You’re listening to episode 65 of the Grind & Be Grateful Podcast, and I am here with a solo episode my friends! One of the most frequently asked questions in my DM’s the past couple of weeks while I was away in Italy, was 'HOW the heck are you doing this without feeling guilty, without gaining weight, without feeling insecure, feeling bloated??!' How did I stay balanced and continue to feel good in my body while galavanting across Italy, eating all the pasta all the gelato hanging out in a swimsuit all day? HOW did I balance everything? It used to feel like this impossible future far, far away! That is something where years ago, I didn’t know if I’d ever get to this point! That makes me so much more grateful, and humbled that I’m experiencing true balance, true self-love, really healthy body image, and I REALLy struggled to get here; I had to put in the deep work to get here-- How to approach eating on vacation, how to approach movement, how to keep a level head when all of these variables are out of your control! Today, I have some really solid actionable strategies and hacks to share with ya’ll, so that you can take some steps towards balance, feeling incredible in your body no matter where in the world you are, no matter what the season or the circumstance!

You’re listening to episode number 64 of The Grind & Be Grateful Podcast. This week I’m playing musical-chairs with the mic and am sharing the episode I recorded with Liz Sandoz on her Podcast, ‘Miraculous Mamas’! You probs remember Liz from episode number 56 (AND for any of my Bachelor Nation fans out there…. Liz was on Nick Viall’s season of the Bachelor!) Liz was in MY home while we recorded this episode, and as you’ll see she made me FEEL right-at-home while chatting with her. We went deeeep on my personal development journey. You’ve heard me talk about the coat of armor I used to wear, and in this episode we rewind alllll the way back to my childhood days of feeling self conscious in my body, even all the way back to ELEMENTARY school, my unfulfilling + UN-happy journey to the nonexistent land of 'Destination Happiness', and then what it took to reach for goals like self-acceptance + self-love over diets, competitions, and a life of insecurity. I KNOW you are going to get so much out of this episode-- there’s something really special about letting you in on the conversation when I’m sharing my personal stories, rather than asking the questions, and it will give you some incredible insights into how YOU can cultivate confidence, choose self love, and start enjoying the journey. Today we are switching things up with a replay episode featuring yours-truly on the She Podcast with Jordan Lee Dooley! YES, the author of National Best Seller, Own Your Everyday (Overcome the Pressure to Prove and Show Up for What You Were Made to Do) Jordan and I are both Enneagram 3’s and have lived the same story in a lot of ways, ‘just in different packaging’ as she puts it! I know you’re going to love how she leads this conversation as we get real and raw about my low points of sacrificing personal priorities for physical results, and prioritizing what I wanted to accomplish over how I wanted to FEEL for way too long. If you land on my page or a blurb from the podcast, you KNOW that I’m wildly passionate about teaching women HOW to find confidence within themselves, HOW to have a healthy lifestyle, and HOW to reach those physical goals from a place of true self love. But, what I love about switching chairs on episodes like these is that I get to take things ‘down to the studs’ (so to speak!) and remind you guys that I’ve built and placed self confidence on MANY different kinds of foundation over the years— some cracked and some not-so-sturdy, but eventually... some solid and stable! You KNOW I love goals, but when we place confidence in the achievement/approval (of ourselves OR others!) ..THAT’S where things crumble. As Jordan and I chat about today, confidence is not something you win by crossing a finish line. You can’t WIN confidence. But after some soul searching, time off, and basically an identity crisis, I found I was going about confidence and self love in allllll the wrong ways. We talk about feeling stuck, the limits we put on ourselves, why we attach labels, being multi passionate, feeding our brains with new choices and thoughts, and how you can sit with the ‘stuck’ in an empowering way instead of a wallowing way! If you’re feeling lost from a lack of direction or misplaced confidence, listen in for tangible tips and takeaways, because YOU are worthy of showing up for. When was the last time you stood in front of your closet and were truly EXCITED to get dressed?! For most women, I feel like it’s more of a staring at all of your hangers for five minutes, try some stuff on, throw a pile of “no’s” onto your bed, and end up wearing the first outfit anyway, even though it was “meh” kind of situation. Does that sound familiar? Do you feel like you truly know and own your style, or do you wake up each morning, frustrated with what’s hanging in your closet/folded in your drawers? Either way, this episode is for you, girl! We’re dressing up confidence with Style Coach, Daniella Siebert of Fox & Bloom. She’s sharing her go-to strategies to reclaim your wardrobe and clothe yourself with confidence, strength, and fearless authenticity. Daniela shares the story behind Fox & Bloom, how you can conquer limiting beliefs within yourself and your style, how you can start dressing your body with kindness and respect, and how you can quit consuming and start curating. Today we’re losin’ the baggage, gaining confidence, and getting honest with the ‘labels’ we decide to put on each day!SHOP KLASSY NETWORK BLUE LIGHT GLASSES: ( (10% off code: MARIE)FOLLOW MARIE: DANIELLA: YOUR CLOSET CODE: MARIE

