Christian is a former professional athlete turned confidence & mindset coach and motivational speaker. When his career in sports came to an end, so did his identity and purpose. He didn't know who he was nor what else he could offer to the world. After years of struggling to become a working actor and rigorously training and applying to become a fighter--both of which ended in failure--he finally found his calling and something that made him want to get out of bed every day: helping other men battle through the same struggles he has battled. Christian is on a mission to put the outdated and often damaging cultural expectations of masculinity under a microscope in order to help men feel that it's okay to be exactly who they are, even if it doesn't fulfill all the manly expectations. He shares his story and his fears, failures and insecurities openly in the hopes that he will inspire other men to do the same. Dr. Velez's husband, Damien, comes on to share his experience on a 10-day silent meditation retreat. Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. He shares the depths of the lessons he uncovered, how challenging it was to quiet the mind, what he was forced to face, and how he's been able to apply these lessons to his daily life.    "Even the most challenging of moments, pass."   "Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind. It is this observation-based, self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body that dissolves mental impurity, resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion." - https://www.dhamma.org/en-US/index   If you enjoyed this episode, please consider leaving an honest rating and review.
