The shooting at MSU has sparked another heated political battle. Democrats are calling for more gun laws and Republicans are saying that the ones on the books need to be enforced. Within Ottawa County we have two hecklers of elected officials that are doing their best to get those officials fired from their jobs. Joseph F Spaulding of Holland and Walter "Mac" Davis are doing everything they can to harass the new commissioners and are even extending their reach to precinct delegates. The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners have fulfilled many of their campaign promises within the first day of taking office. They have been called everything from fascists to untransparent to unlawful. We'll look at what they did and how legal it is. Many parents have started attending their school board meetings upon learning that they had almost no control over their child's learning and that some teachers are using their platform to teach harmful ideologies to children. Some parents are motivated enough to run for the school board themselves. I spoke to Tommy Vanhill and Thomas Hoekstra this week and we will see what they have to say.