Topics like setting fitness goals from a place of love… daily habits for balance… avoiding extremes… all of those sound familiar if you’ve been a part of my tribe for a while now, but I’m excited to really dive deep into each one and bring you some new insights across the board! I know that each of those topics can be tricky, because there’s no one RIGHT way to achieve balance or love yourself, and that can be frustrating. I totally get it. BUT one thing that always helps is to hear from other women who have mastered those things for themselves and how THEY did it, so today, I brought on your favorite Aussie and lawyer turned health coach, Georgie Stevenson-- we’re unpacking how she went from low-energy, unhappy, and increasingly self-conscious, to feeling not only the healthiest she has ever been, but also the happiest, strongest and fittest. Georgie has made it her mission to save others the time and trial of mistakes made on their own journeys, and she is all about ‘health, without the obsession’, which you know I’m 100% on board with! You’ll hear all sorts of amazing insights from here like how she balanced her hormones, transitioned to eating intuitively, healed her body image, and her advice for anyone starting out or feeling stuck in their own health and fitness journey. I know you’re gonna LOVE this one! SHOW NOTES: ( MARIE: ( GEORGIE: (

I’m SO glad you on this episode even though it has the word MONEY in the title. I know finances can be a touchy subject for some people, but I really wanna make money talk NORMAL and break the stigma around it because our financial health is so so important when it comes to our quality of life, stress, and our general wellbeing. As we’ll talk about today, that DOESN’T mean that you have to make a TON of money to be happy or secure, it just means that you have to know how to optimize what you DO have and really get empowered about finances. That’s exactly what we’re going to do today with our lovely guest, Chloe, who is a 23 year-old Millennial Money Coach. She helps millennials pay off debt, actually get ahead with their finances & save for big future investments without making huge sacrifices. After paying off over $36,000 of debt in just 18 months and seeing how it transformed her own life, Chloe found her calling and decided to show other 20-somethings how to create a life of financial freedom for themselves, too. Her mission is to make finances fun and easy for millennials, and prove that you can travel, be social, enjoy your young adulthood AND still get ahead with money. She is an expert in negotiating, gaining confidence around money, and advocates for her clients to optimize their finances instead of sacrificing the things they love. Chloe's clients are proof that you don't have to wait until you're 60 to have financial freedom, and that it's absolutely possible to enjoy life, travel & spend without stress right NOW. She also has an incredible program called the Wealth Accelerator, which is open for enrollment until the end of this week, and you can get a bonus 30-minute coaching call with Chloe by using code MARIE when you sign up! Have a pen handy, because this week’s guest will be bringing you one of the most quotable episodes you have ever listened to, and I know that you’ll want to come back to the insights she shares again and again! Today, we have the one and only Jasmine star on the show, who is a photographer, entrepreneurial educator, and business strategist from Newport Beach, California. Jasmine has a SUPER cool story that we’ll get into a little bit during the interview, but essentially, she is a master at making BIG moves to pursue big dreams, including dropping out of law school to pursue photography when hadn’t even learned how to use a camera yet. Risky? Maybe, but her life and empire is nothing short of an inspiration and proof that with hard work, and the right mindset, absolutely anything is possible. In under three years, she has built an internationally renowned business and graced the pages of Forbes, Entrepreneur, and INC magazine. Jasmine empowers entrepreneurs to build a brand, market it on social media, and create a life they love. I know you’ve heard the term “self-care” about a million times in the last year, but I’m super excited to give you a FRESH perspective and share some really actionable insights on self-care and hormone health with you guys today! I sat down with Dr. Mariza Snyder to talk all thing self-care, and she is a functional practitioner and the author of six books, with her newest one being The Essential Oils Hormone Solution, which is all about balancing hormones with the power of essential oils. I’ll be honest, I was pretty sceptical about essential oils before this interview. I’ve used them around my house in diffusers but I really just thought that they smelled good and anything beyond that was a placebo effect. BOY WAS I WRONG-- there is SO much to learn about essentials oils and it’s a different area of wellness that I’m now exploring because of everything Dr. Mariza shares in this episode. She is a TOTAL expert in her field and it’s so cool to have her on the show because she has lectured at wellness centers, conferences, and corporations on hormone health, essential oils, nutrition, and detoxification. She has been featured on Dr. Oz, Fox News Health, MindBodyGreen and many publications, so it’s definitely an honor to get her on The Grind & Be Grateful podcast now as well. She also has her own show, the Essentially You Podcast, designed to empower