Sometimes a Trashy Divorce story is just a gateway to something much more delightfully awful! This week, Stacie has the trashy marriage and divorce (and on and on) of actress and model Pamela Anderson and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. But also: there’s a heist, some yak fur, a sex tape, and biker gangs terrorizing the porn industry! Seriously, this one goes places. Then, Alicia has the four loves and losses of Lisa Marie Presley. After a quickie divorce from her first marriage so she could wed Michael Jackson, and then a quickie marriage to Nicolas Cage, her first ex-husband is still one of her closest friends, and even played best man in her fourth wedding. This week, we get up close and personal with Henry VIII’s sister, and deep dive into a very trashy listener request! Alicia has the three marriages of Margaret Tudor: daughter of Henry VII, one-time Queen of Scotland, legitimate Catholic divorcee, and mother of Scotland’s James V. Margaret’s story scandalized Christendom, at least until her brother lost his freaking mind. Speaking of dudes losing their minds, Stacie has the very not-funny story of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. Their brief marriage ended in 2016 in a flurry of monstrous abuse allegations against Johnny Depp, and their continuing legal feud has only made the story uglier. Honestly, we’re a little worried about everyone in this story. Promo this week: BetterHelp.com Need some extra distraction? This week, we’re putting a philandering British Prime Minister and a scion of Hollywood royalty under the Trashy Divorces microscope. Stacie has all the deets on Boris Johnson, a man who won’t say how many children he’s fathered, but has certainly mastered the art of failing upwards. Then, Alicia takes us back to the Golden Age of Hollywood for the first marriage and divorce of diva and screen legend Joan Crawford, to Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Need some extra distraction? This week, we’re taking a look at a couple of American originals. Tennis legend Billie Jean King married her best friend Larry when they were a couple of lovestruck kids bonding over a tennis net. Alicia has the decidedly not trashy story of how Billie Jean came to terms with her sexuality, and how Larry supported her every step of the way. Though divorced, the pair remain permanent friends. Then Stacie hops on the Trashy Divorces time machine to take us back to the 19th century with the bonzo story of Victoria Woodhull, America’s first female presidential candidate. Was she the most successful con artist of her day, or a medium and social reformer driven by her strong ideals? Honestly, we don’t have any idea. Related: Here’s the Henry Ward Beecher story on Patreon that first got Stacie onto Victoria Woodhull. Promo this week: BetterHelp.com Need some extra distraction? As the musical Cabaret says, “What good is sitting alone in your room? Come to the Cabaret!” This week, we have the stories of two people inhabiting a role: Luann de Lesseps, the Countess of Real Housewives of New York, and legendary actor and all around dapper fella Cary Grant. Stacie has the trashy Housewives tale of a young American who married into, and then divorced out of, European nobility, while Alicia spills some tea about Archibald Leach, who left England to reinvent himself in New York, and then conquered Hollywood as Cary Grant. It’s listener request time! This week, Stacie covers filmmaker James Cameron, who spent much of his adult life engaging in something like serial monogamy and abusing the heck out of his subordinates. When he wasn’t making actors pee in wetsuits, he was marrying and divorcing in quick succession, most notably to Terminator actress Linda Hamilton. Then, Alicia puts some realism into the man, the myth, the legend, John Lennon. Turns out that the voice of a generation was pretty awful in his first marital go-round. Need some extra distraction? This week, we take a look at two pretty singular individuals who might have been better off staying single. First up, Alicia has the shockingly trashy story of American architectural master Frank Lloyd Wright. This one really has everything: tons of dirtbag behavior, horrific true crime, and another one of those “great men” whose personal lives are garbage. In a similar vein, Stacie remembers the 2009 cheating scandal that temporarily swamped golf legend-in-his-own-time Tiger Woods. No, he wasn’t cheating at golf. He was cheating on his wife, with basically every woman he’d ever met. Once the news broke, wife Elin Nordegren may or may not have taken out her rage with a golf club to their Cadillac Escalade. We’re off this week, but wanted to check in with thanks, trashcandy, and some ideas that might help you disconnect from all the anxiety. Check out our catalog of Patreon stories pulled from the paywall, for your listening enjoyment: bit.ly/trashcandyquarantine Stacie recommends Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague, by Geraldine Brooks. It’s based on the true story of an English village that, back in 1666, way before anyone understood viruses, self-quarantined after plague broke out in the community. Fair warning, this is not light reading, so use your judgment. Alicia, much more wisely, recommends Unlocking Us, the new podcast by OG shero Brene Brown. This is probably a more soothing option than Stacie’s weird book recommendation. Then, we drop a few hints about Season 6, which begins next Sunday, April 5. Thanks so much for being part of the Trashy Divorces community. Stay safe, keep it trashy, and we’ll talk next week!

