It’s fantastic that BMW Motorrad’s top management likes to join customer events like the Int. GS Trophy and ride with all the participants. While we were in New Zealand in February, we caught up with new head of BMW Motorrad development Christof Lischka, who rode the entire Trophy with BMW Motorrad boss Markus Schramm, head of design Edgar Heinrich, and head of marketing and product management Ralf Rodepeter. As well as being a top rider (motocross, enduro and rally) Christof is really looking forward to building on BMW Motorrad’s successful product development of recent years, so gave us some really interesting insights into life behind the scenes in future vehicle development. Enjoy the listen! We sincerely hope you enjoy this podcast. Make sure you don’t miss another one by clicking the ‘subscribe’ button now. Join us behind closed doors in the south of France at the Autodrome de Miramas – BMW’s proving ground – where the bikes and cars we’re going to be riding and driving in the future are put through intensive test cycles. Around 180 BMW bikes are taken to the limits here every year – on test benches and on a variety of specially-built roads, racetracks and handling circuits, with a staggering 3 million kilometres covered in total. We speak to the experts, who are literally living their lives in the future, about the work going on behind the scenes to bring us products and innovations that not only increase our riding pleasure, but our safety too. This podcast also includes a deep dive into the all-new R 18 engine, as well as a sneak preview of some very special rider equipment heading our way… All this, and more in episode 10 of Ride and Talk. How did we get to episode nine of Ride and Talk so quickly? It’s because there are so many great stories out there – and super-interesting people for us to talk to. Here’s one we’ve actually been sitting on for a while because we knew there was a second part coming that we just had to include. It’s an in-depth chat with fans’ favourite Mattie Griffin, the freestyle streetbike rider who continues to amaze us with his tricks on his modified BMW F 800 R, even after all these years. But now there’s a new ‘kid’ in town – the F 900 R – so we needed to find out exactly what Mattie thinks of the stunt potential of the 2020 Roadster. He’s a modest bloke who usually lets his riding do the talking but it’s about time we all heard his voice. Thanks @mattie_griffin32, it was well worth the wait! All this, and more in episode nine of Ride and Talk. We sincerely hope you enjoy this podcast. Make sure you don’t miss another one by clicking the ‘subscribe’ button now. Welcome to episode eight of the Ride and Talk podcast – or should we say “podCARst” because this episode was actually recorded inside a BMW 2 Series car directly outside the EICMA motorcycle exhibition in Italy! We sat down for a quiet chat with new BMW Motorrad factory WSBK rider Eugene Laverty, who spoke with real depth and clarity about his career, family, fellow racers, and a love of podcasting by the way  We sincerely hope you enjoy this podcast. We bring this latest podcast episode to you direct from the famous international motorcycle exhibition in Milan, where BMW Motorrad unveiled three outstanding new models in the Roadster and Adventure Sports segments. We go for a ‘deep dive’ into the story behind these all-new F 900 R, F 900 XR and S 1000 XR world premieres. And if that wasn’t enough, show-goers were treated to some first impressions of the new Concept R 18 /2 – an amazing second custom interpretation from the team that brought us the original big boxer cruiser design study. Who better to talk to than the guy who dreamed it up and then brought it to life? All this, and more in episode seven of Ride and Talk. We sincerely hope you enjoy this podcast. Wow! What an Int. GS Trophy Female Team Qualifier we’ve just experienced in Spain. 31 women adventure riders representing 20 countries all over the world competing for one of just six places at the international finals in New Zealand. But it was about so much more than that. For sure, there were winners and losers – that’s the nature of competition – but this was a story about the camaraderie and friendships that were formed, and the memories that will last a lifetime for those who took part. We also wanted to learn more about these talented GS girls, where they ride and what adventure motorcycling is like for them back home, wherever that is. We sincerely hope you enjoy this episode. Welcome back again, it’s great to have you here! What’s happening this time? Well, the Int. GS Trophy is drawing ever closer, so first up, I’ll be talking with a couple of characters who are well known in the GS ‘family’. It’s Shawn Thomas and Jocelin Snow, who recently heard the great news that they had been confirmed as the new GS Trophy ‘presenters’ of the daily film highlights. I spoke with them soon after they’d heard the good news and their delight is wonderfully evident! After that, we go ‘back in time’ with BMW Motorrad historian Fred Jakobs, who tells us what the world was like 50 years ago when BMW launched the original /5 models – and how he’s got his eye on the all-new R nineT /5 special anniversary bike that pays homage to this iconic model series and has recently arrived in dealers. Here we go again. Welcome back if you’ve listened before, and if it’s your first time, it’s great to have you here! What’s happening in this episode? Well, a few days ago the Int. GS Trophy 2020 bike was unveiled live on Facebook and Instagram. This special model is fresh off a dedicated assembly line in Berlin and will be the same bike that all the participants will use at the international finals over in New Zealand at the Int. GS Trophy 2020. I speak to BMW Motorrad head of product management, Christian Pingitzer, about this equipment-laden F 850 GS special edition and discuss all the special parts it is fitted with. After that, I have a quick chat with Tommy Kerns, who you will no doubt have seen in A Bavarian Soul Story – BMW Motorrad’s cool film series about the roots of the Concept R 18 and the journey to series production of the Big Boxer cruiser. Welcome back and thanks for joining us again. Have we got something special for you this time? Oh yes! Sit back and be inspired by this exclusive interview with Smiths Racing BMW rider Peter Hickman, who has had an amazing year of success on the roads. At the time of writing these notes, he’s already enjoyed three wins and two podiums at the Isle of Man TT, victory at the North West 200, and a ‘magnificent’ 7 out of 7 at the Ulster Grand Prix – as well as claiming the outright lap record. He’s officially the ‘fastest road racer in the world’ and tells us all about his incredible year on the RR so far – with the Macau Grand Prix and British Superbike Championship showdown still to come! A big shout out to www.greenlight.tv for letting us share some of the amazing race commentary from the UGP and to ‘Hicky’ (follow him @hickyracer60) for slowing down just enough to allow us to catch up with you for this podcast.
