On this edition of Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell, RJ and the guys discuss a variety of sports from the NBA to the XFL. RJ discusses why the Raptors over-achieving year would be even better with his hypothetical scenario of Kawhi still playing in Toronto, and why they would be the odds on favorite in the eyes of Vegas; even over a Kawhi-led Clippers team. Plus, the guys talk about the Thunder over-achieving as well, citing Chris Paul having a better season than his trade counterpart in Russell Westbrook, and the Thunder are the best team against the spread this season. RJ also talks about Zion setting records, the latest on the Myles Garrett brawl, why Joe Burrow is a lock at #1 in the draft and the best bets of NBA all-star weekend and week 2 of the XFL. Today on Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell, RJ and Jonas discuss the Lakers success at the All Star break may cost them in the end, RJ gives Steve Fezziks power rankings and the odds of each team winning a title, Brady being the best option for the Patriots, plus his odds to play elsewhere, and why the Lions trading Matt Stafford would actually cost them money. RJ says the Lakers playing this hard for the entire season will take a toll on their body in the end going through the western conference, and the Clippers load management will likely pay off for them, just as it did for the 2010 Doc Rivers coached Celtics team according to Jonas Knox.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers

Today on Straight Outta Vegas, RJ Bell and the guys discuss Zions big night, the 76ers win over the Clippers last night, Rockets small being effective again and the latest on the MLB rule changes. RJ says the pinnacle of Zion Williamson's optimism was last night, and the Pelicans odds of reaching the playoffs have actually decreased since he joined the team. RJ thinks the Rockets may not put together big win streaks in the regular season but if they face the right team and get hot at the right time, they can make a serious run with their small ball approach. Plus, Steve Fezzik says the win last night was borderline meaningless for the 76ers because they’re 25-2 at home and have yet to prove they can be hit with adversity on the road and pull out a win. RJ agrees with him when looking at the numbers. RJ says they’re 9-19 on the road, and when you look at the average Vegas spread it is pick em, meaning they should’ve won half of them. The guys also discuss the new MLB rule of pitchers needing to face at least 3 batters and think it is bad for baseball.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers

Today on Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell, RJ and the guys discuss the Rockets small ball moves resulting in a big win against the Lakers Thursday night. Steve Fezzik says he is down on the Lakers right now given the rockets played such small ball, RJ disagrees with Fezzik because of Anthony Davis getting hitting his overs in rebounds and points last night. RJ said his instinct says the rockets shouldn’t win another game, but somehow this is a choice by a top GM in the NBA with Daryl Morey that may work. RJ also says the Rockets are 5-0 without Capela are 5-0 this season, including +14 point against the spread, on average of those 5 games. The guys also discuss the Lakers being title favorites following the NBA trade deadline at +275, followed closely by the Bucks at +290. Also, RJ says even though the odds are the same as the Bucks, the Bucks path is so much easier, so Vegas are implying that the Lakers are significantly better. The guys cap it off looking ahead at the first weekend of the XFL, with Steve giving his best bets and what else to expect. Today on Straight Outta Vegas, RJ Bell and Brad Powers discuss the NBA trade deadline impacting NBA title odds. The guys discuss Miami adding Memphis F Andre Iguodala, saying before the Heat added Iguodala via trade, they were 30-1 to win the NBA title, but now their odds are 18-1; to give some perspective, the 76ers have 30-1 odds to win it all. Brad and RJ say it is important to realize this because they both play in the eastern conference and are vying for position in the east. RJ says if the Heat didn't make any moves and the 76ers did, then the roles may have been reversed and the 76ers may have increased their odds. Plus, the guys discuss the impact of the other trades, including Marcus Morris joining the Los Angeles Clippers. Brad says it is a huge addition because of Morris' efficiency being so high, while RJ says he agrees with his efficiency, why weren't the Knicks better? The guys also discuss the lost position of Center after Andre Drummond was traded to the Cavaliers for 2 bench players with expiring contracts. Today on Straight Outta Vegas, RJ Bell and the guys discuss Antonio Brown, Draft Kings law suit and early Super Bowl 54 trends teaching us lessons. RJ says the second Antonio Brown isn’t contributing in the NFL in a positive way and keeps getting in trouble, society is very quick to shun him as one of their own, and Brown may be dealing with some serious issues. Plus, RJ discusses a lawsuit filed by against Draft Kings because a bettor felt they were cheated with the MLB not doing enough to investigate the sign stealing scandal, ultimately losing him money. Plus, RJ and the crew talk about the Chiefs being early Super Bowl 54 favorites at -1. RJ says the line will continue to move towards Kansas City and thought it would finish at -1.5 by end of today. Plus, RJ compares understanding lines to movies and books, saying pinnacle books and movies are like betting sites. RJ says if you look at pinnacle books and movies compared to average books and movies, you understand the difference and why they trend where they do. Plus, Steve Fezzik says if you just looked at the pinny lean in Vegas, and want to bet Kansas City at -1 on Pinnacle, you’re paying more than almost every other book in the world, and the 49ers are the best deal with how cheap they are on Pinnacle right now. RJ explains further, saying there’s a lean from Pinnacle wanting to attract action on the 49ers and discourage action against the Chiefs. Furthermore, RJ says he will likely want to go where the sharp books are not because they do not want Kansas City and this can be an indicator where the line is going.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers

On today’s edition of Straight Outta Vegas, RJ Bell and the guys discuss the firing of John Dorsey and how the Browns are a millennial team in need of a hard nosed coach. Plus, RJ and Brad discuss the return of Texans DT JJ Watt. Brad Powers say the betting market has no reaction to Watt being activated for Saturday’s wild card game against the Bills. RJ goes on to say it could mean 1 of 2 things: Vegas assumed JJ Watt was going to play, or they don’t believe Watt is as impact as he once was when he was in the MVP discussion. RJ also says the line seems short at Houston -2.5, but with home field advantage automatically giving you 3 points, Vegas believe the Bills are a better team. RJ and Brad disagree with Vegas, but Jonas says he is not that surprised, citing the Bills have been better down the stretch. Also, Fezzik gives his best bet for the New Years bowl games, including taking the over on the Alabama-Michigan game due to Alabama's defense being unmotivated and the offensive fire power.