Welcome to the end of Season 5 and another host’s choice edition of Trashy Divorces! Then Alicia has the story of Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner. They divorced, but found a way to put it all back together again – at least until Natalie’s untimely death at the age of 43. It’s all Judy Garland, all the time! This week, Stacie kicks us off with the mysterious and incredibly brief marriage between actress Renee Zellweger (who just won Best Actress for Judy) and country star Kenny Chesney. They tied the knot after knowing each other just five months, and when Renee filed to annul the marriage for “fraud” four months later, the media turned an ugly eye to Kenny. Then, Alicia has the heartbreaking story of Trashy Divorces All-Star Judy Garland, whose five marriages and four divorces were probably a predictable outcome of the horrifying ways she was mistreated as a child. The Mia Farrow-Frank Sinatra marriage and divorce is a story with surprising right-now resonance. Alicia shares the tale of how a very young Mia Farrow met and fell in love with Frank, who was expecting a very different kind of wife than he got. There’s also a cat. Then, Stacie brings us the story of another Trashy Divorces All-Star, Larry King, whose seven wives, eight marriages, and, now, eight divorces make him a real contender for some kind of themed prize we’re planning on inventing at some point. You can’t talk Sinatra without eventually talking about some Kennedy trash, so in week four of Ocean's Eleven: 12 Degrees of Frank Sinatra, Alicia brings us the first ever Kennedy divorce. Patricia Kennedy Lawford, sister to JFK, RFK, and Ted, married Hollywood heartthrob Peter Lawford and probably expected he'd settle down. He did not, and after years of putting up with his addictions and affairs, she divorced him in 1966. Then, Stacie has Kennedy Divorces: The Next Generation, with the extremely trashy behavior of bodybuilder, actor, and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, before and during his 25-year-long marriage to Maria Shriver, niece of JFK, RFK, Ted, and Patricia. For our second dive into the Ocean's Eleven: 12 Degrees of Frank Sinatra season, Stacie has the Rat Pack-adjacent comedian and original King of Late Night, Johnny Carson. He was a private person who was possibly America's most beloved and public figure for three decades. His three divorces – and final, apparently happy marriage, reveal the split-screen that was his life. Then, Alicia has the tragic early years of Ava Gardner: her rural North Carolina upbringing, her discovery by the MGM star machine, and her first marriages, to Mickey Rooney and Artie Shaw. Alicia got some sad news this week, so we’re hopping into our time machine and heading back to merry olde England, circa 1560, to take a look at the original Staircase Murder. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Bess held the affection of many men, but pony boy Robert Dudley found his feelings reciprocated. Until his wife Amy Robsart was found dead at the foot of a staircase, that is. An innocent accident, or something much darker? Alicia has all the deets. We’ll be back next week with regular programming. Thank you for your patience and your kind words. Join us at Venkman’s in Atlanta December 29 for A Very Trashy New Year! Get your tickets here. Alicia brings you the tragic story of Betty Broderick’s ultimately fatal obsession with her ex-husband Dan and his second wife Linda. The genius of professional wrestling in the Vince McMahon era is likely the creation of near mythological characters whose real lives are often rolled up into the unreal world in which they work. Hulk Hogan was one of the most famous people in America in the 1980s and 1990s, a wholesome brute of a character who admonished his “Hulkamaniac” fans to train, say their prayers, and take their vitamins. The reality was different. His vitamins were anabolic steroids, and his wife Linda believed that he was frequently unfaithful to her. Stacie has all the salacious details of their divorce, his sex tape scandal, and the ongoing legal drama that seems to be a permanent fixture for the former couple. As comically bad as that was, Alicia has a sadder story still: the real life love between Randy “Macho Man” Savage and Miss Elizabeth, the First Lady of Professional Wrestling. Happy Halloween, Samhain, Day of the Dead, or whatever you find yourself celebrating this week! We figured there’s nothing scarier than a few trashy divorce stories, and as always, you delivered! We’ve got six stories of marrying too young, controlling spouses, kick ass grannies, and grannies done wrong. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. Keep ’em coming at trashydivorces@gmail.com! They say that if you don’t laugh, you’ll have to cry, and that seems very true of our subjects this week. Comedian Richard Pryor revolutionized the art form when he stormed onto the scene in the 1960s. By the end of the decade, he was one of the edgiest and most successful voices in comedy. Alicia documents his five wives, six divorces, and seven marriages – as well as the profoundly difficult childhood he survived but never quite outran. Then, Stacie has the strange life and career of pathbreaking comedienne Roseanne Barr, whose quick rise from the comedy clubs of Denver to the bright lights of Hollywood inspired a generation to take a stab at stand-up. Her early ’90s romance with comedian Tom Arnold was seemingly designed for the tabloids. Her story is complicated, baffling, and in many ways, sad. Can’t get enough #trashcandy? A while back, we covered the tumultuous relationship between John McEnroe and Tatum O’Neal and learned something funny: TV legend and record shattering film director Penny Marshall and Hollywood royalty/Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher threw each other a birthday party every year. This week, we have the not-that-trashy divorces of lifelong best friends Penny Marshall and Carrie Fisher. Stacie has Penny, who was married twice, first to the father of her daughter, and next to fellow TV legend and later film director Rob Reiner. The first lasted three years, the second ten, but it seems that Penny maintained warm ties to both. Alicia has Carrie, who was in a long relationship with musician Paul Simon that included a brief marriage in the middle. Simon’s song Hearts and Bones documents the end of the relationship, but it sure seems like their love never really died. Can’t get enough #trashcandy? This week, we have just one story, but it’s kind of a story with everything. Alicia brings us the life and loves of Pablo Picasso, the legendary artist and Certified Problematic Person. He had nine great romances in his life, but unfortunately, he tended to leave the women who’d loved him worse off, sometimes with tragic results. Need more #trashcandy in your life? This week, we have two incredible divorce stories from the entertainment world. First up, Stacie has the 2015 split of celebrity chef Bobby Flay and Law and Order: SVU actress Stephanie March. This divorce is one of the ways that Stacie learned to love divorce stories. Then Alicia has a reality television couple who were plus eight, until they were minus each other: Kate and Jon Gosselin. Learn about Alicia’s mental construct of “the dude,” and how Jon’s incessant dude-ing made it impossible to be the husband and father his family deserved. What’s in your wallet? Well, if you’re one of our subjects this week, the answer is piles and piles of money! First up, Alicia has the dirt on a towering figure of the 20th century, Howard Hughes. Hughes was a titan of industry, a Hollywood mogul, an engineer and inventor, a pilot and aircraft designer, and one of the richest people in the world during his flamboyant but ultimately tragic life. Next, Stacie has the dish on a modern version of the same type of mind: Jeff Bezos, whose 25-year-long marriage to novelist MacKenzie Bezos ended this year. They split a $137 billion fortune and fended off an extortion plot allegedly masterminded by Saudi Arabia. It’s quite the tale. Can’t get enough #trashcandy? We asked and you answered! This week, we’re getting season four teed up for September 29, but we promised an episode from the mailbag if you sent in your trashy divorce stories. We were inundated! This episode is just a taste of the amazing stories we’ve loved reading all week. This episode features couples who married too young, a nefarious lawyer, a globe trotting snob, a poorly executed kidnapping plot, a flaming wedding dress, a nanny’s betrayal, a hidden history of armed robbery, and so much more. We’ve enjoyed this whole thing more than we can say, and we’d love to make Dirty Details a (semi?) regular thing. We love going a little bit sideways with our season finale episodes! Stacie has the scoop on a weird historical moment we’re in: For the first time ever, an American political party has fielded a presidential primary contest featuring only divorced people. Seriously, this has never happened before and would have been unthinkable until very recently. Now, we’re the only people even mentioning it (it’s kind of our brand). Come meet your 2020 Republican primary field and get the scoop on all their trashbaggery! Let’s give it up for Donald Trump, Bill Weld, Joe Walsh, and Mark Sanford! Then, Alicia ends her string of podcast no-tears with the story of soothing 1970s crooner and trashbag (it turns out), John Denver. He had two marriages that ended in divorce, and both experiences revealed some disturbing things about the man. We’re off next week, but we’re asking for your divorce stories! If we get enough, we’ll put together an episode for you featuring listeners’ trashy divorces! Got a trashy divorce in your life? Share the dirt (no real names, please!) at trashydivorces@gmail.com.

