In May 1970, William "Junior" Pierce was paroled from the Georgia state prison at Reidsville, despite a report from staff psychiatrists contending that he "may be dangerous to himself and others." The parole board chose to ignore that report, and Pierce claimed his first victim a month later, killing at least nine persons before his arrest, on March 8, 1971. In this episode, Courtney is back with another history-filled case involving a midwife who committed a TON of infanticide. Miyuki Ishikawa was born in 1897 and is believed to have murdered somewhere between 85 and 169 infants with the help of accomplices throughout the 1940s in Tokyo, Japan. Her sentence behind bars was a mere 4 years, which is quite light considering that her death toll is higher than any other serial killer in Japan.*This episode has some Patreon announcements*Subscribe to: The Cult of Domesticity PodcastOur theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams.  You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams)  and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams).

In this episode, Part 2 of the Indianapolis, Indiana episodes, Heather is joined by Justin from Mysterious Circumstances to discuss Howard Arthur Allen. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1949 and is currently sitting in prison, serving his sentence. He was originally sentenced to death on June 11, 1988 but that sentence was later commuted to life in prison. He murdered at least three elderly women (Opal Cooper, 85 / Laverne Hale, 87 / Ernestine Griffin, 73), severely beat another woman, and committed arson on an elderly man’s home. All of his crimes had an underlying factor of burglary. Police suspect that there may be as many as 11 more victims…but have been unable to prove that. This episode is filled with speculation as there isn’t a lot known about his childhood. Additionally, this episode contains touchy subject matter (the death penalty debate) and a glimpse into several other Indiana crimes as well as issues within the justice system in Indiana. You’ve been warned.Subscribe to: Mysterious Circumstances Podcast Our theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams.  You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams)  and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams).

In this episode, Heather is joined by Danielle from Hoosier Homicide to discuss Herbert Baumeister. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1947 and died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in 1996. He was on the run from police who were searching his 18-acre farm for bodies of his victims – of which they found at least 11. Now, it is debated as to whether or not he killed more than 11 and to this day, he is not technically considered a confirmed serial killer as police were never able to prove it AND he killed himself before being apprehended. His victim type was young homosexual men whom he would pick up from gay bars and take to his mansion where he would have sex with them (often using auto erotic asphyxiation to pleasure himself) and then (presumably) kill and dispose of their bodies. In this episode, Heather is joined by the one and only Nicki Tee of the Strictly Homicide Podcast! In this episode, we discuss a serial killer with the same last name as Heather BUT we swear that there is absolutely NO relation! Heather and Nicki discuss the Suffolk Strangler also known as the Ipswich Strangler, Steven Gerald James Wright.  His crimes (that he was convicted of) occurred between October 30 and December 9, 2006.. Steven was convicted of murdering 5 women in the Ipswich District of Sullfolk, England in February of 2009. It was announced on 19 March 2008, that Wright was to appeal his convictions, but on 2 February 2009, it was announced that Wright had decided to drop this appeal case. Steven targeted women sex workers, and although he admitted to having sexual intercourse with all five of them at some point prior to the murders, the victims did not appear to be sexually assaulted during the time of the murder. Stevens motive is still unknown, when questioned about this he seems to answer with “no Comment”. While its never been confirmed, some say that the return of his mother who abandoned her family for her lover 40 years prior, sparked his rage.  We are definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on this case, so please reach out via social media or email!Subscribe to: Strictly Homicide Podcast

