Iann started out with humble beginnings, working at nightclubs in New York at a young age. Growing up with a lot of DJ’s he always had a deep passion and respect for DJing and electronic music. After taking a break from the scene he moved to Philadelphia in 2013 and his love of house music was reinvigorated by the tight-knit dance community he fell into. His DJing career started by playing intimate gatherings late nights into mornings winning over the hearts and ears of those around him. In 2016 he stepped out from behind the scenes and into the spotlight to become a resident DJ in the Philadelphia Burning Man community and officially unofficial DJ of the infamous Camp Phuckit. Since making his debut he has played famous events such as the PEX Summer Festival & 2nd Street Shakedown, and at legendary venues like Silk City (Philly) and Flash Night Club (DC). With a style that ranges from deep and melodic techno to driving house and tech-house, his classic set construction and track selection has quickly made him a fan favorite. [Podcast Tracklisting] 01. In the late 1980s-1990’s, the word “rave” was adopted to describe the subculture that grew out of the acid house movement. Also around that same time that Dave later to be known as DJ SugarD hit the underground house music scene. Immediately hooked on the music, the vibe, the groove and culture of House music. It was 1993 that Sugar D got his first big break in Sacramento with his friend Guy Nado a.k.a. DJ Rasoul spinning at Faces at a weekly club called Virgin Mary. After successfully establishing a name for himself in the state capital and surrounding areas, Dave set his sights on San Francisco and eventually moved there in 1994, and continued to build his reputation as a stellar DJ for the next 2 years. During his time in The Bay , Sugar D played at some of the biggest name clubs such as The End Up, Sound Factory, Big Heart City, and 1015 Folsom. In 1996 while on a tour of Europe DJ Sugar D landed a residency playing at a club in Paris, after which he returned to his hometown of Sacramento where he continues to play special guest sets at some of the most exclusive underground Raves and Clubs from Sacramento to the bay. Notize is a 21-year-old producer from the Northern region of Denmark. At the age of 5, his 10 year older brother introduced him to the world of electronic music. With a background in minimal house and techno, his older brother embossed him in quite another direction than his friends in kindergarten. His first encounter with house music was from artists such as Booka shade, Sebastian Leger, Extrawelt & Dubfire. At the age of 15, he began experimenting with the art of producing music, and he quickly started exploring the different genres. The first productions were made in fruity loops, but not soon after, he got his first version of Ableton. Raised in Perth, Australia and breaking through as a top house music/electronica producer and DJ in San Francisco, Vincent Kwok is truly a musical citizen of the world. Establishing his behind the boards cred with massively popular remixes for everyone from underground artists Arnold Jarvis, Morrisson, Latrice Bennett and Lisa Shaw to top R&B stars like Pauline Henry of the Chimes (“Heaven”), Kenny Lattimore and Usher (“You Remind Me”), the versatile keyboardist has become a multi-faceted musical force as an artist, producer, label owner (Eight-Fifteen Records) and in demand live DJ. His career presents a unique dichotomy—while his own productions have earned high praise from top DJs Julius Papp, Jay-J and Miguel Migs, Vincent maintains a busy live spinning schedule himself. Renowned for his behind the deck magic at such legendary San Francisco clubs like the End-Up, the DNA Club and The Supper Club, he currently has monthly residencies at Harlot in San Francisco and another Bay Area hotspot, The Cardiff Lounge in Campbell. In 2003, Vincent and DJ MFR (Marco Celone), another top San Francisco based force in house music, began collaborating under the moniker New Mondo. Launching their dual vibe with dark, moody tracks perfect for the 3 a.m. crowd, the two gradually began exploring the funkier side of house on numerous remixes of other artists and their own recordings on well-known labels such as Bluem and Harley & Muscle’s Soulstar. In 2006, their track “Sexy” (released by Swank Records) became a best selling single, receiving some serious club play around the U.S. and especially throughout the U.K. and the rest of Europe. Earning accolades and recognition from across the dance spectrum for his trademark smooth mixing style and flawless programming of classy, funky and soulful house, Vincent was invited in 2004 to contribute to Frosted, one in a popular series of the Bargrooves DJ mix CDs released by London based Seamless Recordings. In addition to providing the mix for the entire 12 track double CD collection, he also had the opportunity to showcase two of his own compositions, “Love Is The Answer” and “Love Train,” a song he co-wrote with longtime Santana singer and eleven-time Grammy winner Tony Lindsay. Frosted was one of the highest selling releases in the series, reaching #23 on the Billboard Electronic Chart and leading to Vincent’s subsequent contributions to the Seamless Recordings radio program on Galaxy Radio in the U.K. His eclectic discography over the past few years has included 2005’s West Coast Excursion, Volume 2, a compilation of tracks defining the “West Coast Sound” that has become the highest selling CD ever for Transport Recordings; the New Mondo mix CD Downtown San Francisco. Most recently, Vincent has released a series of highly acclaimed tech infused tracks, Afrique Parts 1 and 2 which sees him taking blending African rhythms to tech based deep house. Vincent cut his teeth as a touring musician in a series of cover bands and original groups while living in Australia. He began listening to early Acid House during this time and was completely immersed in the music of this genre. After moving to San Francisco in the mid-90s, soon became involved in the edgy, hard grooving sounds of the burgeoning dance scene by the Bay. Learning from his experience in other genres the ultimate value of great songwriting, he believes that the key to success is the ability to write memorable melodies in addition to creating explosive beats. “It’s all music, every last sound that surrounds us is arranged with an unfathomable mathematical intelligence”. Statements such as this, and his love of proper, organic nutrition, point to a few causal factors of his heady yet grounded mixing and production style. His shift from detroit techno oriented sounds to a more dub laden regiment some time before the turn of the century lends to what can be expected from one of Heights’ sets … relaxingly energetic, and just as relevant at midnight as at 4am. Born October 1974 to a family with Philadelphian and South Jersey roots, Brian McNasby, AKA, Heights, has dwelled in and around Philadelphia for the entirety of his existence, and says he honestly cannot see himself uprooting any time soon. “The energy of this city is indescribable yet undeniable, and that force is often replicated in the music produced and played in it”. From elementary school drummer, to bass and rythym guitar in adolescent hardcore projects, it was an obvious progression to embracing turntablism shortly after introduction to Philadelphia’s budding warehouse party scene in 1992. He’s remained true to this art form since, playing and promoting reggae, dub and house music events in and around the city all the while. In 2006 Heights joined the ranks of Philadelphia based Ital Sound System, where, alongside selector Adam West, he continues to support and promote conscious reggae and heavyweight dub throughout the area. In 2013, Heights aligned with long time friend and colleague Rob Paine, of the mighty Worship Recordings. This amalgamation culminated in a 7″ dub release on Portlands coveted ZamZam label, under the moniker Heights & Worship. Extended and 4/4 mixes of the same track, released on Worship Recordings, and a low end masterpiece of a remix for Cologne based producer-drummer, DJ Razoof, rounded out the year quite nicely. 