We discuss how to overcome and be aware of mindset challenges that creative business owners usually face. We talk about effective ways to brand, market, price and scale your business so you can reach more clients, make more money and work less. And there is so much to share with you!

Be gentle with yourself and those around you. Learn to lower your expectations. We are all trying to learn, adjust, and do the best we can during this time!
Who is the first one in their family to do something, a pioneer? I want to take a few minutes to encourage you and let you know you are not alone. Being the first can be hard. We probably all have some area where we are the first in our family to do something new. But the rewards are so worth it. The generational change and blessings will be felt for longer than you can imagine. So do the thing, start the biz, finish college, stay married...break the pattern for you and all those who will come after you!
Hey Friends! For today's podcast, I wanted to shake it up a little bit by sharing a chapter from my book, Fear Is Not the Boss of You. In this chapter, I really hit home that people are ALWAYS watching you. We all learn so much by watching how people handle things, react to situations, and use their gifts and talents. Your gifts could be someone else's blessing. Your power and strength could help raise someone up that might be falling apart right now!
I am weary. There, I said it. Now, for the most part, I am totally okay, and I know that everything will be okay. I am just weary. The last several months are taking a toll. I am internally conflicted about many things. I am sad by circumstances. So, I want to share 3 things that have helped me in the last week as I walk through this weary season. I hope they bring you some peace and comfort. And if you are feeling weary too, I want you to know you are not alone, and I hope this helps lessen your weariness.
This is my third podcast episode about having a business coach. Why? Because it is so stinkin' crucial to your success! Today I want to focus on the difference between a business coach and a consultant. Although both sound similar, there is a clear difference. In this episode, I want to help clear up that difference and help you decide which is better for you. AND if you are ready for coaching, I want you to go to creatorsinnercircle.com and get on the waitlist for my coaching group that is opening soon!!
I want to take a few minutes today to help you reframe your shame. First, you need to know there is a difference e between shame and guilt. Shame is used by the enemy to keep you stuck...to keep you from moving forward. Many of you are feeling all kinds of shame for things they did or didn't do during quarantine. I hope you can take that shame and reframe it in a way that gives it purpose and allows you to find freedom to move on!
In today's podcast, we are talking with Paula Faris about how she left her 2 amazing dream jobs to be obedient to God. She had to learn it's ok to love what you do, but how to not let that define you. What we do shouldn't define who we are. We are worth so much more than what we do, our value comes from more than our vocation. Paula is here to tell us all about finding our calling, how it gives us purpose, and separating that from our vocation.
If you have been around for a hot minute, you know I am big on pivoting when God tells you to. I have several podcast episodes around the idea of pivoting and in today's climate, it can be extremely necessary to stay in business. Today I want to encourage you and give you a picture of pivoting God shared with me. I also want to caution you against not pivoting and being at the risk of being plucked. BTW, being plucked it not usually pleasant!
Today I want to share the biz tools I am loving lately. These are things that let me work smarter, not harder! The biz world has so many companies creating things to help with the online space that it can be overwhelming. I want to unwhelm you and give you the inside scoop on what helps me get work done so I can spend more time on the true priorities of my life. Also, head on over to my YouTube channel if you want to see for yourself some of the tools I'm discussing.
This week I was thinking of ways we measurement different things and I really focused on some of the ways we measure Christlike behavior. The Lord really spoke to me about repentance and obedience. You may feel like you don’t know what to do right now. You are overwhelmed with all you see and hear on social media and the news. I want to encourage you to start by looking at your life and relationship. Where do you need to repent and where do you need to be obedient. Listen in as we start there.
If there ever was a time to have an online event, it's right now! The world is a bit chaotic and most states still have limits for gathering sizes, but people are wanting and needing to find a connection with others. Use this time to try something like an online event to engage with your audience in a new way. In today's podcast, I am giving you 3 tips for you to think about when you have an event online. Don't let it be scary! It could be one of the best things for your business and your audience.
