On this show, Julie and Kaz discuss Gratitude - noticing and paying service to things you are grateful for. Finding one simple thing to give thanks for and writing it down can lead to a list as long as your arm! You are likely grateful for more things than you take notice of..and there were be days where you feel you are not fortunate and don't have much to be grateful for. That is what the 'practice' of gratitude does - it 'forces' you to recognize as many things as you wish, to demonstrate that most if not all of us have many things to be grateful for. The other part of the equation is that most people feel that when you practice gratitude, more things that you can be grateful for come your way! And, doesn't it always seem that when you focus on negative things, more come your way? Everything is energy, so attract the good and reject the bad! Welcome to the Kaz and Julie Show (also known as the Julie and Kaz Show). We are two passionate entrepreneurs from the health and wellness industry, sharing our knowledge and opinions with the world. Chuck Bastie interviews skater Amanda Evora and Colton Orr about their reasons for Amanda choosing Boys and Girls Club of Canada as her charity of choice, and Colton choosing Smilezone! Amanda Evora is competing with Colton Orr. She is skating for the Boys and Girls Club of Canada. Colton Orr is competing with Amanda Evora. He is skating for Smilezone. Amanda Evora is a New York-born American pairs figure skater. At the age of 17, Evora moved to Florida to pursue a career as a figure skater. Over the span of a decade, she became a five-time pairs medalist alongside her longtime partner Mark Ladwig. The two represented Team U.S.A. at numerous international competitions. After years of being a well-respected skater, she retired in 2012 — but never officially put her blades away. In 2013 Evora came out on top as the winner (alongside her partner Scott Thornton) of Battle of the Blades Season 4, and won $100,000 towards the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation that season. She continues to coach figure skating alongside her former coach and mentor Jim Peterson. The two have had one team make it to the 2014 Olympics and also had another pairs team win at the US Championship in 2016. This season, Evora is competing with Colton Orr as her partner. She is skating for the Boys and Girls Club of Canada — an organization dedicated to encouraging and empowering children, and helping them carve out a successful path for their futures. Winnipeg native Colton Orr began his hockey career at the age of 11 — just a bit later than his NHL counterparts. Despite this, Orr excelled in hockey and after years of playing as a junior was signed as a free agent in 2002 to the Boston Bruins. From there, he was signed to the New York Rangers where he remained as a powerhouse player for the next four seasons. In 2009 he signed a $4-million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he remained for eight years until his retirement. Orr has remained heavily involved in the hockey world, as a youth coach at the Colton Orr Hockey Academy. He currently resides in New York with his wife Sabrina and his children. I was born and raised in Corner Brook , Nfld. Grew up in a small bungalow next to a brook in a valley , surrounded by trees and granite, animals, fields and mayhem. Therefore because of that bounty I assume a strong thread with nature somehow seeped into me. Lots of fun and time outdoors ...from a family of 12... ( probably that is why all the time outdoors.) And plenty of life unfolded via treasures and thorns up and down and all around the road that I lived on. Which I still am called back to. All of this plus family and friends would have contributed ideas, murmurs and gifts to my poetry and stories that I started into about fifteen years ago. And I am fortunate to be still opening and listening to and attempting to sculpt those worlds into words today. I am in the process of publishing my first book of poetry, Wooden Bridges and Other Realms. Also am working on a book of short stories and a full length book, ( Lemon Pies. ) It is creative nonfiction and deals with growing up in Nfld as an eight old year old Catlic boy caught in the blurry mist of potholes, and floor toast, leaves and belief systems. I am a member of the Brooklin Poetry Society and the Nomads poetry group. Was a member of the Ontario Poetry Society and WCDR, Writers Community of Durham. Worked for the Durham School Board. I live in Whitby, Ontario.