This week, we’ve got two of the most beloved performers to have graced us in decades. Alicia’s got the intense story of Whitney Houston, an incredible talent whose path was in many ways set by the agendas of those around her. Her 14-year-long marriage to Bobby Brown was ultimately catastrophic, and her untimely death was tragic beyond words. In the second half, Stacie leads the first meeting of the Sandra Bullock Fan Club of Trashy Divorces. Sandra’s five-year-long marriage to West Coast Chopper Jesse James blew up spectacularly when his numerous infidelities hit the tabloid press just days after Sandra won her first Oscar. Stacie’s had a lot of requests to cover the dirtbaggery that was former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and the affair that tanked his administration. It turns out it was much more than an extramarital dalliance; it was symbolic of the deep corruption at the heart of Alabama’s government just a few short years ago. Then, Alicia has a delightful story about a really surprising historical fact about Alabama. We’re pretty sure you’ll be surprised, too. Sources and more at trashydivorces.com.

Hey friends – we’ve got a special episode for you this week. We’re prepping for our live show tonight and realized we’d be more likely to stay sane if we didn’t try to create two stories each this week. In that spirit, we bring you two timehopping stories from our Patreon files. First, Alicia has the almost unbelievable story of Eleanor of Aquitaine, a 12th century badass who was queen to two European kings and whose genes continue to animate most of the remaining royal houses of the continent. Alicia was deluged with requests for this story, and it does not disappoint. Then, Stacie has a bizarre tale that sprung from our Werewolves of London episode in season two. The 1971 Baker Street Bank Robbery in London has sometimes been linked to the excesses of Princess Margaret, but there’s reason to think that it may also be tied to the enduring scandal that engulfed the British government in the Profumo Affair. Please enjoy, and if you like these divorce-adjacent pieces, join us on Patreon for as little as $2 a month. Promo this week: Care/Of and Lola – just add “trashy” at checkout.

Who’s too sexy for this podcast? Not our subjects this week, widely recognized as two of the Sexiest Men Alive, and their equally jaw-dropping ex-wives. First up, Stacie has country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, and seriously, if you don’t Miranda’s back story, buckle up. It’s amazing.  Then, Alicia brings us the much bleaker story of the six-year-long marriage of 70s/80s heartthrob Burt Reynolds and his wife Loni Anderson. It was the divorce without end, but also, the story of Loni Anderson surviving and thriving after an abusive relationship. This week, it’s one of the most famous Leos of our time, two-time divorcee, and cultural and musical legend: Madonna. First up, Alicia has the story of her short and turbulent 1980s marriage to fellow Leo and Hollywood bad boy Sean Penn. Then, Stacie has the deets on Madonna’s second marriage, to filmmaker Guy Ritchie, and the custody battle that followed with – but not exactly over – their son, Rocco. It’s Alicia’s birthday week, and in her honor, we’re jumping in to the stories of two hilarious redheads. She’s got the surprisingly affectionate divorce of comedienne Lucille Ball and her amazingly capable, eventual ex-husband Desi Arnaz. Then Stacie explains that D-List icon Kathy Griffin is best understood as one of those 1970s Weeble toys: she may wobble sometimes, but there’s nothing that’s going to knock that woman down. Today we take a look at some lifestyles of the rich and famous, and their playground, Palm Beach, Florida. Stacie has the incredible story of a 20th century titan, Marjorie Merriweather Post, who was a four-time-divorcee and one-time richest woman in America. Then Alicia brings us the decidedly more laid back lifestyle of Peter Pulitzer and his wife Lilly Pulitzer (nee McKim), who lived an oddball lifestyle among Florida’s orange groves that led Lilly into fashion design.
