After Spider-Man's dealings with The Lizard finished, we all thought he was in for a rest.
No. An injured Spidey is thrown into an encounter with a new Villain, The Shocker. And is someone getting closer to discovering the true identity of Spider-Man? Yes.
Here's issue 46 of The Amazing Spider-Man. Complete with our favourite EVER Spidey moment up to this point.
RIP STAN LEE
Music by RUSTY NAILS.
Over the past week, we lost Stan Lee.
Stan Lee co-created The Amazing Spider-Man and passed away this week aged 95.
Clearly, we would not be here doing this without him, and Steve Ditko.
May he rest in peace.
Still, the journey continues.
This week, Spider-Man, a sprained Spidey at that, tries to go toe-to-toe with The Lizard once more.
No Dr Curt Connors COULD NOT hold it together for one more episode. He's gone - the promised and threatened change has happened and he is the Lizard once more.
Spider-Man? He's got to keep it together and keep this under wraps and help get his old friend back!
We cover issue 44 of The Amazing Spider-Man - and pray it can only get better for Peter Parker.
This week in Swinging Through Spider-Man, the Spider-Man podcast that knows almost nothing about Spider-Man, the boys tackle issue 43 of The Amazing Spider-Man.
Tune in for:
Find out the origin of the Rhino.
Just what drugs is Mary Jane on?
Where does Peter Parker get off?
What does Dad mean?
Last time on Swinging Through Spider-Man, we read The Amazing Spider-Man issue 41 by Stan Lee and John Romita; where John Jameson came back from a space mission covered in space spores.
In this issue, issue 42, the space spores make Big John go a bit mad.
We meet Mary Jane Watson, and so does Peter Parker.
The Rhino tries to escape the Animal Testing facility he is now locked in.
Spider-Man genuinely robs a bank.
Swinging Through Spider-Man is a Spider-Man podcast where two mates read through The Amazing Spider-Man for the very first time.
If you're Russian, and you want someone to get the job done for you and your country - you know who to call.
No. Not someone with access to destructive toxins and nerve agents. You need the RHINO!
The infamous Spidey Villain debuts shortly after Spider-Man's tussle with the Green Goblin and he's ready to wreck it. Coming in hot over the Mexican border, he's got a target in mind. A target close to Spidey...
James and Brad advance through the story of The Amazing Spider-Man with this readthrough of issue 41. Enjoy!
The Green Goblin's clearly taken lessons from his business career into his 'personal life' as his preferred method of torture is via a PowerPoint presentation, with all the nifty animations and transitions!
It's issue 40 of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.
James and Brad are back to find out what has happened to Peter Parker, ever since his true identity was discovered by the Green Goblin, who also unmasked.
It's got (no thrills), (no spills), but plenty of laughs. That's usually the case though, when two people who know nothing about Spider-Man, podcast about Spider-Man...
A new era of The Amazing Spider-Man begins. John Romita Snr takes over from Steve Ditko while Stan Lee pens the stories. Spider-Man is back with issue 39!
And we're back. Join us as we experience the unmasking of the Green Goblin - who enacts his revenge on Spider-Man
It's an end of an era - so we took a look back at our favourite memories of the first 38 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man. We also asked you about your favoruite panels and stories! Thanks for getting back to us.
In this episode, we talk at length about some of our favourite story beats, and discuss your thoughts on Steve Ditko's run on Spider-Man. With Stan Lee, the pair defined a famous character.
Be sure to listen to the last five minutes so you can get the skinny on the first competition that we are running, with a one-of-a-kind prize. Sort of.
This is it from us, Steve. Rest In Peace.
See you soon, John Romita. We'll be back next week with the first in a new saga for The Amazing Spider-Man, with issue 39.
If you want something to reinforce your newfound love for a character, there's nothing like a AAA Playstation 4 game.
Marvel's Spider-Man is just that, and it's a refreshing tonic for James and Brad who are absolutely not shoving in a filler episode to buy Brad time to produce artwork for the podcast.
Even then, it's a brilliant time to dissect, critique and enjoy this fantastic game. Truly, despite some of our thoughts and criticism, this game is a world-beater and gets our stamp of approval.
SPOILERS within, so beware. We're talking about most things from ACT ONE but there are minor spoilers for ACT THREE. Bare that in mind.
But if you're down to join in - there's a lot of discussion about a mature Peter Parker, Otto Octavius' fast food of choice and Norman Osborn's career paths. Join us, and celebrate this FANTASTIC game.
James and Brad have finally finished their journey through the first era of The Amazing Spider-Man. The last Steve Ditko drawn comic is down and out. A new era begins shortly.
So, do you want to know about a Guy Named Joe? Do you want to see Norman Osborn do his best Breaking Bad? Do you want to know what happens when Jeremy Clarkson fights a chef?
Of course you do! Listen on!
Another episode of Swinging Through Spider-Man takes you, the listener ever closer to the present day by dragging a run of the mill 60's Spidey comic out to a 45 minute run time.
This time, we've got the penultimate Steve Ditko comic, issue 36 of The Amazing Spider-Man. Big Steve is just about done with Marvel and Stan Lee right about now, so he's phoning it.
Which makes for some amazing comic book art, if we do say so ourself. We dissect the story of issue 36 for the very first time and suck out every last drop as Spider-Man encounters The Looter and struggles with University.
Spider-Man is finding his feet as a superhero, and that's good - because he's got to tangle with the Molten Man again! Packing a punch, James and Brad talk about Spidey's second punch-up with the Molten Man!
These two slug it out, and out, and out, and out in a never ending punch fest. Who needs story when you can hit each other in the face?
You can send us feedback and thoughts at firstname.lastname@example.org - we'll read them out! Shout out to Rusty Nails for composing our intro!
Pete's back in style, his aunt is healthy - he's going back to school.
Things are looking up?
Maybe. Kraven has his eye on our boy. And he's coming.
You can send us feedback and thoughts at email@example.com - we'll read them out!
Things are getting dire for Spider-Man.
His Aunt is dying, his love life has failed, he is broke - and he's also getting crushed to death following a failed encounter with Doctor Octopus.
It's part three of Spider-Man's first 'arc' - and it's the final part of 'If This Be My Destiny' so go back and catch the last two or three episodes before diving in.
James and Brad cover The Amazing Spider-Man #33, a life and death situation for Spidey. Will Curt Connors be able to fix the formula, will Spidey escape? Where's Doc Ock and how will Aunt May fare? Find out all in the new Swinging Through Spider-Man.
You can send us feedback and thoughts at firstname.lastname@example.org - we'll read them out!
Thank you for your support.
Aunt May is in poor health, Spider-Man is struggling and Pete is being Pete. Business as usual for the Amazing Spider-Man?
James and Brad tackle the second story in the three-part 'If This Be My Destiny 'Arc, widely known as the best Spider-Man story going, and if not that, the most iconic.
As The Master Planner continues to get the better of Spider-Man, the wallcrawler continues to fall into the traps laid out for him. Our hero seeks help from an unlikely source, and it all ends with a crushing finale.
Also, James uses his 'audio skills' to reveal the true identity of The Master Planner in a 'glorious' manner...
You can send us feedback and thoughts at email@example.com - we'll read them out!