Lately, God has been using the messy times in the history of my marriage to remind and teach me what I need to be doing in the midst of all that is going on. Jason and I have never come out of hard times without a lot of hard conversation and without gaining the other partner's perspective. But when we have done those things, we always come out better. This feels similar to our nation’s struggles. My prayer is that we are all doing the hard work right now so that our country will come out stronger.
In today's podcast, I chat with Cathy Heller about how she grew her multi-million dollar, successful business. She had a dream of songwriting and moved to LA. After getting dropped from her label, she needed to pivot. In her new book Don't Keep Your Day Job, she can help you so the same thing. She is passionate about helping people find the path to where they will shine and thrive. It's so easy to fall in love with Cathy's message because it takes us all to a place where we think about what we really want
I want to talk about the value of retreating and reading. Retreating can have a negative connotation, but it really can have soooooo much value! When you retreat you are able to find a new perspective and reset many things. This is has been a time of retreating for many of us. What does it mean? What will it change for our future? What have we learned?
You don't know what you don't know! But I am here to help. With world events changing the way we are now doing business, many more people are working in the online space. Whether you've been working in the online space for a while or you've had to make a recent pivot, I want to give you some groundwork for success. Here are some things I wish I had known when I started in the online space. I hope they are helpful to you and your biz!
Timing is everything. Even more so during this pandemic. Today I want to talk about God’s timing. It seems to me that God’s timing never matches my own. Anyone else? But what I have found to be true is that God’s holy interruptions and timing that I always think is late turns out to be perfect. The problem is usually us. We are the ones that are impatient and not really ready. Let’s unpack this more…
Building an email list can be so powerful for your business. Emailing is a great way to engage with your customers and build the know/like/trust factor that is so critical. I don't want you to let your fear hold you back. Start consistently sending a weekly email! It's all about great content and developing a relationship, and it doesn't have to be "salesy". To help get you on your way, I sat down with Tarzan Kay, Email Copy Queen, to talk about some of her best tips and tricks!
I know Mother's Day was last week, but today I wanted to talk about the importance of mothers modeling courage to their children. We outsource a lot of teaching—Spanish, horseback riding, and driving are all things I am happy for someone else to teach my kids. BUT teaching courage and showing your kids how to be brave is something we should be doing as moms. Listen is as we talk about not using our kids as an excuse, but instead, as our motivation!
In today's podcast, I am talking with the legend, Michael Hyatt, about his new book The Vision Driven Leader. Having clarity in your vision is important whether you have a large business, small business, and even for your family! Michael says it perfectly when he said, "Clarity accelerates progress toward the outcome you want." I hope you enjoy this podcast and can use these tools to help grow your business and your leadership skills.
This week I want to break down one of my favorite chapters in my book...chapter 6 all about courage. Confidence sells and confidence is what people think is the key. But I am here to tell you that what you really need is courage. Courage is what will help you take action and get you started. There is no need to rely on yourself and wait for confidence. You may be waiting for a long time. Instead, look to Jesus for courage! Dig deep this week. Have the guts to do the thing without waiting for confidence!
With the world in such disarray, so many people are shifting the ways they learn, sell, teach, create, communicate, etc. This makes it the perfect time to start something new especially if you're the type of person that needs a fallback or excuse! Right now if you have a hiccup, blame corona. It may be hard to start because you can be so easily discouraged by the success of others In this podcast, I have 3 helpful tips for when you feel discouraged when you begin something new. You got this!
I had a comment in my DMs this past week telling me what I "should" and "should not" be doing as a business owner right. While I want to extend grace to and think the best of the commenter, I also want to take a few minutes and talk about this. I want to encourage us all to offer grace and understanding for how people are navigating these times. I also want to remind us all that we need to continually be looking to God and His word to tell us what we "should'" be doing.
2020 will forever be the year of pivoting! Many businesses are making big changes during these COVID-19 times, but change happens all the time and it doesn't have to be scary. Sometimes we have a huge passion for one thing and create a business and then go into another season and need to make a change. Whether you are having to make a shift because of the current pandemic or because God has planted a new direction in your heart, I encourage you to frame it in a positive way!