Chuck Bastie interviews former NHL hockey player and skater Brian McGrattan and skater Vanessa James as they say goodby to Battle Of The Blades for 2019. They also discuss the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) as Brian's charity of choice, and Alzheimer Society of Canada as Vanessa's charity of choice! Brian McGrattan is competing with Vanessa James. He is skating for the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society. Brian McGrattan began his hockey career as a minor league player in Hamilton, Ontario. He was known as the top scorer on his team, which helped him catch the attention of the Ontario Hockey League in 1997. He played five seasons on multiple teams, scoring a staggering 21 goals in only 31 games between 2000/2001. McGrattan made his NHL debut in 2005 as a top enforcer for the Ottawa Senators, and made a name for himself as one of the best enforcers in the league. After being traded in 2008 to the Phoenix Coyotes, McGrattan struggled with substance abuse which required the NHL superstar to seek rehabilitation that would change his life for the better. McGrattan later returned to hockey with a new outlook on life, and returned to the Calgary Flames where he became a positive influence amongst his team. McGrattan moved on to play overseas with the Nottingham Panthers in England where he retired as a hockey player in 2017. Although McGrattan retired, he never abandoned hockey completely, taking on a position as the director of player assistance for the Flames providing mentorship to players in need. McGrattan is competing with Vanessa James as his partner. He is skating for the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society — a charity that works towards helping find shelter for homeless animals in Alberta communities. For more information about about Vanessa's charity of choice, go to https://alzheimer.ca/en/Home Vanessa James is competing with Brian McGrattan. She is now a six-time French pairs champion, 2018 Grand Prix champion, 2018 World bronze medallist, and most recently the 2019 European champion with her partner Morgan Ciprès. Chuck Bastie interviews skaters Amanda Kessel and Eric Radford, as they were eliminated last week on Battle Of The Blades. Amanda and Eric discuss their participation in the show, as well as the good fortune working with their charities, SickKids Foundation and AMANDA KESSEL is competing with Eric Radford. Most recently, she helped her team win gold in PyeongChang, South Korea in 2018. Outside of hockey, she runs her own clothing line, AK28, with Gongshow Gear. A year later she retired from amateur figure skating to join the Moscow Circus on Ice with her family. At 14, Afanasieva debuted her hula-hoops act in Russia. She began skating with Holiday on Ice, where she met her future pairs partner and future husband, Pete Dack — a Canadian ice skater. The two have gone on to win the first-ever World Extreme Figure Skating Championship in 2006, and have toured in Canada, Europe, South Africa and South America. A fan favourite for Seasons 2 through 4 of Battle of the Blades, Afanasieva was the first runner up in Season 4 alongside partner Jason Strudwick. She has skated professionally on ice for 25 years and now coaches at the Thornhill Figure Skating Club. This season, Afanasieva rejoins her Season 2 partner, P.J. Stock. She is skating for the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes — a charity that provides protection and provision for the humane care and treatment of all animals. Chuck Bastie interviews skater Amanda Kessel as well as her reasons for choosing SickKids Hospital Foundation as her charity of choice! Chuck also chats with Colin Henniger, VP of Major Gifts of the SickKids Foundation about the wonderful partnership they have with Amanda! Wisconsin born Amanda Kessel has always been a natural at hockey. Coming from a sports-oriented family, there is no shortage of talent across the Kessel board. Her father was drafted into professional football, and her brothers, Phil and Blake, are also professional hockey players. Kessel played for four years at college level hockey, and helped her team win three national championships. In 2013 she was selected as the winner of the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. Kessel has been on Team U.S.A. since 2008 and in the 2014 Sochi Olympics in Russia, she helped lead her team to a silver-medal win. Most recently, she helped her team win gold in PyeongChang, South Korea in 2018. Outside of hockey, she runs her own clothing line, AK28, with Gongshow Gear. She now devotes her time to supporting the growth and development of young women in hockey, and helping create opportunity for girls who have a dream of getting onto the ice. Chuck Bastie interviews skater Eric Radford, about his participation on CBC TV's "Battle Of The Blades", as well as his reasons for choosing Egale Canada as his charity of choice! Chuck also chats with Helen Kennedy, the Executive Director of Egale Canada about the wonderful partnership with Eric! The Manitoba-born figure skater is a three-time Olympic games medalist and has won multiple other titles with his skating partner Meagan Duhamel. Radford is the only openly gay male to have won an Olympic Games gold medal. He is an advocate for the Canadian Olympic Committee's #OneTeam initiative, which supports LGBTQ inclusion and promotion in the sport. Inspired by skaters such as Kurt Browning in the early 1990's, Radford began skating at the age of eight. He moved away from home at the age of 14 to pursue his figure skating career, and hasn't looked back since. He is a back-to-back world champion (2015 and 2016) and in 2018, he and Duhamel became the first pair to successfully complete a quadruple throw jump at any Winter Olympic competition. Radford is competing with Amanda Kessel as his partner. He is skating for Egale — an organization dedicated to improving the lives of all LGBTQI2S people. Chuck Bastie chats with Amanda Evora and Scott Thornton, from CBC Television's "Battle Of The Blades". American skater Amanda Evora and retired NHLer Scott Thornton have triumphed, winning the fourth season of CBC-TV's Battle of the Blades. Evora and Thornton were declared champions of the televised skating competition Sunday night in Toronto, after earning the most public votes ahead of the season finale. Evora is a two-time U.S. pairs silver medallist, while Thornton had a nearly two-decade long career in the NHL, playing in Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Jose. As part of their win, Evora and Thornton chose the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to receive a $100,000 donation. The pair beat out stiff competition from fellow finalists Violetta Afanasieva and Jason Strudwick and Marie-France Dubreuil and Mathieu Dandenault. All of this year's 16 skaters returned for Sunday's finale to perform in a group number. To get in touch with Chuck, email chuckbastie@gmail.com or call Listen UP Talk Radio at 1-866-269-6155.