Destiny. If this be his? That's the title of this new arc and well - what to expect?
Well, things haven't gotten that much better for Peter. He is hated by his new college classmates - including the Three Muskateers of Flash Thompson, Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacey. His aunt has fallen ill, and his beau is tangling with a marriage proposal from another man.
At least there's always Spider-Man! Well, if he can get on the right side of a bunch of masked criminals roaming around the streets of New York acting for the 'Master Planner'. Hold onto your butts as James and Brad take you through the first act of what is apparently 'the definitive Spider-Man story'.
RIP Steve Ditko.
Your boys are all grown up. James and Brad performed the latest episode of Swinging Through Spider-Man live at the Birmingham Podcast Festival over the past weekend. Their radio silence is because of the hearty prep required to bring such a magnificent showcase of all things Spidey to an adoring crowd.
We hit issue #30. Peter Parker's life starts to get rough as forces collide. His Aunt is ill, his ex-girlfriend seems to have moved on, and it's getting to him. He's even missed a new criminal causing widespreas havoc. The Cat is loose, and he's got a big victim in mind.
The day was marked with the sad news of the passing of Steve Ditko. Steve, of course, was the genius behind Spider-Man - truly. While the work of Stan Lee should never be discounted, the reason that Spidey is Spidey is more than likely because of Ditko. RIP Steve. We wouldn't be doing this without you.
We'd like to take this time to place on record our thanks to Podiant, Mark Steadman, Jon Hickman and the Mockingbird Cinema for allowing us to live a small dream. Not only did England make the World Cup semi-final (it's coming home), but we got to perform our 'act' live to an audience.
To everyone else, thank you, as always, for everything -
Your regular content is back!
After the diversion of the latest Spider-Man Annual, James and Brad continue with the story of Spider-Man.

And we are back with a doozy. A new villain appears, Peter breaks hearts, he falls for old traps and he gets his duds back! It's issue 28 of The Amazing Spider-Man by Stan Lee and Ditko.
This train stops for no-body!
In this episode, James spoils Death Note, Brad brings the feels and breaks down Aunt May's taste in men, and the pair are left heartbroken by a devestating ending.

