I’ve served as an admin or power-user for many of these systems and find that learning new systems comes quite naturally to me. I am passionate about testing new technology to simplify and increase output of my team, and love being able to pilot new technology, techniques or processes. I find joy in learning from my peers. LINKEDIN: -- Company:  Until recently, a recruiting director, now.... I am a Business Consultant for A-Lex International. Helping Japanese companies establish in the United States. I lived in Japan for five years teaching English at a Junior High School and spending the vast majority of my free time inside various martial art Dojos. I have a licences and ranks in several martial arts. I picked up Japanese while I was there. I grew up on a farm and still help out when I can, there is value in dirty jobs a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. I am interested in manufacturing design, process improvement, production systems, Kaizen, and quality control. I research new technologies and new methods of production and automation to see if we can take these concepts and apply them in recruiting and office management. I am highly interested in philosophy and how they apply in the business world and how capitalization of ideas occur.

Amy Miller (@AlaRecruiter) said in the comments that she would come on to argue with the guest. I picked up on that and began to bill the show as an opportunity to be evaluated as a recruiter by the great Amy Miller. So Amy Poirier volunteered even though she had recently been a guest and Amy Miller just said that she can only stay for half an hour.

I just really enjoy working and helping people. There was no way I could go into a health field like nursing though; I would bring all the patients home with me. So I was called into the HR world and eventually migrated to recruiting.  I have recruited across the board; administrative, light industrial, IT, healthcare, etc. I have worked with large companies, small, one man shows and non-profits. Many interesting positions and people in the world. I remember one of my first interviews. I was more nervous than the candidate! I was sweating and talking too fast...it...was...HORRIBLE! Thankfully I have learned to become a listener and have worked on curbing the sweating...mostly. However I find Tom to be a very articulate speaker who produces many well-written and compelling articles on FastCompany, Harvard Business Review and a number of other sites so I, personally, want to hear more of what he has to say.

Do you just spam the same email blast out to everyone? No, you want to know something about those people so you can hit the most likely candidates first.  So Candidate ID sends info to these people on an  ongoing basis and it grades their responses to your content. Then, when you want to hire a sales rep you call the ones with the highest scores.

@AndrewGadomski - LINKEDIN - Aspen Advisors I started Aspen in 2006 because I thought too many recruiting departments were 1. wasting time and money on tools they didn't understand,  2. using training that was taught once and forgotten, and 3. engaging vendors who could not prove their service value.  There did not seem to be a company that large organizations could turn to in order to drive waste out and improvement in - whether at high volumes or for specialization. I thought why not toss up a shingle... I set out to build a firm that used real evidence and proof to for decision making rather than hot bloated consultant speak. My desire was to work with leaders who would check ego and improve recruiting without excuses. Needless to say I was broke for a while. Ego checking is not exactly a LinkedIn registered skill.

The guest was a no-show. Claimed afterward that he was in a big meeting and closed a deal so he missed the "dial-in". And it must have been a long meeting because I had been asking him for two days to confirm without a reply. But, as Billy Shakespeare,said, alls well that ends well and it did end well. We had a lot of good people on the call and we had an interesting chat about granular recruiting issues. @mike1178 -- LINKEDIN -- FREE e-BOOK -- ARTICLES:  Sourcing Manager, North America Lead the development and creation of a sourcing center Attaining more than 100K prospects divided into candidate talent pools based on current company and skill set from all major competitors. Was then able to monitor the 100K plus contacts for job seeking behavior. Recruiters were able to tell, based on our scoring, who was most likely to respond to attempts to recruit them. Reduced time to fill, and driving down cost per hire.  •Increased candidate response rate from 20% to 80% applying new tools, tactics, and techniques.  •Conducted training for over 100 recruiters on topics that included sourcing, interviewing, and closing offers.  •Created a Hiring Manager interview training program. Prior deployments of this system dropped interview to offer ratios from 1 in 8 to 1 in 3.  •Lead teams ranging in size from 5 to 14. I measure my success as a manager on how many of my sourcers were offered opportunities after they worked for me. Seven of the sourcers that worked for me were offered other roles inside of the company. •Collaborated with Marketing in the creation of the Employer branding program. •Developed a sourcing strategy template for clients in diverse industries.