2014 birthed a remix for Thomas Blondet on his Rythym & Culture label out of DC and a follow up release for Portlands ZamZam just recently signed. When asked what the future holds for the one called Heights, he said ” Only the future knows, but, be it good or bad, i’m truly excited to find out”. [Podcast Tracklist] 01. Starting out in Philadelphia in the late 90’s Matt has been ekeing out a pittance playing funk-forward psychedelic emu noises (vinyl only, mild analog compression). Performing regularly to flocks of seagulls down by the wharf for over a decade and more recently to a small, yet inspired group of Western Grebes who call the oxbow downstream from the bridge at Bridgeport their home, Matt has developed a secret sense of admiration for our feathered friends. He hopes to communicate these feelings with you through song and dance. [Podcast Tracklist] 01. Simple Symmetry – Apes In The Orange Groove 02. Boka – Heartbroken City (The Glue Fantasy Remix) 03. Philadelphia’s Sean Thomas has been involved with subversive dance culture since 1995. Initially as one of the Circle Crew (fka Special K), throwing the massive “IT!” raves and “Yoman” club nights which helped expose proper music, sound and production throughout America’s East Coast. Later as DJ/Producer, earning his reputation and place among a storied list of Philly selectors. Terribly dedicated, Sean’s enthusiasm for well made House and Techno need be experienced on a dance floor to fully grasp. Drawing from an expansive knowledge of music and culture, his capacity to connect with crowds, transcend genre and create magic is highly developed. Compelled to explore the depths of sound and find new sonic pathways to movement, his distinct style of fearless, innovative mixing and refined selection keeps head and body engaged, awaiting each maneuver. As source of Sound Between Movement, an independent label set up around ’99 with guidance from friend and fellow artist Pete Moss, Sean steadily established his early production identity with a string of records including the standout “Living Music” 3 part series. Tallying releases, remixes and licensing for Berlin’s Get Physical Music, Philly’s Worship Recordings and Recline Records, Northern England’s Illusion Recordings and Vancouver’s long-running Nordic Trax, Sean’s mindful approach to music production has infiltrated discerning heads and DJs across the map for many years. Play and support of his music has come from the likes of Benji B. (BBC-Radio1, Deviation, UK), Catz ‘N Dogz (Pets, Poland), Doc Martin (Sublevel, LA), Chris Duckenfield (Swag, The Popular Peoples Front, Sheffield), Jimpster (Freerange, UK), Daniel Becker (Trickski, Berlin), Adam Shelton (One Records, UK), Pezzner (Viva, Toy Tonics, Seattle) and Philly’s own King Britt (Transmissions, Hyperdub, Five Six Media). With countless appearances across the US and as far as the UK to his name, Sean currently contributes as Resident for rizumu, Philadelphia’s most active and longest running Techno collective. This close-knit contingent of artists has developed over 14 years into a trusted institution for loft and warehouse habitués seeking a straight ahead style, DIY attitude and music-first mentality. As his focus remains fixed on the cultivation of his city’s present/future underground, consorting with rizumu has proven a perfect pairing. Looking forward into the future, Sean Thomas’ momentum and appeal are evident. As always, he shall proceed to further generate a standout array of useful productions and memorable mixes to raise expectation and set a tone that translates beautifully into valid vibrations, leaving you lifted. DJ Carl Michaels was just 16 when he bought a massive amount of DJ equipment, much to the chagrin of his father, who thought it was really irresponsible. More than 20 years later, that purchase ended up kicking off a passionate DJ career that very rarely strayed from house music. Carl mixes varying flavors of house music to create a signature sound. He values a mix of familiarity and obscurity, and take pride in presenting quality music, served with a fast-paced, high energy mixing style. Growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs, Carl would travel to 611 Records and buy vinyl to bring home and practice with. Soon enough, he was working for 611 under the guise of techno/rave luminary DJ and promoter Nigel Richards. Moving forward, Carl became store manager and house buyer for 611, soon helping launch Society Hill Recordings and managing the 611 Records label – overseeing mix compilation releases from heavy hitters like Derrick Carter, Dieselboy and Frankie carl-68Bones – eventually releasing his own commercially-released compilation, Disco Dub House. Carl’s travels have taken him to many cities, and the early 2000’s had him bouncing all over North America. Carl has held court at Philadelphia’s most prominent nightclubs. He opened the legendary Shampoo nightclub, and has held residencies at a wide-ranging mix of venues throughout the tri-state area. Today, he holds residencies at Voyeur Nightclub (formerly Pure, The 2-4 Club) along with Club Paradise in Asbury Park, NJ (owned by legendary producer Shep Pettibone), and Boxers Philadelphia. As he presses forward, Carl is focusing on music production and producing unique deep house events. [Podcast Tracklist] 01. Youssef – Beg (Hot Since 82 Future Mix) 02. Frankie Bones was the first DJ coming out of NYC during the mid 80’s with the vision of what was yet to be seen on the global front of Electronic Dance Music culture. His early mission came in the many releases of Fourth Floor Records and Nugroove Records. In a time when timing meant everything, the buzz of his early works caught the attention of the rapidly growing scenesters in the London Orbital M25 raves during the Summer Of Love in 1988. Those early “Bonesbreaks” vinyls led Frankie to playing at a rave called “Energy” which had 25,000 people. With the scene already reaching critical mass, Bones had set off a fierce bidding war between XL Recordings and Deconstruction, which led to two albums by Musto & Bones. The U.K. was very impressed by Frankie’s unique Brooklyn style which was a raw-freestylish-bass-in-your-bass-bins-but-electro-bass style that was raw enough to keep the entire scene and industry at bay, waiting for the underground to bubble over. With gigs, remixing and production work pouring in by the truckload, Frankie ventured out into the early European scene playing key breaking parties in France, Holland, Italy, Denmark and Germany. Each country taking note of his style and wanting to license music. From all the success in Europe, a booking would follow in Los Angeles based strictly on his success in Europe. In fact the L.A. promoters did not understand where the Brooklyn accent was coming from? But the West Coast scene had just started and Frankie held down Bi-Monthly events in London, L.A. and in NYC. His