This is Coronavirus 4-1-1, the latest Coronavirus info.  Just the facts for Thursday March 12th, 2020. The World Health Organization has officially declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic, which means “the worldwide spread of a new disease”.  NBC News reports that the attending physician of Congress and the Supreme Court, told senate staff that he expects 70 million to 150 million in the U.S. will contract the virus.  Of those, 80% will be fine.  President Trump announced that all travel from Europe to the U.S. will be suspended for 30 days.  The European Commission condemned the move, noting ““The coronavirus is a global crisis, not limited to any continent and it requires cooperation rather than unilateral action”.  The restrictions impact 26 countries and “did not appear to be tied to the severity of outbreaks in individual countries”, reports the New York Times.

The NBA has suspended the season after a player for the Utah Jazz tested positive, the NCAA will close all tournament basketball games to fans.  Actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have tested positive for the virus while traveling in Australia.  Six more states report their first cases, bringing the total number in the U.S. to 1,323 in 44 states and the District of Columbia.  There have been 38 deaths, the majority in Washington State.  Global case total, 127,749.

There have been 1323 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in 44 states and the District of Columbia.Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Dakota and Wyoming all report their first cases.  Known active locations, with 10 or more cases, are as follows: Washington 335, New York 216, California 201, Massachusetts 95,  Texas and Colorado 33, Georgia 31, Florida 26, Illinois 25, Nebraska and New Jersey 23, Oregon 20, Pennsylvania 16, Iowa 14, Maryland and Louisiana 13, Indiana 11, District of Columbia and South Carolina 10.