July 21, 2019
This week, Alicia calls all the Trashy Divorces shots and brings you the story of the four wives – and three divorces – of 20th century literary giant Ernest Hemingway. Stacie’s here, but she’s playing hurt after dislocating her shoulder – we’ll be back with our usual format next week. Are you ready for some TENNIS! In honor of the Wimbledon finals, we’re bringing you two stories of the life and times of tennis legends of our age. First, Stacie has the incredibly trashy story of Tatum O’Neal, the youngest actor to ever win an Academy Award and a bona fide neglected and abused child, and her early marriage to career-focused and self-absorbed John McEnroe. Then, Alicia gives you a five game match on the strange love that bloomed between superstar Brooke Shields and superpower Andre Agas
July 7, 2019
Happy episode day, friends! This week, Alicia tells the sordid tale of Mary, Queen of Scots, who sure knew how to pick ’em. Stacie brings you the trashy divorces of Rupert Murdoch, who might have been better at destroying democracies than making love work. Everybody wants to rule the world, and this week, both of our profiles really, really tried.
June 23, 2019
Happy Pride, everyone! This week, we kick off season three with two tasty #trashcandy morsels. First up, Stacie has the trashy and short lived marriage of Elton John and Renate Blauel, a German sound engineer that he thought he’d fallen in love with. We sympathize with both of them, but mostly her. Then, Alicia has the incredible true life & love story of Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love, who demonstrates a beautiful and Pride-appropriate message that love is love is love…
June 16, 2019
Welcome to our season two finale! This week, Stacie peels back the layers of the Nashville onion to explore the tragedies and triumphs in the life of Canadian country music superstar Shania Twain. Then, Alicia applies Imago Therapy as a lens to understand the intergenerational dysfunction of country legend Wynonna Judd and her mother and sometimes-musical-partner Naomi Judd.
June 9, 2019
Turns out we’ve lost that loving feeling for Tom Cruise. From his early, relatively short marriage to Mimi Rogers, who recruited him into Scientology, to the unexplained end of his love match with Nicole Kidman, to Katie Holmes’s Mission: Impossible-style escape from him and Scientology, this week we’ve got as much dirt as we could dig on this legendary, and legendarily weird, star.
June 2, 2019
It’s Double Fantasy, friends! This week, we have the two trashiest divorce stories this side of the year 2000 – Brad and Jen & Brangelina! Which team are you on? Alicia will persuade you to come on over to #teamjen, a goddess of an ex-wife and a hero to all women. Stacie started this whole thing pretty neutral but came away with a pretty clear preference. (Spoiler: It’s #teamjen, too.)
May 26, 2019
Groovy, Baby! This week, we head back to the Swinging 60s (and 50s and 70s) in Olde London Towne. Stacie takes a look at the sex and spying scandal that rocked the UK in 1963, The Profumo Affair, and Alicia spills all the tea about the very trashy marriage and divorce of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowdon. Need more Trashy Divorces? Check us out at Patreon.com/TrashyDivorces for regular Trashy Tidbits and more!

Ready for some royalty? No, not that kind – this week we feature the Trashy Divorces of music royalty! Alicia details the First Couple of Country Music, George Jones and Tammy Wynette. Their relationship covered a lot of territory, from a heroic table flip to a double-barreled shotgun, and every other country music trope you can think of. Then Stacie takes us back to Memphis for the story of The King, Elvis Presley, and his (sorta) child bride, Priscilla.