Hallow-Series Week 3 Theme - A Family Affair Day 19 - Making a Murderer(s)?Many of you know about the Teresa Halbach disappearance and murder. If that name doesn't quite ring a bell; perhaps the Netflix series "Making a Murderer" will. This family affair was a bit different than what you've heard thus far in this week's series as Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were convicted of murdering, dismembering, and sexually assaulting Teresa in 2005.But what if that's not what happened? What if Steven and Brendan are innocent? What if they were framed? We will be covering this case in depth in the future (as soon as Heather finishes the book) - especially since a lot has come out recently about this case. What are your thoughts? The Hololulu Strangler is responsible for the murders of 5 women between 1985 and 1986. He has yet to be caught. All victims were found with their hands bound behind their backssexually assaulted, strangled, but they varied in age and background (17-36 years old). His victims were Vicki Gail Purdy (25), Regina Sakamoto (17), Denise Hughes (21), Louise Medeiros (25), and Linda Pesce (36). Police thought for sure that they had their guy, but circumstantial evidence wasn't enough to hold him. This suspect ended up moving to California and died in 2005. None of these cases have ever been solved AND after some more digging/investigating for the production of a true crime show last year; there may have been at least one more victim from 1982. Additionally, the police may have had their killer, had DNA testing been an option in 1986.Follow Megan on Instagram - @missmeganlee_Follow Jessie on Instagram - @jessrockettOur theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams. You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams) and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams).Follow us on IG: @naturevsnarcissismFollow us on Twitter: @NvsNpodcastLike us on Facebook: Nature vs NarcissismJoin our discussion group: Nature vs Narcissism Discussion GroupSupport us on Patreon for cool perks and goodies for $1: https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastDonate one time via PayPal: naturevsnarcissism@gmail.com Most of our sources are mentioned in the episode. Today - October 3, 2019 is #JusticeForDJDay.As many of you may already know; I (Heather) co-host another podcast called Status Pending with Scott Fuller. DJ was the inspiration behind the entire podcast Status: Pending.DJ's case has had such an impact on me that I want to spend my 30th birthday today, spreading the word about DJ; will you help me?________________On October 3, 2016, a gun went off and a 911 call was made. Responding officers find DJ shot in the face. He’s deceased. Witnesses claim someone else in the home - a one-time romantic interest of his wife Brandy’s - shot and killed DJ. Some say accidentally, some say intentionally.Members of DJ’s family can’t believe that DJ would kill himself, and some sheriff’s detectives don’t buy the suicide. But the state’s crime lab and a medical examiner disagree. And so nobody has ever been charged with the death of Donald Edward Fickey, Jr.Since we released the case on Status: Pending, Amanda (DJ's sister) has been tirelessly working to ensure that the GBI looks into her brother's case. She has reached out to tons of podcasters as well as YouTubers and even folks with the Investigation Discovery Channel to share her brother's story.____________You can sign the petition to help bring this case in front of a grand jury! This is an important step to get Justice for DJ! You can visit change.org and search for “help support justice for dj…” and the petition will populate. Your signature can help! As of today, there are 23,080 of the 25,000 goal: https://www.change.org/p/help-us-in-getting-justice-for-dj-and-his-3-babies-justicefordj (petition). **Small disclaimer - I tried to make a water sound in the intro...didn’t work out the best - oops! Oh well, it’s only a few seconds long!**In this episode, Heather is joined again by the one and only Scott Fuller to discuss a serial killer from the Green River, Washington area. This is a killer that Heather has NEVER looked up until now. Not too sure why, other than the fact that she felt as though he was way overdone in the True Crime genre and perhaps not too fascinating. However, Scott has a way of providing information and details that will pull someone in and that’s exactly what he did here!Gary Leon Ridgway was born on February 18, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is responsible for at least 49 murders of teenage runaways and female sex workers from 1982 until 2001 – most of these murders occurring between 1982 and 1984 though. Gary aka “The Green River Killer” has confessed to at least 71 murders but said that there very well could be more but he lost count. He is currently sitting in a cell at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla and serving 48 life sentences plus 480 years.Guest Host: @FullerOnAir - follow him on TwitterCheck out Scott’s other projects too: Frozen Truth Podcast, Status Pending, Dead & Gone in WyomingOur theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams. Heather and Rachelle have been referencing the Bill O’Reilly quote “We’ll do it live! Fuck it!” ever since Rachelle busted out this line in one of the episodes! Needless to say, it’s been an ever-present and lingering title for a future episode. Scott has jumped in and interviewed Heather about Nature vs Narcissism in this episode; LIVE (okay, kind of…)! Heather was NOT prepared for the way this episode happened and had NO CLUE what Scott was about to ask. Anyone who knows Heather, knows that she is very uncomfortable without a plan BUT she did pretty well…PLUS it was a blast! This is a really fun episode, with TONS of shout outs!