vision of STORMrave made history. As did the Sonic Groove shop where he sold vinyl to the masses. [Podcast Tracklist] 01. I Wanna Go Bang / Bjarki / Bonesbreaks Mastermix 02. P. S. 118 is a Philadelphia-based collaboration between two friends, Lucas Hough and Jansen Scott. The duo makes music that is a result of their experiences. Harsh environments tend to create rugged beings. But now and then they can construct polished products. Just as sandpaper can smooth out an unrefined stone, North Philadelphia’s rigid culture has spawned a duo whose sleek and fluid grooves are consistently contagious. Consisting of a once traveling blues pianist and touring hip-hop DJ, P.S. 118 aims to preach the gospel that we call house. Creativity, abstraction, and simplicity are at the core of their back-to-back dj sets that are heavily inspired by classic New York and Chicago sounds filtered through the lens of London and Berlin. Making things formal in 2013, the duo released their debut E.P. “Vol. 1” comprised of 5 original tracks in June of 2015 independently to local acclaim. With residencies: “Extra Credit”, “Suede”, and all-vinyl in-stores “P.S. 118 & Friends” the duo’s dance floor experience is tried and true. P.S. 118 seeks to push Philadelphia’s electronic scene, bridging the gap between old and new while opening minds along the way. [Podcast Tracklist] 01. MMT – Pangea Flute [Banoffee Pies Records] 02. Risky Disko is Philadelphia DJs Greg D and Crouse. Their journey began through a mutual friendship and love for classic disco and house music. Using these genres as a framework for their sets, they take inspiration from whatever groove suits the mood. Pulling from funk and disco, to classic house, balearic, no wave and psychedelic, this duo has taken the time to understand how the dance floor has changed over the years. Both strive for the new and different, no matter how classic or current the period is in which it originated. In 2013, Risky Disko earned a residency at The Dolphin Tavern where they currently host a monthly party, Try It Out. The party has included guest DJs such as Juan MacLean, Lovefingers, Rory Phillips, Sleazy Mcqueen, Joe Goddard, Joakim, Medlar, Moonboots, Eric Duncan and Holy Ghost!. In 2014, Risky Disko started a monthly party called The Wet Boogie, hosted at Ortlieb’s Bar. Their goal: to guide you on a journey through the decades…but be prepared…like all great journeys, there involves some element of RISK. [Podcast Tracklist] 01. Sleepy & Boo’s undying passion for underground music pervades everything they do. As DJs, this duo have become essential figures and pre-eminent players in the Big Apple’s dynamic music scene. They have left their mark on countless dance floors of all shapes and sizes, rocking rooms both big and small across New York City and beyond. Their sets are all about the groove, mixing together the best tracks from across the musical spectrum, hand-selecting the choicest cuts to create an unmatched vibe and atmosphere that takes the crowd to the limit. Whether supporting some of the world’s biggest DJs, or crafting their own headlining sets, Sleepy & Boo are known for their musical diversity and knack for picking the right tracks at the right moment. They are the resident DJs and driving force behind Basic NYC, their events and production organization, which features Sleepy & Boo playing alongside a who’s who of the world’s most important performing to a packed house of energetic music lovers. It’s an event recognized for its diversity, with partygoers treated to a huge range of talent and sounds (everyone from deep house veterans to the newest names in techno have been guests). Named as New York’s “Best Dance Party 2009” by New York Magazine, Basic NYC has become an international destination for clubbers eager to catch world-class DJs in top-notch spaces, taking place at some of New York’s finest venues. But it’s not just about out-of-town guests – for over two and a half years, Sleepy & Boo headlined their own monthly Sleepy & Boo + Friends residency at Cielo, which featured them playing extended headlining sets alongside friends and guests from New York. In 2014, this night was re-launched as ILLUSION, and takes place every month at Cielo. And in the Fall of 2012, Basic NYC staged a series of underground loft parties that featured an array of techno and tech-house DJs playing well into the morning, creating an infectious old-school warehouse vibe with top-notch production – crystal clear sound, visuals and decor. Their work has included residencies at clubs including Sullivan Room, District 36, Marquee New York, (le) Poisson Rouge and more. 2015 marks a new phase for Sleepy & Boo, who have now entered into the production arena with the release of their own original music. In March, they dropped their debut release, “The 17th Floor EP”, on New York’s esteemed Nervous Records, featuring three original tracks. That was followed up by “The Highway EP” on Nervous. In June, their “Priority Corridor EP” dropped on New York’s techno upstart De-Noize Records; the track “Vision Zero” from that EP was licensed to Stefano Noferini’s Deeperfect label. They went international in July with their “Shadow and Light” EP on Italy’s Lapsus Music (run by the Supernova duo), and in October their “7th Castle” EP dropped on Romania’s Quanticman Records. They also had a track included on a compilation by New York’s Nite Grooves label. Their productions reflect their DJing style: wide-ranging, dancefloor-driven tracks that cover emotions and energy from dark to light. Apart from their own events, the duo is consistently DJing at some of the best parties, venues and festivals around the world. They appeared at the beloved inaugural edition of Mysteryland USA, and helped launch the Escape Music Festival in New York City. They performed at the legendary Ultra Music Festival in 2015. They’ve played at three editions of the renowned Electric Zoo Festival; the first-ever Electric Daisy Carnival New York; the Dance.Here.Now. festival at Governor’s Island; DJed at some of LiveNations’ massive Roseland events; and have rocked dancefloors around the world in England, Germany, Canada, Japan and Spain (including sets at Ibiza’s legendary Space, Amnesia and Pacha clubs). “Mixes are time capsules of sound. Each capturing a moment in time that will not be repeated the same way. Each mix is meant to transport the listener in their own time machine to their own destination. These are soundtracks for daily living…” Darius is a self proclaimed “House Addict”. He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early ’90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio. He was hooked from then on. He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back. When he moved to Vancouver in the late ’90’s, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves. Today, Darius is happily married with a young son, but his love for house music hasn’t died. Darius was busy making a name for himself in the underground scene in 2015 with mixes released around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few. Someone Else is Philadelphia’s Sean O’Neal, co-founder of the record labels Foundsound, Little Helpers, Tuning Spork and Fuzzy Box. He comes from a musical family: His grandfather was a high school music teacher and also played bass with Bill Haley and the Comets, while his father was also in various rock bands throughout the ’50s and ’60s. In his early youth, Sean lived a cheeseball life performing in choirs and musical plays. He liked to sit with his