Nice podcast
These interviews are a treasure trove of american pop music and the people and roads within...unlike many new pod casters bob is thorough, listens well follows up, and asks exactly what I would want to hear ...thank you bob!!!!The biggest surprise is that Bob has a vocal texture of Dr Demento
Ron Stone
Ron Stone was a beautiful conversation
Worst Podcaster Worst Podcast
The voice. The questions. Everything about this show is a zero. Bob sounds like the guy in high school who wants to sit at the cool kids table. I also thought this was a music podcast but then he has Ahmet Zappa on!!!
Terrible voice
Ted McCallister Sr.
Gave it one star cus I couldn’t give it zero.
Just Cut to the Chase already!
As interesting and as amazing as his guests are on this show, I really wish his interviews were more focused on the career of the people he talks to on the show and less on their life story. I feel like his interviews are slow moving and not everybody finds the information about his guest’s personal life and childhood interesting. I really just wish he would cut to the chase and get to the real nitty gritty and the actually fascinating information about his guests in the interviews he does such as the stories behind the songs they made famous and what inspired them to write/record them and the behind the scenes details on the recording sessions of these world renown hit songs and their days on the road touring with other musicians as well and skip over their life story/early beginnings. But I must digress that it’s cool that he’s able to get his guests to open up to him like that and talk about their personal life in such detail with him and I must say not everybody that does podcast interviews can do that with their guests. And maybe I’m the only one who has this opinion and obviously if his listeners dig his style of interviewing I doubt he’ll switch it up and change the focus of his interviews to more of his guest’s career and less on their personal life. Or maybe I’m just impatient and I just need to listen to the full episodes.. but I also don’t like some of his questions in which I think are totally not career focused at all. I just honestly wish he would start his interviews with questions about their career and not on their life story/personal life. But that’s just me. Other people would probably disagree with me on that and like the way he does his interviews and they don’t want him to change a thing about them. And I also wish his episodes were shorter since most people don’t have the time to sit through and hour and a half interview but I’m sure his audience does though and they probably don’t mind the super long length of his episodes.
Interesting info but too many interruptions
I was excited to discover this podcast for the topics covered and I find the guests to be very interesting. However, Bob interrupts their stories way too often and that makes it hard to follow and disjointed. Not for me.
Total junk
This guy advertises deceptively on other podcasts. Utterly annoying.
Interesting stories!
Especially the Jack Douglas episode. Excellent!
Welcome welcome welcome to the most annoying voice on any podcast! Stop running your commercial on other podcasts. Your voice is not meant for radio.
Love it!

The Jack Douglas Show was my first listen. If they’re all that good, I’m in! Incredible stories. Mindblowing stories. Great questions and a sense of when to step in or just let him talk. Only suggestion: a limiter that will smooth out the volume differences between the commercial and the show. It will help with Bob’s on-mic guffaws too! Not criticizing - I laugh the same way! Anyway, carry on!
Stop advertising. Please.
Much like the Ron Burgundy podcast, The horrendously annoying advertising has driven me 100% away from this. Please stop.
Dear lord please stop
Terrible commercials, please stop putting them in my sports talk podcasts
Yay! The podcast is back!!!
Monkey Logic
Best podcast on the inside baseball of the music business. A must for an music fan!

Simply the best

Why is this Podcast still on. No updates. Has gone to paid Sirius. A shame but money rules, unfortunately.

Legendary conversations and stories
These podcasts are magical little gems that constantly inspire and educate me. Many thousands of thank yous to Bob, all of the guests and anyone involved in the production of this invaluable resource. I am so grateful that this exists!
Great Podcasts - Thank you Bob!!
Joe Rosenberg
Bob's Podcasts are as good as his newsletter - both are excellent and fun!!
A must listen for......
......any fan of music and the business side of music. Most of the guests are from the heyday of the business but the discussions are always include the state of the industry today. Bob asks great questions however he interrupts the guests too much. Just let them finish talking before you ask the next question man!
I was late to the party but happy to make it...
I’m 29 and not in the music biz, so I didn’t know who Bob was. I discovered him from an interview with RuPaul on Ru’s What’s the Tea podcast. I was hooked and had to look him up. I know get the legendary letter and have been working on all the back episodes of the podcast. If you’ve ever listened to music, had questions about Spotify or want to know how the Amazon Echo is changing the world, you’ve gotta tune in.
Found by accident and love it!
I was unfamiliar with Bob and stumbled upon this by accident but love the candid open interviews. I feel like I should be chilling with a cocktail while listening. Thanks Bob for the interesting and informative interviews :)
Giles Insights
Long-time reader, first-time listener, first-time writer, moved to review given the rich "experience" and full dynamics between Bob and Giles. Hearing the indepth exchange with humor, history, Dad George, The Beatles (of course), Paul specifically and so much more helped round out so much more for Giles' LOVE vision and diverse career path. Loved It!
It’s the cool kids’ table...
...and I happily kick back, gnaw on the bread ignored in the center, and enjoy.
All Of The Info
Bob Lefsetz has been there, done that, and knows everyone. He has context behind the deals behind the music.
The Best Interviewer Knows his or her subject
Wow - I've been reading your newsletter for years, but your well researched (e.g., knowing Peter Asher's parents background; relative time and place (leading to questions about temporal context), etc.), enthusiastic connection with the guest - both infectious for the listener, but most imporantly, infectious for the guest - you draw out the stories and themes without any effort on either your part or that of the interviewees.
Love it!!
I think if you read the Lefsetz Letter you’ll really enjoy Bob’s podcast. He has a great ability to really dig deep with people and get you their full story. Sometimes you feel like you’re almost getting too much information, but Bob has a great way of tying every detail into the larger picture - something you almost never get in other interviews. It’s like Howard on steroids. In places where Howard would loose track or go off on a tangent and you never get to hear the persons answer to a particular question, Bob seems to always make sure to circle back, which I really like. Listening to how much Bob enjoys doing this makes it (for me) that much more enjoyable, and worth a listen just for that. I love his infectious laughs! I also love how skiing almost always gets talked about! Keep up the good work Bob!!
Excellent story-telling Podcast! Great Job Bob!
Love Bob’s enthusiasm
Im a subscriber I’m a believer
oddly, his voice is missing
Senator Vawter
Bob has a very singular point of view on not just music but life itself over the past 50 years. In this initial podcast that voice is nowhere to be heard. Maybe some things are better in print.
You don’t sound like your letter!
Enjoyed the podcast. Finally get to hear the voice behind the Letter that I love so much. Here’s to the podcast being as successful as the Letter. Keep up all of your great work. You ‘da man!
Bob, I've enjoyed the newsletter but this format is perfect for you. Your energy is infectious... in the best way. JE
Yes! This is great!
I like it!