As we go into yet another week of this pandemic, I see that fear is really increasing. When will we return to normal? Will it really be "normal" again? What will happen to my business? I want to pass along some encouragement today by giving you 2 things you can do to combat this creeping fear in. Let's take some action by focusing on what we can control in these seemingly out-of-control times.
If you want to read more about these strategies, check out my book Fear Is Not the Boss of You!
Using the online space for business isn't just for adults. Teens can benefit greatly by using their passion to create and grow a business. Kids now are being raised in this tech-savvy world that makes it second nature to use for it for business. Almost a year and a half ago my boys started a fun shoe flipping project that has turned into a legit, growing business. Today we talked about how teens can become their own boss, creating a business that works for them. Do you have a kidpreneur in your home?
I am seeing on social media lately what I am calling productivity shaming. There are those that are saying everyone needs to use this "gift" of time to be doing something big like losing weight or cleaning out your whole house. I have been reminded that God does not have all of us in the same season. Some of us are in a season of rest while others are in a season of running! We need to honor God by honoring the season He has us in.
Some of you LOVE your free Facebook group and are doing amazing with it and I am so happy for you. For those that hate it, it's ok to let it go!!! I'll say it again, it's ok if you no longer want the free Facebook group you once created. Remember, no Facebook group is the boss of you! You started your business for YOU. Do not ever feel like you have to explain your decisions for the business you are working so hard for. If it's stealing your peace, it's too expensive! I want to give you some other optio
I was being interviewed recently and said that I believe crisis can catapult us into our calling. This was a new thought for me, but when I look at my life, I can see that big changes and shifts were often made in response to a crisis. I know people whose businesses and jobs are doing fine during this time. But I also know many who have lost their jobs or had to close their business. I want to take a few minutes to encourage you that this crisis can push you towards something even bigger...something better!
I want to give you a little gift. This is chapter 1 of my book, Fear Is Not the Boss of You. This book has been 4 years in the making and it is finally time to launch, even if it is in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. And maybe now is the time more than ever that people need this message about fear. Being overwhelmed, or stuck, or afraid does not have to be your story. There is a better way. Let me tell you about it.
I have had a word in my heart and I think this is the right time to share it. There are so many things right now that are dividing us as a society. Politics, opinions on COVID-19 and how to handle it, and so much more. It is all causing so much division. I want to remind us all that the fight is not with each other. The real fight is between good and evil, and it will be waged on our knees, not in comments on Facebook. I hope this episode is an encouragement to you!
With so many cities continuing Stay-at-Home orders, many of brick and mortar locations are having to temporarily close their doors. This podcast is featuring Stacy Tuschl, The Queen of Foot Traffic. She shares how owners of brick and mortars can take certain steps to help their business during this crazy time! If you know someone that has any kind of brick and mortar location, please share this podcast with them.
I wanted to start this morning off with a little bit of hope and positive thinking. I want to take a few minutes to find the silver lining. Everyone has a certain level of loss right now. We are all grieving something, but we also all kind find at least one silver lining. What will it be for you? What is something good being birthed out of the uncertain, crazy times?
I am not sure there has ever been a time when being flexible and making pivots has been more important than right now. In order to sustain through these unsettling times and any other craziness that is to come, you will need to look past the way you have always done things. Instead, find a new way, go a new direction. I want to give you some encouragement and inspiration as I share LOTS of ideas for all kinds of industries!
I want to take a moment today to give you some actionable steps and advice during the crazy and bizarre event we are living through right now. We can either look for peace or let ourselves spiral in panic. I want to help you fight for inner peace. I hope these tips help you look at what you are doing and make any changes that might be helpful during this time.
We are in some wild and crazy times right now. There are so many thoughts and feelings and fears and frustrations. I just wanted to take a few minutes in my little slice of the interwebs to talk a bit about how COVID-19 is affecting small businesses and give you some action steps you can take. I know this doesn't solve all the problems, but my hope is that it will be a few minutes of calmness and clarity during all the chaos. I am rooting for you! I know we can make it though especially if we come together!