dad and grandfather watching and listening to Spike Jones, a comical bandleader from the ’50s who’d often make music by hitting random objects in the room. In his teenage years, Sean was playing guitar and synths in indie rock bands, while being a huge fan of shoegaze and krautrock. Since ‘94, Sean has been the force behind ever-evolving, kitsch-driven electro-pop outfit Flowchart, releasing dozens of albums, singles and EPs on labels such as Darla, Morr Music, Carrot Top and his own Fuzzy Box imprint. In around ’98, O’Neal got hooked on IDM, techno and house, having already fallen in love with artists like The Orb, Plastikman, King Tubby and Matthew Herbert. He became intrigued by Herbert’s use of field recordings and found-sounds, which recalled a similar feeling to what he gained from the music of Spike Jones. As his love for minimal techno solidified, Sean teamed up with Jay Haze and Bjoern Hartmann, and together they launched the Tuning Spork label. While making dance music with field recordings became more and more his shtick, Sean grew close to Kate Iwanowicz (a.k.a. Miskate) and Sylvain Takerkart (a.k.a. Fusiphorm), and together they launched the foundsound and unfoundsound record labels. Both labels continue to gain increasing recognition while offering a unique facet to the modern-day minimal scene. Throughout the years, Sean also co-produced events in Philadelphia and New York, and spent a lot of time freelance writing for music magazines and newspapers such as xlr8r and Philadelphia City Paper. In recent years, Sean’s production skills have garnered respect among internationally renowned DJs and labels alike, reflected by his massive discography of releases and remixes for labels like Musik Krause, Tuning Spork, foundsound, Mo’s Ferry, Microcosm, Nummer, Kickboxer, Sender, Alphahouse, roman-photo, level non-zero, Mule Musiq, hello? repeat, Revolver and many others. This was accompanied by extensive tours, taking in Russia, Argentina, Europe, Canada, Japan and many American cities. O’Neal is also active in Philadephia’s deep house, minimal techno and experimental communities, co-organizing various events whose guests have included the likes of Magda, Matthew Dear, Sammy Dee, Geoff White, Jeff Milligan and Dan Bell. Influenced by attending many parties in the early 90’s LA Underground Scene, J jumped in to DJ’ing in 1991 and hasn’t stopped since. Been spinning a long time, 21 years, more than half my life. Have spun nearly every genre, have vacillated between taking this very seriously and not giving a fuck. It is more than a hobby, this is integrating an artistic conversation spanning the globe and it is my passion. This particular conversation we’ve been having in the Deep (house/tech/breaks) arena is particularly dope, and I’m excited to be a participant by spinning & producing that which moves my ass and soul, and raises my hands to the sky. Mixing is my zen-state. It isn’t an intentional act as much as it communion with sound, with the muse.I don’t plan Sets. My mantra is the ‘right song at the right time’, and you’re never going to answer that question until you’re in the moment. I kicked the vinyl habit in ‘05, but I still use CDJs.. You can hear the excitement in a live-mixed set, when there’s no net, when the DJ is a sneeze away from a trainwreck. I like a slippery beat or two, to flash your cards, to show this is real, this is Now, and we’re deep in it, together. I also only like to mix deep, 3 mins or so. It isn’t deep music unless you mix it deep, over your head in sounds, dancing with them as if Tai Chi, rolling them into another as if an Akido master. The tracks dictate how they want to be mixed, the moment dictates what energy wants to emerge next; a DJ isn’t there to be intentional, we’re supposed to be receptive. You can hear the difference. As one of the founding DJs / promoters behind Philadelphia’s legendary Special K and Circle parties (IT Parties, Yo-man), O’Keef played a vital role in pushing house music as the backbone of Philadelphia’s local rave scene throughout the 90s. During this time, he brought his unique blend of heady tech-house to Philly through numerous Philly-based residencies (Fluid, Palmer Social Club, and Transit) and hundreds of parties across the country. Feeling uninspired by the scene in the early 2000s, he took some much needed time away from the scene, but never from the music. O’Keef has re-emerged over the last few years, DJing very much under the radar at select parties (Ovum, Shakedown, Goodiem Drumsong and PEX) and has quietly regained the respect of many of his longtime peers and many of the newer DJs. In addition, Okeef he has begun producing with his long time collaborator Rob Paine under the guise of “Circle”, with 6 releases across Leftroom, Worship Recordings and Dubwise labels. After unknowningly and simultaneously dating the same supermodel for 3 years, Will Maggs & Andre Bruchez met at a private party in the top floor suite of a 53 story building in downtown Philadelphia. After discussing how much more upset they were with the evening’s soundtrack than that of their previous shared love, together they decided to put aside their differences and vowed to educate the public on what proper dance music should sound like. With Will’s background in improvisational jazz saxophone and Andre’s ability to reproduce animal sounds with synthesizers the duo began creating their own dancefloor symphonies and learned to mix music (or DJ) as a means of sharing their passion for euphoric groovy beats. Fast forward a few more years and the duo has refined their sound with a collection of releases on various international dance music labels. They’ve also launched their own label, emby, which is an outlet for their network of groove-music enthusiast friends. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. Moshun – Today 02. Cosmonaut Grechko – Luv 03. If the love of music could be measured by ones constant persistence, then Chris Udoh is a true testament to this persistence. Chris has been a DJ in one form or another for over 18 years. By most accounts, his experience is unparalleled. Chris started his professional journey in 1985 at the age of 16 in St. Louis, MO. where he played various clubs and had his music featured in several top fashion shows in and around the region. In 1989 Chris moved to Atlanta, GA. and started a 3 year residency at Atlantas legendary Lorettas nightclub. A few years later Chris met Chris Clark a.k.a. Deep C in a record store and the two quickly became friends. Each of them, along with producer Chris Brann, went on to form the Wamdue Kids. The trio had numerous club hits on such notable labels as Acacia, Studio K7!, Sounds, Guidance and of course, Strictly Rhythm. Chris moved to Philadelphia in the fall of 1996 to test new waters and found himself in very good company in the city of brotherly love. He quickly became one of the citys most respected DJs. In 2000 came the formation of Tigerhook Corp., a Wu-Tang type collection of like-minded DJs and producers that really boggles the mind. Spearheaded by the highly energetic Randal Jones, this crew of nine has releases on prestigious labels including The End, Oblong, Siesta LTR, Shaboom, Hooj Choons and even Bedrock. Chris Udoh has traveled the globe extensively. Most notably, he held a two-year residency at Fabric Nightclub in London from 2000 to 2002, playing at the club over a dozen times. Currently, Chris has taken time out to concentrate on solo productions as well as collaborations with other electronic dance music artists. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. I grew up around media and entertainment my whole life. My father, Frank “Knight” Leber was a Radio Anchor on KCBS. I would watch him splice reel to reel tape editing his weekly “News In Review” radio program. To me this was impressive. My mother had an eclectic collection of vinyl LP’s that I would dig through and enjoy. She always impressed upon me to pursue music in my teenage years, so a few good friends and I decided to record a song and submit it to KPOO, the number 1 underground Bay Area Hip hop show. We were featured as “The group to look out for” and were asked to produce a few more tunes to be put under consideration for “Volt Records”. Due to lack of funds, and no commitment by most of the members, the group split. My mom passed away in 1990, so I moved on my own at the age of 17. I received a small amount of money due to my mom’s passing, and purchased a Roland W-30. This workstation was my first step into music making. Hip Hop was my genre at that time and I work with some fantastic artists making beats. I soon purchased a 8 track reel to reel , a Tascam 16 channel Mixing board and some outboard synths. This may not seem like much, but being 19 with this kind of equipment, was a big deal. Next came the turntables, and the parties. I was pulled to work collage parties at Stanford, Cal State Hayward and Cal Berkeley. I loved playing to a crowed and decided that DJing is what I wanted to do. A good friend of mine told me about an opening at Bobby Mcgee’s. I interviewed and got my first full time DJ gig at the tender age of 21. Not a residency, this was a 40 hour a week dream job. I started working in the San Ramon Bobby Mcgee’s and was eventually pulled to work at the “Sacramento” location (Citrus Heights). This was a better match for me considering I loved working the microphone. Simply the coolest job ever! I then moved on to my other amazing job, “San Jose Live!”. The capacity of SJLive was over 2000 people. Four venues in one, and the largest sports bar in the bay area. I promoted Friday happy hour bringing in a good 1500 people on some days. I also played in the Main floor on Friday and DJed @ my favorite Venue, Flashbaxx on Thursdays and Saturdays where I subsequently met my wife. In the late 90’s I was exposed to house music. My wife and I would frequent a club called “Mercury” because we were friends with the owner. I got to meet many of the most revered Djs in the industry, and soon after, I was hit with the house music Production bug. I released my first Vinyl solo LP Under the name “Lance Mathew” in 1999 on Netamp Records. I started “Extreme Entertainment” in 2001 a mobile DJ company in San Jose, Djing special events incorporating audio production as a portion of the business. I produced short mixes for Body builders, Cheer leading squads, and video productions. In 2004 I wanted to release more music. I approached my good friend Dan Watts and we decided to pursue a new record label called “Bounce House Recordings” Our first vinyl release “The Choice” came out in Spring 2005 using the moniker “Short Bus Kids”. The lead track was produced by me, and Dan created the remix. Soon after EP #2 was released, in vinyl form and 2 months later Digitally. This 4 tracker that got more attention than the first. Bounce House Recordings took off from there. We remixed, produced, mixed down and mastered all of our own tracks. About the 25th release I left the label to Dan. Recently, running my own label, Roundi Music, I have been working with some of the best deep house music producers in the industry! Fortunately I have had the opportunity to do what I love for many years and plan on learning and growing to be better than I was yesterday. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. I’ve been involved in the electronic music industry for almost 20 years. Since 1992, I’ve played an active role in the forward progression of House Music. In my past, i’ve shown dedication in many roles; being a promoter, event co-ordinator and consultant, music journalist, dance web-magazine editor, hype sheet writer, music reviewer, Dj, producer, and currently, label owner. I’m originally from Northern California, and I absorbed the west coast vibe of House at its peak in the late 90’s. In the early part of 2002, I brought that vibe to Philadelphia. I was pleasantly invited to play at some of Philadelphia’s intimate and growing House and Downtempo nights. Later in 2006, I was graced with an internship with Philly’s Worship Recordings, and the crew shared all their blissful knowledge with me, which led me to start my own label, Selekta Recordings. Born in Aarhus, Denmark in November 1989, and living there for all his life: during the late teen-years Martin started feeling something was wrong with the music scene in his home town. Too many dj’s playing the same uninspired music made him pick up dj’ing around the year 2009. Quickly he started playing regularly, and has been doing so ever since. In 2012 beside dj’ing he took up producing, which has led to numerous bootlegs, edits, remixes and original tracks. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. They say if you can’t beat them, join them, and Marc Cotterell knew from the start that the golden era ‘90s house sound could not be beat. Holding its place as one of house music’s most beloved periods, Marc happened to fall in love with the deeper house stylings of that decade in 1993. He’s been climbing the ranks of the zeitgeist’s most valuable players ever since with his productions, Plastik People label, and Djing as leverage. When influential icons like Kerri Chandler are knocking at your door to personally say how much they love and play your releases, surely you’ve done something right. Having the hit-making New Jersey vocalist Tears Of Velva featured on “For Those We Love” certainly didn’t hurt. Plastik People’s exclusive relationship handling the releases of another heralded artist is Playin’ 4 The City only further solidifies the level Marc is operating at. Marc Cotterell’s productions have seen support from many other inspiring figures, regularly being charted by names like Jeremy “Underground Paris”, DJ Spen, DJ Fudge, Kiko Navarro, Rick Wade, Doc Martin, Fred P, Lars Behrenroth & Playin’ 4 The City. Those of his releases not reserved for his own imprint, have found homes with other respected labels: Soiree Records (Detroit,US), 124 Recordings (Wales,UK), Kolour Recordings (Detroit,US), Minuendo Recordings (Spain), and Gents & Dandy’s Recordings (Belgium) among others. His work consistently makes its way into the top ten sales charts on Juno and Traxsource in both vinyl and digital formats. Traxsource’s owner himself, Brian Tappert, regularly relies on Plastik People releases in his Traxsource LIVE! show rotation, as well as featuring Marc on his Defected in the House Radio Guest Mix. Cotterell’s own boundlessly energized and soulfully charged DJ sets have been showcased by Chicago’s 5 Mag and Deeper Shades of House in their mix series. His abilities behind the decks have seen him play & hold residences in Spain, Bulgaria, Canada, and all over both his home nations, the US and UK. Marc’s more notable gigs operate as a checklist of some of the most hallowed establishments and heralded festivals around like Sonar, Detroit Electronic Music Festival in Spain, Plastic People, The Egg, Fabric, and The End (London,UK). Through Plastik People Records, which he founded in 2012, Marc has gone to bat for other artists he believes in. Alongside Olivier Portal AKA Playin’ 4 The City who is exclusive to his label, he’s also signed the cherished talents of Kiko Navarro, Reelsoul, Jazz ‘N’ Groove & Louie Balo. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. The flow and the vibe, for the people, I spin to create an energy that allows a person to find themselves and to lose the sense of space and time. A creation for the simple pleasure of passion and meditation, the music transcends the ability to connect into a space that is not defined and needs not a definition. This music, this flow, these beats are for the person that allows the infinite to close down a space and has the patience to see what the music can offer. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. JFlexx has been Djing almost 20 years. Grew up in the Bay Area. Graduated high school right outside of Houston where he got his first taste of clubbing and and club music at legendary Xcess and 6400. Then moved to Alabama to go to school and started Bigg Muff Productions with his friend Matt Ray. They threw the first parties in Bama, bringing in J-luv, Hippe-B.Factor-E from the Atl to get it started right. Ending up throwing some nice parties over the next few years, Tommy Sunshine, Terry Mullan, Nigel Richards, Frankie Bones, and Bad boy Bill to name a few. Held residencies up and down Alabama, including the infamous 03 club, which was way ahead of its time. Moved back to Houston to hold residencies at Red Flag, The Men’s Club, and guest dj at S.O.M.E. He has been in Charlotte now for 10 years. Did a couple guest spots at Tonic , Scorpio’s,and a couple nice little parties in Hickory when I first came up. I have continued to Play parties in Birmigham for Harmony productions, spinning some of the biggest parties in the Southeast, including the massive Timebomb parties! Hailing from West Chester, just outside of Philadelphia – Paul McCabe was first introduced into the House scene from Philly DJ, Joey Crawford back in 1997 where they attended college together. This eventually led him to Philadelphia where almost every weekend you could find him in 611 Records or Cue Records digging for solid grooves. He would travel anywhere good music was being played, often New York to the famous “Body n Soul” party which expanded his horizons on song selection and filter techniques. Philadelphia was home though and it offered up a variety of great artists that inspired his music taste and set selection. Rich Medina, Sean Thomas, King Britt, DEL all played a major role in his style and you could often find him at Fluid behind the booth wanting to learn from the best. He has headlined under the moniker Paul Soul at Sundae Philadelphia, a weekly event landing the best talent the scene has to offer. His mixes reflect the choice of quality produced tracks that have a deep, disco vibe that is layered in soul. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. In Our Love – JT Donaldson 02. Renate’s favorite bad-boys, masters of pirate radio transmissions (Renate Podcast / Radio Renate), and lead cat herders for their Whiskey Tango Foxtrott nights. The offspring of a stowaway hidden aboard a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean during the early 80s, Daniel Frank Gizzie III was raised amongst a group of rowdy sea-dogs somewhere between Tahiti and Hong Kong. In 2010, his yearning for land-based adventure led him ashore where he encountered his partner, Jean-Daniel Tomor, working in an underground weapons market in the heart of Budapest. The two young lads became inseparable and through various escapades across the European continent they made a name for themselves as feared knife fighters and record jockeys, amongst other things. After landing in Berlin the following year, they quickly become aligned with a local resistance group which went by the name of Wilde Renate and began work as undercover operatives using the alias Samanta Fox in the electronic music scene. To this day, they are involved with the nightly operations at Wilde Renate Headquarters where they also host their monthly event, Whiskey Tango Foxtrott. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. jLove fell for house music in 1993 while living in Southern Africa, sneaking out to clubs in Harare and Johannesburg. Shortly thereafter, he moved to the Bay Area to live with his father and things further cemented while attending the historic full moon parties on the beaches of Santa Cruz. As a teenager in the San Francisco Bay Area – the music of deejays such as Jeno, Garth, dj Dan, Mark Farina and many others helped shape his early appreciation for the culture. Years later, after years of dabbling in a bit of deejaying, a touch of production and a lot of partying, he released his first vinyl in 2006. The 12 inch caught the attention of a few producers, among them Roy Davis Jr. who reported that he’d need a new copy, as he had apparently steadily played the record all over the globe until the grooves wore out. Taking the decision to become something of a nomad, he began to travel the globe, playing music at everything from dodgy loft parties in Canada to bars in Honolulu’s Chinatown, a spell in Croatia and a massive event on an Indian Ocean desert island. Now based in Europe, the adventure continues, with new music on the way, less party, more mixing – blending smooth vibes with upfront crowd rockers, looking for that perfect beat, hoping to put some hands in the air and get the girls shaking it out on the floor. For over twenty three years Melodious Funk has been doing his part to keep the house music scene in the Queen City of Charlotte alive and breathing. At a young age growing up in the clubs, he realized he had a love for dance music and the Dj’s that moved the dance floors. Taking in all styles of music he realized at the time that the Chicago House sounds coming from Chicago was the sound that spoke to him. With early influences of Mark Farina, and Gene Farris he started to craft a House Sound of his very own. Since that time he has held residencies at the following clubs over the years: 618, Liquid Lounge, LAVA, EDEN, TONIC, and currently he can be found at SOUL Gastrolounge as well as hosting MOVE & Bassment with his Partner JLazy on Fridays @ LABEL in the Ivory Lounge in the NC Music Factory. The two have been working overtime to make Bassment a proper night for House & Techno. Over the years Melodious Funk has opened for the International Talent such as Mark Farina, Gene Farris, Mark Grant, Colette, Jesse Saunders, King Britt, Joe Pompeo, DBOW, Doc Link, EMAN, Robbie Hardkiss, Corduroy Mavericks, Real Time Hand Motion, DJ Dan, Robb Swinga, and Golf Clap just to name a few. There is no one genre or style to classify the many achievements of Kevin Yost. Ever since picking up drumsticks at the age of four, Kevin has been obsessed with creating and performing music. DJ, producer, film composer, drummer…he has consistently thrived and evolved by indulging his passion. In the mid 80s, at the age of eleven, Kevin discovered his life’s mistresses: DJing and house music. He spent the next few years fostering his deep jazzy house style, and in 1998 he broke through with his first album, One Starry Night, which has the distinct honor of being considered a deep house classic. With close to 100 single releases, 8 albums and many mix cd’s over the years since, Kevin has earned his reputation as an artist who has no desire to stop creating music and pushing forward. Long before electronic music became popular and the word DJ became a household term, Kevin’s focus has been