women to become the CEO of their health. You guys hear my guests and me talk about MINDSET alllll of the time, but I know that it’s one of those tricky topics that be hard to take action on and actually APPLY to your life. There’s just SO MUCH information, so much content, and so many opinions out there and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. So this week I wanted to make mindset really TANGIBLE and ACTIONABLE for you when it comes to HEALTH + FITNESS. Because you can have the absolute perfect plan for your goals and still not see results if your headspace isn’t where it needs to be, right? Self-sabotage, limiting beliefs, lack of self-awareness, emotional breakdowns… the list goes ON, but basically my point is that making progress in health and fitness is way more MENTAL than people realize. I have JUST the girl to talk about this stuff-- one of my best friends, Caryn Paolini. She Caryn is absolutely AMAZING at combining psychology and health and fitness because she actually has a psychology degree, used to work in psychology and now she is a women’s health and fitness coach, much like myself. So in this episode, her and I really dig into what sort of mindset shifts need to happen for you to reach your goals and HOW to make them, the psychology behind building good habits and getting rid of bad ones, and how to get yourself out of a FUNK, no matter how down you feel. I know you’re going to learn a TON from Caryn and leave this episode feeling really empowered and ready to level up mentally. I had to pleasure of sitting down to chat with Karissa Pukas, who is a Canadian content creator and entrepreneur, and as you’ll find out, she is a total badass. Karissa has built a YouTube audience of almost 750 THOUSAND subscribes, plus hundreds of thousands of more followers on Instagram and Twitter. You’re listening to episode number 35 of the grind and be grateful podcast, and today it’s just you and me! I’m going to take you guys through my 8 pillars of total confidence and wellness and I’m SO excited for it because unlocking these 8 things is truly just life-changing for anyone that commits to it. And for a little background as to how these came about, a while back, I was looking for a framework or curriculum to take my coaching clients through that would help them integrate MENTAL transformation into their health + fitness journeys, because simply giving them workouts, a nutrition plan, and answering their questions wasn’t ENOUGH, it wasn’t giving the life-changing transformations that I knew I could help them create. Basically, I couldn't find anything that made sense for my coaching philosophy and what I knew would be the most transformative... so I created my own, and over time I edited it, refined it, and eventually it became what I call the 8 Pillars of Total Confidence + Wellness. There are 8 pillars and each one helps you create… you guessed it-- total confidence and wellness in your life in a BALANCED and sustainable way. And one of the best things about this framework is that even though it’s the same tools and overall end goal for everyone, it will LOOK different for everyone. In case you haven’t noticed, this show has had EXCLUSIVELY female guests for the 8 months of its existence, but this week, we are taking girl talk to another level because we are talking ALL things hormonal health, periods, and birth control. Think of this episode as a super empowering, mind-blowing upgrade in place of what high school health class SHOULD have taught you. I sat down with the incredible, Dr. Jolene Brighten, who is a Functional Medicine Naturopathic Medical Doctor and the founder of Rubus Health, a women’s medicine clinic that specializes in women's hormones. She is recognized as a leading expert in Post-Birth Control Syndrome and the long-term side effects associated with hormonal contraceptives. Dr. Brighten is the best selling author, speaker and regular contributor to several online publications and health apps.   I’m SO grateful for the work Dr. Brighten is doing in women’s health and she has SO much knowledge to share in this episode. We talked all about: - Women's experience with traditional, western medicine - How we can feel more empowered and in control of our health - The basics of the menstrual cycle and why it’s NOT that complicated - The nitty gritty of hormonal birth control and the need-to-knows for before, during, and after using hormonal contraceptives.   If you’re a woman… you NEED to know this stuff, and I’m so happy that you’re here. With it being mid January right now, New Year’s resolutions are either going strong, or starting to fizzle out no matter how GOOD our intentions were. The other day, I was reading an artcile about New Year’s resolutions and they had polled over a 1000 people… among that sample, almost HALF of them had diet resolutions, with the top approaches being low carb, basic calorie restriction (which could include just eating healthier), keto, and low-fat. As a wellness coach, I DEFINITELY have my own opinions about all of those approaches, cough cough especially keto, but I wanted to bring on someone even more specialized to chat about diets,  nutrition, and how they fit into a healthy lifestyle this week, so I brought on a registered dietitian, and WNBF bikini pro, Kara Corey! Kara really specializes in providing science-based, accurate nutrition information for the fitness community, and she does so through her YouTube channel, Kara Corey Fit Life, where she has a dietitian talk series, documents her competition preps, and shares tons of healthy recipes and lifestyle tips. She has over 100k subscribers, and for good reason, because Kara truly knows her stuff! So in this interview, Kara and I covered a TON of topics, but the standouts to me were: breaking down where to start if you’re overwhelmed with nutrition, how to make healthy eating a truly enjoyable lifestyle, and how we can pursue physical health AND mental health at the same time.   SHOW NOTES: FOLLOW MARIE: FOLLOW KARA:

For my Americans listening, this week’s show is just in time for one of my personal favorite holidays, THANKSGIVING. Obviously since this is the grind & be GRATEFUL podcast, gratitude is super important and I love that it’s so central during this time of year. Sometimes the magic of the holiday season can be overshadowed by our own personal struggles though, particularly around food and exercise. Sometimes we get SO wrapped up in our diet or exercise plan that we lose sight of that magic-- food and body concerns take your focus off of being present, enjoying your loved ones, enjoying the celebrations and the food, and if you are currently like “holy crap, this is me” right now-- if you have spent past holidays worried about eating the right things, or not eating too much, or working off your food-- then this episode is for you. I sat down with my friend Jessi Jean, who is a certified eating psychology and she helps women evolve their relationship with food, ditch dieting, and reclaim their health and happiness in ALL areas in life. And not only is Jessi incredibly knowledgeable and has the credentials to back it up, she has also personally overcome massive struggles with eating disorders, body image, exercise, and self-worth. She is living proof that there is SO much life and freedom on the other side of our struggles with food and body, and I’m really excited for you to hear from her, especially her wisdom and strategies for approaching the holiday season in a balanced, healthy way where stress food and exercise DOESN’T cloud the experience. This conversation really couldn’t have come at a better time! Victoria is even a TEDx speaker, and her talk “Athletes and Mental Health: The Hidden Opponent” has led to tons of media exposure and opportunities for her to shed light on the internal battles that many athletes, and actually young adults in general, are facing. Normally, I wouldn’t do two solo shows in a row-- it just doesn’t sit well with my perfectionist tendencies, BUT I’m making an exception and shuffling some things around because I have something REALLY exciting to tell you about this week. But before we get to the really exciting announcement, I wanna fill you in on what this episode is about and that is HEALTHY HABITS. As you probably know, habits are the foundation of wellness because when motivation fades, habits and discipline will be what keep you chugging along. But the tricky thing with habits is that it always feels like BAD habits are SO easy to fall into, and GOOD habits are SO hard to establish-- can you relate?! For me, one of the most helpful things when it comes to creating those healthy habits is to really get clear on the IMPACT it’s going to have. I’m the type of person where if there isn’t a clear, logical reason for doing something, I’m absolutely NOT going to be motivated to do it. So today I’m going to share with you 10 healthy habits that have literally changed my LIFE, AND explain the impact that they’ve had so that you can decide whether or not each habit is something you want to pursue and if you do, you can do so with clarity and confidence that it’s with your best interest in mind and at heart. Today it’s just you and me for another SOLO SHOW! I recently polled my instagram followers about what type of content and topics you guys would want to see and lots of you said you wanted more solo shows, so your wish is my command.. PLUS they’re really fun for me too! Today we are talking about the top 5 things that I’ve learned on my fitness and let me tell you… most of these were learned the HARD way. I started my fitness journey about 8 years ago and I did EVERYTHING wrong in the beginning and basically made things way harder than they needed to be for YEARS. I saw the light eventually, have learned SO much, and now I’m a successful coach and everything, but I would have saved so much time and frustration if I would've understood these 5 lessons sooner. Obviously I can’t go back in time yet, BUT hopefully by sharing these lessons with you, you’ll get to skip over a little bit of that struggle that I went through. PLUS the sooner you can learn and apply these lessons to fitness, the sooner you can apply them to the rest of your life too. Because while I am talking about these in the context of health and fitness, they can all be directly applied to ANY other area of life as well, and that’s one of the reasons why health/fitness/wellness are foundational topics of this show-- they really translate into every other area of life and are a catalyst for growth. Today’s episode is SO relevant because with Andrew and my’s 8-week fall fitness challenge, we are getting SO many messages and comments in our facebook group saying “I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M EATING THIS MUCH AND STILL LOSING WEIGHT” and then, before we started the challenge and everyone was just getting their plans, we had multiple panicked messages asking us if we made a typo or if we were sure the numbers were right because some people’s recommended fat loss calories were HIGHER than they were used to eating but they weren’t even seeing progress with them. It might sound like some magic fantasy world, but this phenomenon is VERY REAL and as a coach, I see this ALL of the time. Women are chronically under-eating, sometimes for decades, and