In this episode, Heather is joined by the one and only Scott Fuller to discuss a serial killer from Frankford, Philadelphia. He is known as the Frankford Slasher and is believed to have killed 8-9 people between the years of 1985 and 1990. Leonard Christopher was apprehended for the murder of 46-year-old Carol Dowd in 1990 and police pegged him as the slasher. However, they were unable to confirm that he was indeed the slasher as he was behind bars when another victim was killed. Another man who was questioned in the cases, disappeared later. That man AND Christopher Leonard have both since passed away. Now, in 2019, city investigators are looking at new DNA evidence. In this episode, Heather is joined by Brittany to discuss a serial killer/serial stabber from her home state of Michigan! He committed most of his murders in Flint, MI but also stabbed multiple victims in multiple other states. Elias Abuelazam is an Israeli convicted murderer who is also known as the “Flint Serial Killer” and “The Serial Slasher”. It is believed that he had a total of 5 murder victims and upwards of 18 stabbing victims, who luckily made it out alive. His murders are said to have occurred between March od 2009 and August of 2010. He was eventually apprehended in August of 2010 after trying to flee back to Israel from Atlanta, GA. He was sentenced to like imprisonment without the possibility of parole in Michigan on June 25, 2012, but he maintained his innocence and had an interesting defense argument at trial. _______________________________________________________ Guest Host: @brittschultz09 - follow her on Twitter Promo: True Crime Deadline __________________________________________________ Our theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams.  You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams) and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams). In this episode, Heather and Rachelle discuss another female serial killer! Her nickname was La Luchadora...which means “the fighter”.  Why, you ask? Well, in Mexico, professional wrestling is a popular form of entertainment.  But it’s a bit different than one might expect by the name...in Mexico, professional wrestling aka Lucha Libre has a certain sense of pageantry.  Luchadores (aka wrestlers), often wear colorful masks as they perform different acrobatic leaps off the ropes to grapple with their opponents. But Juana Barraza had a more sinister side to her. She lived somewhat of a double life.  Her day consisted of working as a popcorn vendor and sometimes a luchadora at a wrestling venue in Mexico City.  She was described as being stocky and strong. Barraza took to the ring as The Lady of Silence as she competed in the amateur circuit.  By night, she was a completely different person - known as Mataviejitas, or “little old lady killer.” She may have killed up to 50 woman who were all over the age of 60! She is serving a sentence of 759 years in a Mexican prison…where she is actually living a decent life; to hear her tell it! In this episode, Heather is joined by her sister Kim again; to discuss a killer from Eugene, Oregon who is STILL UNIDENTIFIED. With the new technology being used today (Parabon Nano Labs); police in Oregon have been able to link three cold case homicides to the same unknown suspect. What we do know is that the suspect is a MALE. The three victims are 62-year-old Gladys May Hensley (murdered in June of 1986), 33-year-old Janice Marie Dickinson (murdered in June of 1986), and 73-year-old Geraline Spencer Toohey (murdered in February of 1988). In this episode, you’ll learn what Parabon Nano Labs is doing to help solve cold cases and what Snapshot Phenotyping is. In this episode, Heather and Rachelle travel to Dakota Country/Dakota Territory, WY; way back in 1868, to discuss a woman who may or may not have been the murderer of at least 22 men.  This case is different from previous episodes as we aren’t 100% sure whether or not the details are based on factual information. Even though we found a decent amount of information, there is debate about the accuracy of the events. If true though, this B**** was manipulative and had her daddy wrapped so far around her finger that he worked with her in robbing and disposing of the bodies.