May 12, 2019
To celebrate Mother’s Day, we decided to cover the Mother of Trashy Divorces – Elizabeth Taylor! And to cover Elizabeth Taylor, we asked our friend Erica Kelley of the Southern Fried True Crime podcast to join us! Elizabeth Taylor was complex: a child star, a hard-drinking beauty, a foul-mouthed sophisticate, a one-take actor, an Oscar winner, a widow, a mother, an activist, and a many-time divorcee. Elizabeth Taylor was singular. Come meet her with us, or get to know her again.
May 5, 2019
This week, Stacie's got Barnaby Joyce, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and a trash man on the make. After a career as a family values champion, a sex scandal known as #barnababy brought an end to his 24-year-long marriage. After the break, Alicia has the riveting story of Martha Mitchell, wife of Nixon-era Attorney General John Mitchell and the flawed Cassandra of the Watergate scandal. Or, in the memorable words of one listener, “that resourceful little drunk-dialer.”

Alicia explains the multifaceted life and times of former Hollywood executive turned writer warrior for justice Dominick Dunne to Stacie. Stacie shares the unimaginably complicated and (yet somehow) inspiring love of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Promo: Patreon.com/TrashyDivorces

This week, we look at very different relationships. Stacie shares the sordid tale of the nearly six-decade-long marriage of New York real estate developer Harry Macklowe and his wife Linda, who recently completed their trashy divorce at the tender ages of 80+. Then, Alicia has all the tea on the three trashy divorces – and deeply sad personal story – of Marilyn Monroe, a timeless icon who married and divorced the likes of Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller.
April 14, 2019
First, Alicia brings us an enduring mystery from the life of the Agatha Christie. On Friday, December 3, 1926, the 36-year-old author disappeared without a trace, only be found 11 days later safe in a hotel. What happened? Then, Stacie brings us closer to current events with the unfortunate tale of the marriage of writers Nora Ephron and Carl Bernstein. From catastrophe, Ephron rebuilt herself and her career, and found lasting greatness.
April 7, 2019
Welcome to a trashy 70s musical feast! First up, Stacie has the trashy situation that rock superstars Fleetwood Mac found themselves in circa 1977, when the whole band was a roiling mess of heartbreak, infidelity, illicit attraction, and power-pop prowess. In the second block, Alicia has the heartwrenching story of the marriage of Carly Simon and James Taylor. Though they had two children and spent years together, James’s drug addiction eventually made the marriage untenable.
March 31, 2019
And we’re back! In case you aren’t familiar with the subjects of our season two opener, Donald Trump is the son of a real estate millionaire. He got into the family business young and made a bit of a name for himself. Along the way, he had five children, three weddings, and a couple of trashy divorces. His story is trashy, but it’s even trashier when you dive into the life of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. Don Jr.'s tragic adolescence sent him deep into the shadow of his father. It's bleak, peop

Yes, it’s our week off, but we wanted to share some of the Trashy Tidbits that we put up on Patreon, as well as reveal Stacie’s hard-hitting No-Strology rebuttal to Alicia’s astrological framework. And wouldn’t you know it? No-Strology works pretty well as weird science too. We also update you on some Royals action, Rudy shouting, and preview a trashy octogenarian NYC divorce. See you back next Sunday, March 31, for Season 2!
March 17, 2019
NOTE: We're taking next week off and will be back 3/31 with season 2! First, Alicia brings us the story of the King and Queen of the Jazz Age, writer F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda. Though they never actually divorced, the story is a great illustration of the reality that some marriages just don’t work. Stacie follows that up with the story of a Manhattan address that ties together a bunch of Trashy Divorces threads.
March 10, 2019
This week we bring some soft focus with two divorces that seem to have left everybody – and perhaps the relationship itself – in better shape. First, Stacie tells the weird story of Sonny & Cher, and how Sonny’s unshakable vision of what Cher’s dreams looked like ultimately broke their relationship. Then Alicia shares the tale of England’s Prince Andrew and his lady love – possibly even to this day – Sarah Ferguson. They do seem to have had a spectacularly successful divorce.
