more than the first episode of season 2. Not gonna happen, Luminary!

Started off funny, half way through it became stupid and continued down hill. The ending was flat.

Layers and layers of crazy smart humor. Who knew that being shot, stabbed, drowned, strangled and given a manicure, haircut and an ugly shirt could be so fatal?

Could have been great but over the top in playing on parents’ trust and vulnerability.

I love comedy and I like true crime but, in the first few minutes, I couldn’t take the insensitivity. It’s not really funny. The thing that strikes me most when listening to true crime podcasts is the pain people experience when their loved ones are lost. This podcast just gets it wrong. I enjoy dark comedies. Santa Clarita Diet, Jawbreaker, etc. but something about this show just seems really insensitive and off. The acting is pretty over the top and bad too. Not funny and not for me.

As someone who enjoys true crime podcasts, but also feels uncomfortable with some aspects, I was looking forward to a satire. But the whole thing is very one note and really fails to make any new or interesting points. I recommend American Vandal for people really interested in a parody that is both entertaining in its own right and calls out some facets of true crime entertainment.

Everything you want from a parody podcast if you are into crime podcasts.

I really tried. But the crying lady reading the ad was the end for me.