In this episode, Heather is joined by her sister Kim to discuss a killer from Detroit, Michigan who had “slipped through the cracks”.  65-year-old James Matthews is a suspect in two homicides in Michigan, three in Texas, and one in New York.  He was being held in jail for allegedly strangling a 35-year-old woman.  Since no charges were filed within the required 72 hours, he was released from jail.  About four months later, police had enough evidence to move forward with a murder warrant.  As you’ll hear in the episode, apparently the police “flubbed” this case.     Stay tuned at the end for an outtake!Follow Kim on Instagram: @kimmrueFollow Kim’s Art page on Instagram: @upfromthegroundwatercolor Subscribe to Cult of Domesticity Podcast Our theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams.  You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams)  and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams). In this episode, Heather is joined by Scott from Frozen Truth Podcast to discuss a man who admits that he is attracted to young girls, has been arrested for raping young girls, and buried a 13-year old girl in 1986 but swears that he’s never killed anyone.  We’ve labeled this as the Canton, MI episode as that is where a couple of his potential victims were from.  Police have even stated that he may be linked to four to six murders of girls who range in age from 12 to 17 who disappeared between 1970 and 1982.  In this episode, you will hear from Ream, in his own words, about the day 13-year-old Cindy Zarzycki went missing in 1986.  He gives a chilling account about what transpired and why the police weren’t called that day.  We would love to hear your thoughts on this case.  Is he telling the truth?  Is he a serial killer?Subscribe to Frozen Truth PodcastSubscribe to Bad In The Boondocks PodcastPurchase your live show tickets to see Getting Off Podcast& Ignorance Was Bliss Podcastlive in Chicago:BUY YOUR TICKET!  Our theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams.  You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams)  and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams). In this episode, Heather is joined by Courtney from The Cult of Domesticity Podcastto discuss a local monster!  We head to Cleveland, Ohio to discuss Ariel Castro AND his survivors.  Castro was born in Puerto Rico but moved to Cleveland, Ohio with his family as a child.  He bought a house on Seymour Avenue…that he later turned into what can only be described as a “House of Horrors”.  He kidnapped three young women and held them captive in his home for over 10 years.  He beat them, starved them, wouldn’t allow them to leave the house, and even raped them on a regular basis.  One of his victims suffered at least 5 abortions at his hands while another was forced to have his baby.  Michelle Knight was 21 when he abducted her in 2002, Amanda Berry was 16 when he abducted her in 2003, and Georgina DeJesus was just 14 when he abducted her in 2004. After their escape in 2013, Castro was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 1,000 years. He committed suicide in his cell just a little over a month after he was sentenced.  All three women are alive and doing their best to help other families of missing and exploited children.Subscribe to The Cult of Domesticity Podcast Our theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams.  You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams)  and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams). In this episode, Heather and Rachelle head to Boulder, Colorado to discuss Scott Lee Kimball.. Boulder County native Scott Kimball was known as a career criminal and conman whom had an uncanny ability to convince people to give him the benefit of the doubt. In fact, he was so charming, that he was able to convince the FBI…the fucking FBI to release him from prison on December 18, 2002 so that he could become a PAID informant for them!  He was known as “Hannibal” or “Joe Snitch” and took the lives of at least 4 people…including his own uncle.  He is serving a sentence of 70 years after pleading guilty in 2009 to two counts of second degree murder; one for his uncle and another for Kaysi McLeod, Jennifer Marcum, and LeAnn Emry. In this episode, Heather is joined by a return guest and her father; Heath Pendergrass to discuss Joseph Roy Metheny.  Metheny admitted to killing 10 people but evidence was found to indict him on just two murders; Cathy Ann Magaziner (45 years old) and Toni Lynn Ingrassia (28 years old).  