Times are pretty crazy right now and people are handling it in so many different ways. But one thing I want us all to keep in check is pain-shaming or playing the hardship olympics. There is always someone worse off, but that doesn't mean your pain or fear or frustration or sadness isn't valid. Often times, people just want to be seen and heard. Listen as I share an experience from my week where I was pain shamed. I also got some great feedback and advice from you guys that I know to will be helpful!
If you have followed me for a hot minute, you know I am a firm believer of never putting all your eggs in one basket. When you use someone else’s platform to sell your goods, you have to follow their rules and their guidelines. And when they make changes to those rules, you have NO option but to follow along—even if those changes make a negative impact on your business that you have worked so hard to build! Let’s dive into what has happened on Etsy lately and what I think you should do about it!
Sometimes the enemy can use distraction to take your focus off where it needs to be. However, I think God can also use something in our lives as a way to distract us in a good way. Right now I am doing a liver detox and have been very distracted by focusing on the health and wellness of my family. The blessing is that it has prevented me from worrying and fretting over my conference and book tour. We can reframe distraction as a way to help us deal with worry and struggle!
The last Equipped speaker I want you to get to know is Jordan Lee Dooley. I learned so much already just in this short podcast episode. I can't wait to hear what she shares from the stage in just a few short weeks. She believes that you don't have to find your purpose, but instead, just need to learn how to implement what you already have! I love it and I know you will too!

So often what starts out as a hobby doing what we love, explodes into a business before we even know what happened. Then we are stuck trying to backpedal to make things right! That is why it is so important to get the business basics down right from the start and I want to help. Whether you are an intentional or accidental entrepreneur or maybe a not-quite-yet entrepreneur, this podcast is for you!
I just love it when God gives me a whole idea from something seemingly small like a workout move. I was trying to follow along with my Peloton app and was really making a mess of this particular exercise. Then the instructor said it was okay if we were struggling. She explained we were teaching our bodies how to recover quickly. Listen in as I unpack how we can use this concept in our businesses and lives. Let's look at how we can reframe stumbling or failing as training for success!
The next Equipped speaker I want you to meet is Jami Nato. Jami's story and message have it all—infidelity, loving the Lord, learning how to use pain to grow closer to God, using your unique talents and gifts and key tools in your business and more. You don't want to miss this episode where we talk about all these and you don't want to miss Jami's main stage speech at the Equipped Conference.

If you follow me on Instagram or YouTube, you know a few weeks ago I did some videos talking about how within 6 months I’ve lost half my hair. I am watching very closely what’s going on with the Deva Curl products and have become very invested. First, because of my own personal health and second, as a business person to see how they as a company handle this storm. There is a lot for us as business owners and consumers to learn here.
Have you ever entered a password and thought you have it right, but it didn't work? Or, do you remember old padlocks where you if you where just one tiny click off, the lock wouldn't open? I want you to think of what you have going on right now in life and business. Is it possible that maybe you have one thing out of alignment? Maybe there is one thing that you need to adjust and then everything else will fall into place. I have some questions to help you check your alignment.
This Friday I am introducing you to another new friend! Jaime Cross is has a faith that is so inspirational. Basically she asked God for a billion-dollar business idea and that is just what she got. But she first had to be faithful in the small like things, like spending a year learning how to make a bar of soap! You don't want to miss this great story!
There are so many unknowns as an entrepreneur—truly things we have no control over. I want to talk today about really focusing on the things we DO have control over in an effort to protect our businesses. These are 4 areas that I want you to assess and make sure you are doing everything you can to keep your business and revenue safe. There is no need to let these things go a day longer when there is so much at risk.
I have seen something several times lately that I am not okay with. It is people using someone's faith as a way to guilt or shame them into doing something. This form of manipulation should not be tolerated. It is not okay, and I want to give you permission to not be taken advantage of in this way. Instead, know what the Bible says and let that be what guides your decisions in life and business.
