This week I'll be talking with Marianne Williamson, internationally acclaimed spiritual author and lecturer, about her February 13-15 weekend workshop "Invoking the Romantic Mysteries: A Weekend on Relationships and Spirituality" to be held in Los Angeles and livestreamed at http://marianne.com/romantic_mysteries/ (http://marianne.com/romantic_mysteries/). Marianne has been a popular guest on television programs such as Oprah, Larry King Live, Good Morning America and Charlie Rose. Six of her eleven published books have been New York Times Best Sellers. Four of these have been #1 New York Times Best Sellers. A Return to Love is considered a must-read of The New Spirituality. A paragraph from that book, beginning "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure..." is considered an anthem for a contemporary generation of seekers. Marianne's other books include The Law of Divine Compensation, The Age of Miracles, Everyday Grace, A Woman's Worth, Illuminata, Healing the Soul of America, A Course in Weight Loss, The Gift of Change, and A Year of Miracles.    (http://webtalkradio.net/files/2015/02/MW-London-Cropped-Nice-150x150.png) Marianne is a native of Houston, Texas. In 1989, she founded Project Angel Food, a meals-on-wheels program that serves homebound people with AIDS in the Los Angeles area. Today, Project Angel Food serves over 1,000 people daily. Marianne also co-founded the Peace Alliance. And she serves on the Board of Directors of the RESULTS organization, working to end the worst ravages of hunger and poverty throughout the world. According to Time magazine, "Yoga, the Cabala and Marianne Williamson have been taken up by those seeking a relationship with God that is not strictly tethered to Christianity." Join me for a fascinating and heart opening discussion with spiritual icon Marianne Williamson!

And did you also know that you could actually be very sexually compatible with someone for whom you don’t initially feel sexual fireworks! Let’s face it. A good roll in the hay is one of life’s greatest pleasures! But, despite a particularly great sexcapade, do you still find yourself scratching your head (I mean your big head!). Well rest assured. You’re not alone! While everyone knows what it feels like to be in lust, sexual attraction does not equal sexual compatibility! In fact, you could be wildly attracted to somebody and have lousy sex to say nothing of wanting that person to stick around and eat scrambled eggs in the morning. In this show, I’m going to lay all the cards on the table and take you through a thorough sexploration of the anatomy of sexual compatibility. From the scent of your sweat to size of your lips…we’re going to get down to the nitty-gritty so you can know, once and for all, how to determine whether you’re truly sexually compatible with someone or not.

This is the question that bestselling author, Dianne Collins, asks you to ask yourself. Collins asserts that the human race is at a critical juncture in its development and it is our collective responsibility to evolve our thought process or face the consequences. Ms. Collins explains that our thinking has not evolved past an ‘Industrial Age’ paradigm rooted in a mechanical world view. Einstein’s relativity and the quantum physics of the 20th century initiated a process of dismantling this archaic model. Just as quantum physics redefined the physical world, the aim of Quantum Thinking is to reinvent perception in a way that is better suited for the shifting realities of modern times. The message of Do You QuantumThink? is divided among “21 QuantumThink Distinctions” which blend scientific knowledge, spiritual wisdom, and current philosophy into a practical modern approach that will attune the readers to the essence of our time and the ability to think in sync with it. Some important concepts that you will draw from Do You QuantumThink? are: * The power of Intent to manifest results in Observer-created Reality * The disciplined use of Intuition as our access to the non-local field of Infinite Intelligence * Listening as a dimension of being rather than a skill * Awareness to notice and interrupt limited thinking patterns and move beyond them * How Mind generates Emotion and how to use this dynamic energy to our advantage Tune in for a thought provoking and mind expanding show with bestselling author Dianne Collins!