Metheny was convicted on numerous other charges such as kidnapping, attempted rape, and attempted murder of two other victims.  One of his victims (Kimberly Lynn Spicer) was able to escape and notify police which lead to his arrest.  His death penalty was overturned in 2000; in turn placing him in prison on a life sentence…until his death in 2017 when he was found in his cell. In this episode, Heather and Chris from Killer Jobs podcast & Exploiting Vicki Tims podcast discuss Katherine Knight - the woman who ate her boyfriend.  She was the first Australian woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.  She was convicted for the murder of her boyfriend in 2001 after she stabbed him to death, skinned him, and then hung his skin from a meat hook in the living room.  She then cooked his head and other body parts and made a plate for each of his two adult children.  Katherine is currently serving her sentence at Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre in New South Wales. Our theme music was created and customized by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreams.  You can follow him on IG (@wetalkofdreams)  and Twitter (@WeTalkofDreams).  Follow us on IG: @naturevsnarcissismFollow us on Twitter: @NvsNpodcastLike us on Facebook: @naturevsnarcissismJoin our discussion group: nature vs narcissism discussion group Support us on Patreon for cool perks and goodies for $1: https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastDonate one time via PayPal: naturevsnarcissism@gmail.com. This is part 2 of Season 2; Episode 1 where we are traveling to Anchorage, AK to discuss the 2nd serial killer. In this episode, Heather is joined by Danielle from the Hoosier Homicide podcast  to discuss Israel Keyes.  Israel committed his murders in several states including New York, Washington, Vermont, and of course Alaska. He claimed the lives of 3 confirmed but most likely 11+ victims.  He was apprehended in March of 2012 and enjoyed toying with police.  After 40+ hours of interrogations, Keyes decided to slit his wrists and hang himself in his prison cell.  He died at the age of 34 in December of 2012. WE ARE BACK FOR SEASON 2!We are traveling to Anchorage, AK and since we found 2 serial killers that we wanted to discuss, this will be part 1 of 2.  In this episode, Heather and Rachelle discuss Robert Christian Hansen (aka the Butcher Baker) - the guy who took "The Most Dangerous Game" and turned it into his hobby.  Robert committed his murders from 1971-1983 and claimed the lives of 17-21+ victims.  He was convicted in 1984 for multiple crimes including arson, assault, kidnapping, weapons offense theft, insurance fraud, murder, and rape.  He was sentenced to 461 years in prison.  He died at Spring Creek Correctional Center (Seward, Alaska) in August of 2014. In this episode, Heather and Rachelle discuss two crime/murder stories that occurred on turkey day.  In one story, you'll hear about a sister who uses the carving fork as a weapon!  In the second story, you'll hear about a man who just didn't want his wife's family in his house.  Unfortunately, the second one ends in murder - you've been warned.  RIP to the victims and may YOUR Thanksgiving end in full stomachs and laughter with family/friends!

THIS IS THE CORRECT AUDIO FILE.  Sorry about that!!I am releasing this episode to the main feed to see what you guys think about the Split Second series.  This is a series that I've started on Patreon and I would like to continue it as I have 3 episodes ready to be edited and posted.  I am thinking about changing the Patreon tiers so that more listeners can benefit from the extra content, prize giveaways, and no ads.  Please let me know what you think of this episode!THANK YOU SO MUCH, Scott of the Frozen Truth & Status Pending Podcasts for the intro and editing! As you may recall, I posted briefly on Instagram via the Whack-job Wednesday series about this guy a few months ago.  This case intrigued me as it was so close to home and everything changed in a split second.  I have always loved the outdoors and especially bike riding...so seeing that this is exactly how 20-year-old Sierah Joughin lost her life; my heart broke and my stomach knotted up.  Listen to this episode and let me know what you think about the twists and turns this case has.  You may be hearing another case in the near future that could potentially be linked.