on the integrity of his music and spinning a rhythmic story during his performances. To say the music speaks through Kevin Yost is a veritable truth. His outputs of unreleased tracks are close to 1500. In a month’s time, he has been known to produce up to 30 tracks. For Kevin, DJing is a very personal thing he shares with the people that come hear him play and he is well known for playing an all-original music set. This makes his show unique and allows his fans to experience the deeper nuances of his music, which may never be released. Along with his personal approach to DJing, Kevin has put together a new live show called “Live & Improvised.” Kevin describes this as his “studio on the stage”, and, as the name suggests, all of the music is created on the spot. Each gig is completely different, as he tailors his music live to take the crowd on a journey. For Kevin, the show is very special because it allows the audience to experience the music at the moment of its creation. The audience is invited into the private world of Kevin Yost, and given an experience that he has spent his life captivated with, that sacred moment when inspiration manifests into a tangible reality and music is breathed to life. As personal and creative Kevin’s DJ sets can be, his “Live & Improvised” shows are spellbinding to watch as the audible vision flows from him into music and then into the hearts of the crowd. Max has made some big noise on the East Coast scene with a string of steady-rocking remixes and originals for Maya Records, Aztec Tribalism, Selecta Recordings and others. The repertoire is quickly growing for this rising star, whose sound people can’t seem to get enough of. Drawing inspiration from a rich musical background of hiphop, freestyle, house and funk, Max’s releases are instant classics underscored by moody keys, floor-stomping beats and dubbed-out soul, evoking the spirit of New York’s deeply rooted dance culture. Though he currently calls Pennsylvania home, Max’s native Brooklyn roots are evident in his production style and flexibility. When he’s not cranking out some of the sickest beats this side of the Atlantic, Max can be found tearing up dancefloors throughout the Tri-State area within a growing sphere of influence as more people discover his amazing talent. Billa’s been a musician from his earliest years attending The Philadelphia School of Performing Arts as a child. Terry “Tee” Alford, event promoter, remixer, and producer has been spinning music for over 30 years. He became interested in embellishing music in the seventies and eighties while listening to some of New York’s radio mixers like Shep Pettibone, Timmy Regisford, Danny Krivit, Tony Humphries & hosts like Frankie Crocker. By the time Tee arrived as a Temple University freshman in 1984, he had already developed a good ear for rhythm & music. Quickly seeing the need to diversify and expand the small soul music dance community in Philadelphia, he injected his own soul influences into the local college scene along with friend & fellow engineer, James Turner. Although Tee’s sound was not well received at first, Philly & the surrounding region would soon take notice of the enthusiasm at the well attended dance concerts he co-produced both on and off campus. His artist showcases from 1985-1988 began to influence the party culture by impacting clothing fashion, street art, retail music sales, and even urban radio. Major festival productions during Philadelphia’s annual public events like the Pan-Hellenic Greek Summer Picnic in Fairmount Park and Pennsylvania Relays (1986-1992), provided a larger platform to showcase his event planning & DJ talents. In 1988, Tee auditioned for the late, Eric Coston, to join the lineup on Philly’s first “House music” urban radio mix show on WDAS-FM. That very same year, he began his first solo club residency on Sunday nights at Club Impulse with station mate, Kenny Ebo and the rest is history. Tee has since built his own name with major radio station residences and appearances at Philly’s legendary clubs & dance parties such as Sundae, Don’t Fake the Funk, Shampoo, NYC’s Cielo & Club Shelter, Eighteenth Street Lounge in Wash, DC, plus tour dates throughout Europe & Canada. Having been long considered a legendary pioneer for popularizing the soulful house music dance format in Philadelphia, Tee’s vision undoubtedly paved the way for a new generation of dance music producers, DJs & Promoters in the city. Several recognizable Philly & international music taste makers, were once avid regulars at Tee’s early soul music performances in the 80s & 90s. His noteworthy music/remix productions & distributed releases under the Funky People Records® label, Joint Ventures Group & the legendary Blaze Productions can still be heard on playlists to this day. Balancing the challenges of a professional technology career, multiple business endeavors, and family, things have come full circle for the Funky People®, LLC brand in recent years. In January 2016, the weekly mix show, Funky People Radio® LIVE, heard on WURD-AM 900 radio in Philadelphia, turns 3 years old. The FP media presence has grown by leaps and bounds with the radio show’s continued popularity. There’s certainly no intentions to slow down now after the latest remix of Temika Moore’s “Every Word”, just released on Josh Milan’s Honeycomb Music imprint. Expect to hear more of Tee’s soul music sounds on the airwaves, see more creative lifestyle and entertainment activities for the Funky People® massive along with new studio projects to be released on the music label in 2016! Deep Space Love From The Outer Reaches Of The Universe! Zen Master. DJ. Dad. Shoegazer. Music Maker. Dreamer of Dreams. Poker Player. Wamdue Kid, Tigerhook Jedi. I kept it short and sweet because if you really want to know, spend some time with me and you’ll find out. 1st off, I’m too busy/lazy to post my dj schedule day after day, week after week. That’s what event pages and feeds are for. I’m Minneapolis born, raised in Detroit, seasoned in Atlanta, and currently rockin Philly! Started collecting music in 1979 at the tender age of 7 years old. Luckily, the radio stations in Detroit were truly ahead of its time and I was exposed to all kinds of good music thanks to the Electrifying Mojo. A member of the prestigious Balance Record Pool which was one of the world’s best. Started dj’ing in 1990 after graduating high school and in 1993, hooked up with Chris Udoh and Chris Brann in Atlanta and formed the Wamdue Kids. After 8 years of making music and touring the world djing, Wamdue split up. Chris Udoh and I continued on with a new crew of heads called Tigerhook. The crew consisted of Udoh, Randall Jones, Hito, Hollis P. Monroe, Pat Parker, Phil Charles, Mark Pappas, Rodrigo Ramirez and I. We were based out of Philly and held down several weekly & monthly residencies. Now I’m producing music again and back the saddle. Was throwing events & shows as ROC but separated recently as a partner and now throwing events as Adults At Play as well as hosting a parties as Dirty Dirty Beats. As a dj, I held down residencies at various prestigious places like Fabric (UK), Smart Bar (Chicago), KGB-Mission (Miami), Nomenclature (Atl), Viper Room (L.A.), and Tresor (Berlin). In Philly, I had one of the longest running House Parties ever (7 years) at Soma that hosted local and international guests and pushed the music in all genres. I also worked at Satellite Records in NYC while commuting from Philly and doing it all. I’m an avid book reader, avid music listener, and avid mind