Music by the excellent Rusty Nails!
A new villain(?) appears in this 29th episode of Swinging Through Spider-Man covering The Amazing Spider-Man #26.
Also, the Green Goblin is back, trying to work his plan to master the underworld. It's not gone well so far.
This podcast also features a missed connection between Fred Foswell and Fancy Dan. You heard it here first.
James and Brad are back to continue their onslaught and destruction of the Spider-Man canon that they frankly don't understand.
Today, the attention turns to issue number 25 of the original Amazing Spider-Man run by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
This issue features the debut of a major player in the Spidey Universe - and that's about it, but there are more hijinks to this than meets the eye!
Spider-Man is gaslit by a new villain in this episode of Swinging Through Spider-Man.
He also shoots his webbing at a wall, and helps J Jonah Jameson LOSE IT.
We end on a not-so-surprising reveal, as the day is also saved by the least suspecting person of all time. Our read through of the Amazing Spider-Man continues!
Also - some links below to explain some of the mental health issues that aren't dealt with at all well by the comic. Oh well, we can fix that!
Get your bag of cans out - and crack them open. The king of Prog Rock and latex is back and he's got some dodgy films to show you, to win you over to his side!

Also, Pete has laundry issues!

Oh, and there's a crazed villain on the run. He's got such a sexy name.
Spidey's stalker is revealed! and boy, it's not a surprise at all as to the identity of his boss!
A new villain also appears after cash is chucked at a morally ambigious project. Pete's life? Could be better. Business as usual

Spidey has a lot to deal with as his rival, The Human Torch is captured by the Sandman, who is working with the Enforcers to defeat Spider-Man. How will Spidey save the day? And can he actually work with the Torch for once? We'll see
You can't give up on what you love, but what if you must give up on what you love, to save who you love? That's the question facing Peter Parker after an outing from hell last time out.
The city revels in the wake that Spidey is a coward, and Spider-Man doubles down on his cowardice during an impromptu skirmish with the Sandman.
Yep - life isn't getting much better for Spidey, and we're bringing you issue 18 of The Amazing Spider-Man, as we read it for the first time.
We've finally escaped from the two-part bondage of the incredible Amazing Spider-Man Annual, which brought us into a battle with the Sinister Six!
Now? We're back reading the original Amazing Spider-Man line of comics- and so is the Green Goblin (back, not reading).
He's been stalking Spidey from the background, but our webbed hero is too busy engaged with other things - namely trying to deal with Flash Thompson and his new Spider-Man fan club.
Oh, and Peter Parker's life genuinely falls apart.
Woah - so you're telling me that four Spider-Man villains tried to stop him and the webhead blew right through them?
Hard to believe, based on what we know - but ok!
And it's the truth, Spider-Man is on a rampage, and with just the Vulture and Doctor Octopus in the way, there's not much left to stop him as he endeavours to rescue his Aunt May, and his girlfriend, Betty Brant.
Still, Doc Ock has a number of things up his sleeve!
Join James and Brad as they tackle the final pages of the Amazing Spider-Man Annual - there are too many impressions of Doctor Octopus to count here...
If you can't beat them, join them.
Well, if you can't beat someone, join a gang and then beat up that someone!
James and Brad are here to break down the first Spider-Man annual, and it's a doozy!

Next week, we'll be back with the Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 and we can't wait. Until then, keep it Swinging.
Also - in the show note links, we have a number of charities that support blind people, or those with partial vision. It's all well and good to make the jokes that we make in this episode, but it needs to have heart. If you're enjoying us - please consider supporting a local charity that helps out those who might just need it! If you can't give, why not educate yourself on what you can do to make someone's life just a little bit easier!
Another episode, another villain! Last time out we met the Green Goblin and this week we are delighted to meet a new big hitter - Kraven The Hunter.

Once more - our music is by the fantastic RUSTY NAILS!
We're back with our journey through The Amazing Spider-Man saga. Fourteen episodes in, we're granted the honour of meeting another Spider-Man big hitter: The Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin is actually very nice (mostly) to our Spidey, and with big money on the line, Spidey puts his life at risk! Hey, do it for that green.
And there's a lot of green on offer in this one, as we also meet The Incredible Hulk - for some reason.
Music by the fantastic RUSTY NAILS!
It's new villain day on the podcast as James and Brad meet Mysterio for the first time!
Who is he? Why is Spider-Man now committing crimes? What's Liz Allen's deal? What's Betty's deal? WHAT IS EVERYONE'S DEAL?!
Pete has a breakdown, Spider-Man gets beat up, Mysterio finds himself the toast of New York City. It's a zany one.
Once again, thank you for all of your support.

Yep - we're still going and we are reading through the twelfth issue of The Amazing Spider-Man.
Spider-Man swings in to deal with his nemesis, but not before his a new enemy encounters him - the flu!