March 3, 2019
This week, we talk musical royalty from the UK and the US. First, Alicia tells us the terribly trashy tale of the love triangle between Beatle George Harrison, his wife, model Pattie Boyd, and guitar legend Eric Clapton. Then, Stacie brings us back across the pond to cover the fascinating but heartbreaking story of Ike and Tina Turner. This one’s tough, but ultimately, Tina Turner escaped and followed her dreams, becoming a role model for badasses everywhere.
February 24, 2019
This week, Alicia and Stacie look at a couple of divorces featuring people whose names may not be top of mind, but whose wealth makes them almost untouchable – until their marriages fail.
February 17, 2019
Welcome to episode 8, where we're talking big time religious hucksters! Alicia walks us through the very trashy life - and marriages, and divorces - of Scientology founder and apparent boat enthusiast L. Ron Hubbard, and Stacie gives us the play-by-play of the scandal that didn't really change American evangelicalism (but probably should have), PTL Club founders Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.
February 14, 2019
A very merry Valentine’s Day to you and yours! To celebrate this ancient celebration of love, Alicia and Stacie invited a favorite friend pursuing her PhD in Mythology to talk about the Trashy Divorces of the ancient world. Alicia (yes, her name is also Alicia) shares a selection of sometimes disturbing, occasionally baffling, but deeply, deeply trashy interactions by gods, goddesses, and heroes from different cultures of yore.
February 10, 2019
This week, Alicia and Stacie explore the not-so-fairytale world of English royalty, and the fated romances of two of the modern era’s Prince of Wales. First, we look at possibly the most famous trashy divorce in living memory, Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Next, we give a fresh take on the romance – or was it? – between Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII, which led him to abdicate the English throne after less than a year upon it.
February 3, 2019
This week, we jump jump back to the early '90s to get into two of the most infamous cases of the decade: Joey & Mary Jo Buttafuoco (and Amy Fisher), and John & Lorena Bobbitt. Journey with us to the trashy past while we take a second look at these cases and why they still matter. See source content and more at trashydivorces.com.
January 27, 2019
This week, we look at two women who got famous – and then got married – way too young. Britney Spears was a pop juggernaut before she was 18 years old. Within a few years, she was desperately lashing out in pursuit of a life she could call her own. Drew Barrymore was born to Hollywood royalty, but was forced to take on life on her own very young. Both found their way into ill-advised marriages that ended with great fanfare.
January 20, 2019
Looking for some southern hospitality? Well, there’s some of that. This week, Alicia brings you the trashy divorce of Gone With The Wind author and Atlanta native Margaret Mitchell, while Stacie shares the long and trashy story of the several weddings, divorces, and many, many affairs of former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. For sources and more, check out trashydivorces.com.
January 13, 2019
Some people pursue fame relentlessly, while others can’t seem to shake the most notorious chapters of their lives. This week, Stacie shares the trashy, almost four year long divorce of reality TV fixture – and super smart businessperson – Bethenny Frankel of the Real Housewives of New York City. After the break, Alicia shares a golden oldie of trashy divorces – the 1950s love triangle between Debbie Reynolds, her husband Eddie Fisher, and most beautiful woman in the world, Elizabeth Taylor.
January 6, 2019
Welcome back! This week, Alicia explores the weird life (and marital) history of actor Charlie Sheen, and gives particular props to his ex-wife Denise Richards, who we're pretty sure is a saint. Then, Stacie explains how Anthony Weiner's penis broke American politics, world history, and of course, his marriage to the fabulous Huma Abedin. Check out the extras that we mention in the show at our website, TrashyDivorces.com.
January 1, 2019
Welcome to Trashy Divorces! This week, we explore repetitions and patterns of misconduct with none other than Rudy Giuliani, who is currently going through his third divorce, and King Henry VIII of England, whose six wives mostly met an alarming series of ends.