thinker…was a Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker Preferred in Old City, yoga practitioner and striver of all things good [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. Just a guy doing what I can to promote underground house sounds. I have always been a house-head and I used to spend many weekends watching house djs working at such classic Chicago clubs as Shelter, Red Dog, Medusa’s, Crobar, Neo’s and Smart Bar. I learned how to work the decks after a chance meeting with Chicago DJ Thelonious Funk turned into an offer of free lessons. I soon decided to spend months of highly focused listening to the most classic 70′s/80′s Disco tracks and 80′s House tracks so that I could gain a substantial understanding of the basic elements of House Music: The various samples, instruments, vocals, arrangements, sound efx, drum patterns, keys and drum machines. I began to hear the music in a different way… being able to hear those classic elements used, referenced, echoed, sampled and/or simply hinted at in 90′s House right up to the most modern releases has allowed me to sink into a deeper & more meaningful connection with House Music. That summer I landed my first real gig at Victor Hotel and I have spun at various Chicago clubs, parties and event ever since. Former guitarist in various Chicago rock bands (Bodhisattva, Octopussy), former owner of Chicago underground rock label Urban Legends Records (The Wesley Willis Fiasco, Trailer Hitch, etc.), previously a writer for various underground punk/rock/alternative music ‘zines. Lars Behrenroth – born in Germany, relocated to Los Angeles in 2004 – DJ since 1986, radio host since 1996, remixer & producer since 1997, and label owner since 2008. From his early days DJing at a local dance school in Germany to headlining a 25,000 people music festival in South Africa 30 years later, Lars Behrenroth has been moving dance floors all over the world. He’s played at world renowned clubs like DEEP (LA), Distillery (Leipzig, Germany), Motor City Lounge (Detroit), Stereo (Montreal, Canada), Queens (Paris, France) and in the recent years enjoys a massively growing fan base in South Africa. During several tours Lars continues to headline events all over the country alongside Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Osunlade, Rocco, Ralf Gum, Nick Holder and many more .. While in Hamburg, Germany Lars attended audio engineering school where he completed his first remix projects in 1996. That very same year, Lars began co-hosting “House Sound of Hamburg” (HSH) on a local radio station which marks the beginning of his impressive radio career. In 1998 he successfully brought the exclusive mix show to Evosonic Radio, a Europe-wide electronic and dance music radio station. The weekly three-hour show was very successful and hosted guest DJs such as Mateo & Matos, Paul Johnson, and DJ Pierre to name a few. During this time he also signed with Hamburg labels “Records Of Interest” (ROI) and “Tracks Of Interest” (TOI) to join the ranks of Knee Deep, Vincenzo, and Lovebirds. Lars Behrenroth In 2016 Lars Behrenroth’s highly acclaimed and respected weekly two hour radio show, “Deeper Shades of House” is celebrating its 14 year anniversary. The program started out on German radio station Jam FM and was shortly after syndicated on US nationwide satellite XM Radio and can now be heard on over 30 stations worldwide and is featured on iTunes as an essential music podcast, reaching a total of over 8 million listeners each month. DSOH is a weekly showcase of Lars’ versatile but very selective musical range and evidence that the way he programs his sets and puts the songs together make him stand apart from the rest. The show also features guest mixes by international DJs and was nominated as Best Podcast in the 2011 and 2013 IDMA in Miami. Lars has developed his production skills over the past 19 years to the point where he has accumulated an impressive discography over a variety of labels including Freerange, Compost, Sonar Kollektiv, Liebe*Detail etc. He has remixed artists such as Atjazz, Robert Owens, Liquideep, Dubtribe Sound System, MJ Cole, Arnold Jarvis, The Rurals, Beyonce, Sven Weisemann, Tamara Wellons, Rocco, Black Coffee, among others. The next logical step on the way to creating a global Deep House brand was founding in-house record label Deeper Shades Recordings in 2008. The label is now home to 56 digital releases featuring many new and upcoming artists as well as established names in the Deep House industry. [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. “You look like this mad scientist up there mixing records, like some crazy chemist.” – JJ Brown Clayton the Chemist is a DJ and Producer who masters a wealth of different musical genres, to present a soulful experience on the dance floor, and off of it. He is 1/2 of the pioneering fusers of Funk, Soul, Jazz, and Electronic Music, the group Clayton & Fulcrum, His solo vibes range from House, Bass, DnB, and of course, all that’s funky. His live sets encompass this diversity of vibes and tempos. He plays, and Dubs out, the elements of original songs in an improvisational way that is different with every set and crowd. With technology, he is able to have a complete Dub mixing desk and studio wherever he goes. Here’s a review of a recent live set upstairs at the legendary Philly House party, The Shakedown. “As Ras’ set came to a close, Clayton the Chemist took over the controls a bit after 12:00 am. Clayton’s sound was infused with funk and soul and had many quickly moving from the bar to the dance floor. Some even made their way on the top of tables to dance, as sun drenched grooves began to rain down.” John Tordini for EDMPENN Here’s a quote from the man himself about his sound: “When you hear the first notes of Stevie Wonder’s voice, you instantly feel what he’s singing about. The range of my sets, and musical library, will be broad, but the thing that ties everything together, the essential element, is that you will feel the emotion the song is conveying.” Clayton the Chemist (Natural Selection, [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01. If actions speak louder than words, Willyum (real name Will Putney) has been screaming at the underground house music community for over two decades now. One of Philly’s favorite house DJs since he jumped on the scene the early 90’s, Will is eternally affiliated with helping to strengthen local house music institutions like 611 Records, Worship Recordings, The Shakedown, and PhillySoulCollective. No stranger to the online radio format, Will currently hosts SoulGlow Radio, every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 6-10pm Eastern time on Willyum’s production credits are numerous – early on a ton of mixtapes/CDs were beaten to a pulp in revelers’ stereos, and more recently he’s had original tracks and remixes released on the Worship, Selekta, Clean and Dirty and Warmth labels. Additionally, he mixed WOR.CD.02, a mixed CD of Worship’s 11th through 20th releases. Will had a hand in all of these releases from start to finish during his time as label manager– A&R, manufacturing, distribution, and of course the mixing of the CD itself. A vibrant selector and warm individual, the years have seen Willyum’s indelible glow mirrored upon the countless people, parties, and productions he’s graced with his tactful and soulful style. Longevity is something that eludes many in this game, but Willyum has found a way to keep his name and events relevant for 20+ years now [PODCAST TRACKLIST] 01.