Some relationships are meant to last a lifetime and beyond. And, sometimes people come into our lives for a brief time to assist us in learning an important lesson, and then they move on. The real question is: How can you tell which relationships are meant to last… And when it’s time to call it quits on a relationship? Is fighting a sign that it’s time to say good-bye? Not always! Many fighting couples wrongly assume that they’re incompatible and that they should break up. But, believe it or not, fighting isn’t usually caused by incompatibility. In fact, very compatible couples fight because they’re carrying Old Scars--the secret cause of most relationship fighting. And, when the Old Scars get healed (that’s what my book Kiss Your Fights Good-bye is all about) the fighting just goes away.) The best way to heal our Old Scars is to use our partners and our relationship to assist our healing efforts. If you don’t do this, and you take a hike, you’re just going to carry your Old Scars into the next relationship, and you’ll end up right where you started again. I know a lot of couples think that they’ve done all they can. Maybe they’ve tried couples therapy and still they aren’t doing well. Remember, not all couples therapy is created equal. I see a lot of couples who have done lots of couples therapy and gotten nowhere. You need to make sure that you’re putting your efforts in the right place, and doing what works! So, let’s say you’ve given it your best shot, and you’ve done your best to heal your Old Scars, and still the relationship doesn’t work. How do you know when it’s time to say good-bye? And, what is the correct way to end your relationship so that you don’t do yourself and your partner harm? And.... How can you actually grow from the break-up and become more, rather than less, open to love. These are the questions that I’m going to be tackling with Jayson Gaddis, a relationship expert and a breakthrough marriage coach. Jayson helps individuals and couples get unstuck, and eliminate the blocks to having empowered, mature relationships. He’s on the planet to help people master love and relationship. He’s a husband and part-time stay-at-home dad getting schooled by his two cosmic kids. -