Did you know that in Indiana (where this case takes place) under extreme circumstances, children as young as 10 years old can be tried and sentenced in adult courts?  The child that we will be discussing in this case remains one of the youngest EVER to be tried in this fashion.  In this collaboration, Heather and Warbaby (from the Murderous Minors: Killer Kids podcast) discuss Paul Henry Gingerich and Colt Lundy.  On April 20, 2010, Indiana; 12-year-old Gingerich and Lundy were at Colt's home in Cromwell, Indiana (which is about 2.5 hours NE of Indianapolis or 1 hour NW of Fort Wayne) with Colt's 49-year-old stepfather, Phillip Danner.  They decided that they wanted to steal Danner’s truck and drive to Arizona.  They determined that the only way to get away with it was to “take care of him [Phillip]”. How would they do this?  They shot him…with his own hand guns. In this collaboration, Heather and Lisa (from the Eye for an Eye podcast) discuss the tragic death of 16-year-old Cincinnatian, Kyle Plush.  He was reaching for a tennis racket that was located behind the seat in the back of his van when the seat collapsed, folding shut on the teen as he dialed 911 for help.  This story is so tragic because it seems as though he did everything in his power to get help to no avail.  He was discovered dead 6 hours later, in his vehicle, in the parking lot of his school. There was one positive outcome from this horrible tragedy though; check out www.kyleplushanswerthecall.org to see what the family is doing in his honor to create a safer community.  Promo for: Killer JobsPromo for: Swindled Support us & get cool stuff!https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastFind us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/

In Part 2 of this episode, Heather and Kate (from the Ignorance Was Bliss podcast) discuss the consequences of Gypsy’s actions. Additionally, we hear about the interview that Gypsy’s stepmother, Kristy, had regarding information not released in the documentary.  Again, I discuss this documentary and my reactions to it on the patreon feed for Status Pending with my cohost Scott Fuller.  Gypsy’s boyfriend killed her mother (Dee Dee) after Gypsy suffered years of neglect and abuse at the hands of Dee Dee.  She and her boyfriend were both arrested and placed in jail for their involvement.  Keep your eyes and ears open for a potential follow-up episode with Kristy.   Promo for: Something's Not Right PodcastCheck out Status Pending Podcast Support us & get cool stuff!https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastFind us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/

In Part 1 of this episode, Heather and Kate (from the Ignorance Was Bliss podcast) have teamed up again to bring you another in-depth collaboration!  In this 2-parter, we discuss Munchausen by Proxy and the effects that it has on the child as well as those around the diagnosed individual.  Although rare, MBP is a real diagnosis that often times turns deadly.  One of the most severe cases ever reported was the case of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard.  We pulled a lot of the information from the documentary “Mommy Dead and Dearest” which I cover on the patreon feed for Status Pending with my cohost Scott Fuller. Melissa (from JustTheTipsterspodcast) & Tanya from every true crime group ever come to Cincinnati, Ohio to hang out with Heather for the weekend! Melissa currently resides in California and Tanya resides in Canada...so, yeah...they're basically the most awesome people ever! Granted, Melissa was going to KY to spend time with friends and family...but that's neither here nor there...she still loves Heather!  In this bonus episode, we just chat garbage people topics whilst making fun of one another. We learn about Shirley and Dennis as well as Otis from the highway. Furthermore, we play a little game of "Last Words, Last Desserts" where Heather quizzes Melissa and Tanya to see if they can determine the killer behind the 'final words' quotes and final meals.  Promos for: KillaforniaDreamingPodcast DarkPoutinePodcast Follow Tanya on Instagram - @tanya.espanyaFollow Melissa on Twitter - @JTTipsters Support us & get cool stuff!https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastFind us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/

In this special collaboration episode, Heather teams up with Augie Peterson from the Short Stories of Augie Peterson podcast!  In part 1; you will hear about the case of Elizabeth Short, aka the "Black Dahlia".  This is found on the Nature vs Narcissism feed - well, would you look at that...you're already here!  In part 2; you will hear about the movie adaptation of the case...which apparently had nothing to do with the actual life and murder of Elizabeth Short.  In enough words...this movie was absolutely terrible and Augie has the review to back that up!  So, if you need a nice pallet cleanser after hearing about the absolute brutality of this case, then head on over to the Short Stories of Augie Peterson feed! Nicknamed "the Black Dahlia," Elizabeth Short was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 29, 1924. Twenty-two years later, Short, an aspiring actress, was brutally murdered in Los Angeles, California, her body cut in half and severely mutilated. Her body was found on January 15, 1947, in a vacant lot near Leimert Park. The Black Dahlia's killer was never found, making her murder one of the oldest cold case files in L.A. to date, as well as the city's most famous. When Heather Saul opened her Charleston, WV door to greet the stranger she’d agreed to meet through an escort ad she had placed, she knew instantly she was in mortal danger.  