it’s not doing anyone any favors. So we’re going to set the record straight in today’s episode with the help of my guest, Laura Schoenfeld. Laura is a Registered Dietitian with her own private practice. She specializes in helping overstressed, overtrained, and undernourished women get back to better physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. She is known as “The Period Girl”, not even kidding, and she is INSANELY knowledgeable about all things periods, hormones, birth control-- all of those fun girly things that we all experience all the time. Nicole is also going to break down common period problems, reasons why we experience period problems in the first place, the crazy drug that we call birth control ,and more-- and as much as we tend to shy away from these topics, as women, this is all stuff that we NEED to know. We have to be our own advocates and we have to be empowered to take charge of our own health. So a little bit about Nicole: her mission is to help women in their 20s and 30s reclaim their hormonal health and feminine vitality, NATURALLY. She’s a Certified Women’s Health + Functional Nutrition Coach with a specialty in hormonal and reproductive health and has completed a TON of education in women’s health-- she know’s her shit, and you’re gonna see what I mean when we get into the episode. Today we’re going to get REALLY REAL, so I hope you’re ready! We’re talking about 5 life-changing realizations that I’ve had, and how you can apply them to your life too-- and it’s just you and me! I’m back with another solo show because I LOVE getting to just hang out and chat with you guys one on one. Today we gonna talk about 5 of the biggest realizations, or lessons, or mindset shifts that I have had so far in my life. Now, don’t get me wrong-- I’m 23 years old and I still have a LOT to learn, but I have made HUGE strides in my personal development and awareness of myself and others in the past… I’d say 2-3 years… because I’ve really committed myself to addressing the messy stuff and just learning. Reading books, listening to podcasts, meditating, journaling, talking with mentors and friends, and sitting in stillness with myself-- that one is huge. All of those practices have helped me realize the 5 things that I’ll be talking through today. So whether you’re in a similar place and need some affirmation that you’re on the right track, or you’re 10 steps ahead of me and need some quick reminders, or if you’re a couple steps behind me and haven’t quite gotten here yet-- I hope this episode serves you in whatever way you need it to! I might be a little biased, but this episode is insanely good-- one of my favorites for sure-- and I know that you’re going to get a TON of value from today’s guest, Emily Sexton. In her past life, Emily worked on Wall Street as a Vice President of Communications and Change Management, and now she brings her ‘win them over’ know-how, delightful enthusiasm and every day wit to encourage American consumers to use their purchasing power for good. You can now find Emily traveling in developing nations in order to find gorgeous new goods for her Downtown Raleigh, NC Boutique + online shop, The Flourish Market. As you can tell, Emily is a woman of MANY talents and experiences, and she is sharing them all with us today! Our conversation covered everything from how to discover your self-worth, to the lessons we can learn from fitness, to actionable tips for productivity and preserving the most precious resources you have: your time and energy. I am SO pumped for you guys to hear this conversation I had with Lauren Irick, who is a world class bikini competitor turned wellness and self-love warrior. Her and I have walked an extremely similar path, minus the world class part of course, but we have both experienced the extremes of fitness competitions and are now pursuing healing and health above all else. In this episode, Lauren is pulling back the curtain and sharing what it REALLY takes to be a top professional bikini competitor / bodybuilder and the consequences she’s faced because of it. We also share our experiences with trying to heal holistically in the conventional western medical system-- spoiler alert: it’s super frustrating. And last but definitely not least, we dive deep into what it’s like to basically start all over again with our personal identities, confidence, and self-worth after leaving the sport that we had dedicated our lives to. As you can tell, this conversation covered SO many important topics, and even if you’re not interested in the competing world, I know that you’ll learn so much from Lauren and her journey of healing and personal growth. The single MOST important relationship we'll ever have is with ourselves, yet so many of us our guilty of leaving our own needs as an afterthought. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a student, a mom, a corporate girl boss, or anything in between, it's so easy to let our ambitions and hunger for success totally take over. There's ALWAYS more work to be done, more people to meet, and more concepts to brainstorm... but hustling endlessly comes at a cost. For today's guest, Kat Harris, that cost was crippling anxiety attacks and overwhelming exhaustion-- that was her wake up call. Through her rise as a super successful photographer, the founding of an online magazine, honing her content creation skills, and starting a podcast of her own, Kat has learned the importance of putting her own oxygen mask on first, but it hasn't been a smooth ride by any means. Listen in as well discuss the really important (and really HARD) things we need to tackle as ambitious women with big goals.