On show #5, Justin talks hockey and life with Philadelphia Flyer great Mark Howe! Mark is one of only four Flyers to be inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame and his #2 hangs from the rafters. But what Mark Howe was as a player is second to who Mark Howe is as a person. That is the ultimate tribute to the people who raised him, Gordie and Coleen Howe. Listen as Mark reminisces about his career, speaks warmly about his legendary mom and dad and explains to us how Gordie’s biggest contribution to this world may not have been on the ice, but in the area of medicine! Mark Steven Howe (born May 28, 1955) is a retired American professional ice hockey left winger and later defenseman who played sixteen seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) and six seasons in the World Hockey Association (WHA). He is currently serving the Director of Pro Scouting for the Detroit Red Wings.[1] He is the son of Gordie and Colleen Howe, younger brother of Marty Howe, and nephew of Vic Howe. Despite the enormous shadow cast by his father and splitting time between two leagues, Howe shone as one of the best two-way NHL defensemen of the 1980s, being a three-time runner-up for the Norris Trophy and making the Stanley Cup finals three times as a player. He is a member of both the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and the Hockey Hall of Fame in to which he was inducted in 2011.[2] The Howe family received the Wayne Gretzky International Award in 2000, for major contributions to the growth and advancement of hockey in the United States. On show #6, Justin talks NASA and the shuttle program with Rick Boisjoly, brother of Roger Boisjoly, who worked for Morton Thiokol, the manufacturer of the solid rocket boosters (SRBs) for the Space Shuttle program. Join me and Rick Boisjoly as we discuss his brother, Roger Boisjoly. Roger was one of the only men with enough compassion and strength to try to stop the launch of the ill-fated Challenger launch in 1986. Hear the chilling story of this whistleblower who is a champion to anyone who believes that ethics matter. Roger Mark Boisjoly (/boʊʒəˈleɪ/ boh-zhə-LAY;[2] April 25, 1938 – January 6, 2012) was an American mechanical engineer, fluid dynamicist, and an aerodynamicist. He is best known for having raised strenuous objections to the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger the day before the loss of the spacecraft and its crew in January 1986. Boisjoly correctly predicted, based on earlier flight data, that the O-rings on the rocket boosters would fail if the shuttle launched in cold weather. On show #2, Justin talks miracles, faith and strength with longtime QVC star Dan Wheeler. Dan shows us how God's infinite love and grace can carry us through the suffering and death of someone who means the world to us. Hear Dan's story and let it touch your heart! During the Spring semester of 1974 Dan Wheeler hosted his first radio show on his college campus radio station in Springfield, MO. That was his first taste of “live broadcasting” and thirty- five years later Dan has logged more than 10,000 hours of live television. That’s more than Jay Leno and David Letterman combined. For the past 20 years, Dan has been one of the top hosts for the number one electronic retailer in the world, QVC. He has interviewed hundreds of superstars from the world of sports, entertainment, politics and industry. His long list of interviewees includes Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Cal Ripken, Jr., George Foreman, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Bob Hope, Charlton Heston, Morgan Fairchild, Smokey Robinson, Michael McDonald, Martina McBride, Senator Bill Bradley and hundreds of others. Most of Dan’s work on live television has been without the aid of teleprompters, cue cards or scripts. Having done this for so long he is able to take a director’s concept and bring it to life, without a script, in one or two takes. In 1999, Dan authored a book entitled, Best Seat in the House in which he chronicled many untold stories of sports legends such as Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, George Foreman and others. In the book he draws the life lessons he learned observing them both in the spotlight and away from the cameras. Dan is also a dynamic public speaker who weaves fascinating stories of legendary athletes, performers and inventors to communicate powerful spiritual truths. His years of live tv have given him a unique ability to connect with an audience and inspire them to live each day to it’s fullest!