Ladies, do you often feel as though guys have x-ray vision? And they’re stripping you with their eyes? This week, you’re going to meet author David Mathews, an Emmy award-winning composer/writer/producer who has worked for such shows as "The Young and the Restless," "Mad About You," The Nanny," "Living Single," and "Half & Half." His experiences in and out of 'show biz' give him a unique perspective that he shares openly, boldly, and humorously with anyone who'll listen. Dave says that he’s a keen observer of human behavior. And, for as long as he can remember, female friends, relatives, co-workers, and even strangers on line at Target have been asking him to explain what makes men tick. David says, "Mostly, these women were baffled by how men behaved. So I found myself regularly giving impromptu tutorials on 'how men think.'" It was this universal angst and frustration that motivated him to write: Every Man Sees You Naked: An Insider's Guide to How Men Think. In his book, as well as his interviews, advice columns and personal coaching, David tackles the questions of male/female relationships in a straightforward and humorous way. In this edition of Ask Dr. Love radio, I’m turning the spotlight on the Silent Treatment. I’ll be discussing an article on the Silent Treatment that just ran in the Wall Street Journal http://online.wsj.com/articles/how-and-why-to-ban-the-silent-treatment-from-your-relationship-1402958807 (http://online.wsj.com/articles/how-and-why-to-ban-the-silent-treatment-from-your-relationship-1402958807). In this article, the journalist noted that the silent treatment is one of the most common forms of conflict within a romantic relationship. She also wrote that this behavior is linked to the "demand-withdraw" pattern. And, she said, “It happens when one partner repeatedly approaches the other with a request, whether asking for attention or change—or giving criticism—and is met with avoidance or silence.” In the article, the journalist missed the essential aspect of the problem! That is the chemical imbalance that arises in us when criticism has taken over the relationship. Did the criticism develop as a result of chronic unresolved conflict? Or is it more likely that criticism created withdrawal reactions in the receiver of the criticism, with only led to more unresolved conflict, more withdrawal and even more criticism. To break the silent treatment pattern, both partners need to work together. The critical partner needs to stop pushing the other’s buttons by dishing criticism and, instead, learn to speak in more constructive ways. Did you know that rats have much to teach us about life and love? If you’re like most people, you’re a creature of habit. There’s actually a technical name for this: the status quo resistance. This resistance leads most humans to stick with the familiar and resist change. And when it comes to our relationships, we act the same way again and again, even when our actions don’t achieve the desired results. Tune in to this week’s show to find out how rats can help us break out of our unproductive behavioral loops. If you’re like most people, you yearn to find enduring love, the kind of love that lasts a lifetime and beyond. Could yoga be a path to finding this kind of love? This week, I’ll be introducing you to Peter Sklivas who has practiced yoga and meditation for more than 30 years. In 2006, he created HotCore Yoga, combining hot yoga with body mechanics, ujaya breath, and spiritual awareness. He currently teaches yoga at his studio in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts. Peter completed his first novel during a pilgrimage to the sacred river Ganga in Rishikesh, India. Peter Sklivas’s spiritual first novel, The Secret of Enduring Love: Yoga Romance of Damayanti and Nala, is a 21st century retelling of an ancient Vedic tale from India. Brimming with romance, this delightful tantric love story offers an engaging introduction to yoga as a powerful tool for transformation and love. His novel has garnered the praise of highly respected reviewers including Kirkus Reviews who says: “Author Peter Sklivas has accomplished a remarkable novel blending elements of historical romance with principles and legends of India's fabled yoga traditions. The result is an original and engaging entertainment from first page to last! "The Secret of Enduring Love: Yoga Romance of Damayanti and Nala" is very highly recommended for personal reading lists and community library collections. I’m excited to share with you Peter’s ideas on the link between yoga and enduring love. If you listen to mainstream psychologists, the answer is a resounding “no!” And, in fact, many psychologists say that the soul mate concept sets people up for disappointment. Shrinks also say that the immediate sense of soul connection is nothing more than an unconscious recognition of a person who resembles a parent. This week, I’ll be introducing you to Mali Apple and Joe Dunn, relationship coaches, lovers, and best friends. When Mali and Joe met 11 years ago, they experienced a deeply profound feeling of connection. As the love and passion between them continued to grow, they eventually dedicated their relationship to discovering how to continually create a magical life together. Their intention with all their work is to teach singles and couples how to create and sustain exciting, compelling, and deeply connected relationships. Their bestselling book The Soulmate Experience: A Practical Guide to Creating Extraordinary Relationships won a 2012 International Book Awards gold medal and a 2012 Living Now Awards silver medal. The book has been called “A relationship guide masterpiece,” “A catalyst for transformation in life, relationships, and self,” “Inspiring, motivational, and truly remarkable.” Mali and Joe’s most recent collaborations are the book 52 Prescriptions for Happiness: A Year of Inspiration for the Body, Mind, and Soul and the audio release Mantras for Making Love. They are currently at work on the second book in “The Soulmate Experience” series, The Soulmate Lover. Tune in for what I am sure will be an exciting show that sheds light on the question of whether or not soulmates are real! Do you often feel like your partner is putting you down or blaming you...even when he/she swears that’s not the case? If you said, “yes,” you may be suffering from what’s called Excessive Personalization. Excessive Personalization is a cognitive distortion that springs out of the narcissism of childhood in which kids believe the world revolves around them. Many people never outgrow the “baby brain.” This combined with being criticized as a child can result in the tendency to self-blame and to hear criticism from our partners even when criticism isn’t being delivered. And when you feel criticized and put down, the natural reaction is to become angry. Of course, anger begets an angry response. This leads to a downward spiral of fighting that has divorce (or breakup) written all over it. There is a way out! Listen to this week’s show and discover my 7 steps for eliminating Excessive Personalization. When you discover how to train your brain to level with you, rather than level you, you will be able to substitute Excessive Personalization for the ability to see and hear what your partner is actually saying! When this happens, it’s time to sit back and watch your relationship soar to new levels of happiness and joy.

Most of us like to travel, but I don’t know anyone who enjoys being taken on a guilt trip! Last week, I posted an article on Psychology Today in which I discussed how to not get taken on a guilt trip. The editors loved the article and featured one of my quotes. Within 24 hours, the article had 4.6K LIKES! That told me that there’s a lot of interest in this topic. So, I decided to do an entire show on it. So, in this show, I'll be focusing on the psychology of guilt tripping. We’ll discuss the many reasons why people lay them. Such as: a lack of communication skills, an inability to directly state one’s needs and even buried anger. We will also be looking at why some people are more willing than others to be taken for a ride. These reasons include having been blamed as a child, having a guilty conscience and feeling deserving of blame, and much more. Lastly, we’ll be talking about what victims of guilt tripping do, without knowing it, to reward the guilt tripper, which only encourages more of the same. And, most importantly, I'll show you how to put a stop to the trips and how to teach the guilt tripper to replace these tactics with healthy communications. Tune in for what is sure to be a very eye opening and liberating show.