The man said just three words – “Live or die” – then held a gun to her stomach. The man grabbed Saul by the throat and dragged her around the house, until in a rush of pure adrenaline and an effort for self-preservation, she was able to get control of his gun and shot once, killing him. In this special collaboration episode, Heather sits down with Moxie from the Your Brain on Facts podcast to discuss serial killer Neal Falls.  Heather was an escort and Falls’ next intended victim.  That is, until she killed him instead…potentially saving dozens more. Falls is believed to have killed across 8 states and traveled with his kill kit in his car.  He would dismember the bodies and dump them in rivers as well as on the side of the highway. This episode is filled with shenanigans as dad and Ashley return for more crime & more stories.  We recorded in the dining room as per the usual but we didn't wear headphones.  At times, we couldn't tell how loud we were, so I tried adjusting and taking out the table bumps.  After about halfway through, dad realized the error of his ways and backed away from the table.  That didn't stop him, however, from texting during the entire "broadcast" - so you'll hear his phone in the background.  We talk about everything from dad's experience at the police department, to our childhoods, to current crimes in the news, to theories about cases and crimes.  This was a fun episode with a ton of shout outs!  Dad wants to come back for future episodes but would like questions or case suggestions...so, send them in!Shout outs:Based on a True CrimeGetting OffOff The CuffsThe Brothers CommonplaceStatus: PendingPromo:Trace Evidence Support us & get cool stuff!https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastFind us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/

This is part 3 of 3 with Amanda; our Canadian friend! This episode is pretty heavy in the sense that there are a lot of tough topics discussed.  Please note: we tried to add some dark humor to make it easier to discuss but it was pretty rough.  You’ve been warned.  In this episode we discuss Brucie’s victims, Brucie’s arrest and current charges, asylum seekers and deportation, back to the dating sites that Bruce used, Status Pending Podcast, trauma that Bruce endured, nature vs nurture, theories as to why serial killers starting sprouting/coming to light in the 70’s, structure and the way people were expected to live in the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s, conversion and electroshock therapy for homosexuals, molestation, insulin nurse (Canada), angel of death (Ohio), homicide rates in Ohio vs Canada, VICAP, and Cincy Beerfest.  Each episode contains crimes as well as laws and differences between Canada and Ohio or the United States.  Additionally, each episode contains shout outs and an upcoming event! In the FINAL letter episode of Season 1, Heather and Rachelle discuss the Zebra Murders aka The Zebra Killings.  The best way to describe them is via a direct quote that we found here: https://blog.sfgate.com/crime/2013/03/13/zebra-killer-denied-parole/.  The Zebra Killings were “execution-style shootings that killed 14 people and wounded eight others between October 1973 and April 1974, mostly at night along the city’s Divisadero Street corridor. The gunmen were African American and the victims were mostly white. The killings got the Zebra label from police use of a special radio band, the Z channel, in their investigation.” (pulled quote from *PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS (like most others) A GRUESOME CASE WHICH INVOLVES TRIGGER WARNINGS* Although we are wrapping up Season 1, that doesn’t mean that we are done!  We will have several guests appearing on the show between Season 1 and Season 2.  Season 2 will still be alphabetical BUT we will be covering killers (not necessarily serial killers) from everywhere.  We will choose them based on where they’re from.  For instance, the Zebra Killings took place in San Fransisco, California so we would cover them for our “S” episode.  If YOU have a suggestion, send it to us!  We want to cover lesser known killers this season! In this episode, Heather and Rachelle discuss Robert Lee Yates.  Yates murdered at least 13 people (12 women and 1 man) but it is suspected that he murdered many more.  One of the most confusing things about his motive/drive/whatever you want to call it; is the fact that he was mad at prostitutes (women that he killed) for selling their bodies as he grew up very religious and it was against his religion, yet he would participate in the selling of their bodies…he was the ‘John’. One of the best things about this case? The dumbass was eventually put on death row and resides at the very prison that he worked in back in 1970. Sucks to suck!  Awesome tidbit about this episode?  Nick Gansner from the Getting Off podcast read the statement that Robert Lee Yates gave to the jury during his trial.  Thank you so much, Nick!  Promo:The Murder in my Family Support us & get cool stuff!https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastFind us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/Email me for sources.