Another Friday, another Equipped Speaker intro. Lisa is a new friend that I absolutely cannot wait to meet in real life! On this special Friday episode, we talk all about a big theme in Lisa's life for this year and her most pivot experience of the last decade. Lisa also shares some info about her business and where it is going. I am happy to introduce you to Lisa Whittle!
You know how sometimes you just don't know what you don't know? There were certainly quite a few things I didn't know when writing my book, Fear Is Not the Boss of You. And because I want to help a sister out, I am giving you a peek behind the curtain to the 3 things I wish I had known before I started this process. I am also dishing out this history of how this whole dream started for me. Whether or not you hope to one day write a book or you just like to know the inside scoop, this episode is for you!
In the last few weeks, I have come across several women who are using their faith as an excuse to not grow their businesses and not have boundaries in their businesses. I am all for giving things away, like this podcast. But if you are not ever making money, it is a service or a ministry you are providing, not a business. Just because you love Jesus, does not mean you are to give everything away for free and not have any boundaries with your time and skills. I know this message is for someone, so listen in!
For the next few Fridays, I will be introducing some new friends—the emcee and speakers for my Equipped Conference! We are starting off with the emcee, Kelsey. Not only does she have some of the best curly hair EVER, she is also hilarious. In fact, her official, self-proclaimed job title is motivational comedian. Kelsey has a great story, loves the Lord, and is a super-smart businesswoman too. Let's get to know her!

I hope this is super helpful as you plan your content. Let's rock the algorithm, grow our page, and tell people what we are for all at the same time!
Have you ever noticed that the enemy is just waiting for you to gain momentum and get the courage to do something you know God wants you to do, only so he can put a stop to it? He will steal, kill, and destroy using discouragement! You need to be wise enough to recognize when this happens. You also need a strategy and an arsenal to not let the discouragement win. One of the best ways I have found to battle discouragement is to go to my vault of courage. Listen in as I share the details!
I absolutely love any time I get to interview my coaching clients who are killing it in the online space. I feel like such a proud mama. If you think you are ready for what is next in your business, here is a big hurdle you need to overcome—you cannot be scared to sell! Unfortunately, some of us (mostly women) attach our personal worth to our sales. Instead, we need to look at the data, make adjustments, and move on from each selling experience. We need to get a deep conviction that what we are selling has value, and it is our duty to share this with the world!

My pastor is a great man and he always says that God is a God of order and that order affects outcome. We have been focusing these Mondays in January on money mindset and specifically on Proverbs 13:22 that says a sinner's wealth is being stored up for the righteous. We need to do the right things in the right order to position ourselves to be in a place to receive that wealth. We need to get our business in order and get the order of our priorities in line first!
Interviewing Chalene Johnson is a dream come true. She has so much wisdom to share. She is real and relatable and an open book when talking about her journey in business and in health. She is a researcher and has lots of knowledge to share about brain health. She is also super-intentional as a wife and mom and a true inspiration. This was one of my favorite interviews and I know will bless all who listen!
One goal with this Money Mindset series is to help you position yourself in a way where you are ready to receive money and steward it well. In more than one place, the Bible says, "Out of the depths of the heart, the mouth speaks." This includes what we say about poverty and money. Simply changing "We can't afford that" to "We are choosing to spend our money differently" will make such a huge difference. What are things you say about money that you should reframe and reword?
Networking online is all about building relationships and connecting with others. There is so much value in having other business owners in your online circle of friends. Not only does it give you a support group and people to call on, but it also opens up lots of opportunities. The key is to start with a pure heart and good intentions and to let it happen organically. Let's talk more some keys of networking like networking outside your industry and networking with people that are where you want to be!
Proverbs 13:22 The wealth of the wicked is stored up for the just. Friends, this scripture had been on my heart lately. There is plenty of money to go around and it is being stored up somewhere. I want you to be ready for money to come to you and through you. So many women have been raised with misconceptions about money, and I want to spend the next several Mondays talking about money mindset to clear up these misconceptions. The first challenge I have for you is to refuse to have a poverty mindset.
Time is a key commodity to us all! As moms and wives and entrepreneurs, time management is a constant struggle. While I can't make more minutes in the day, I can give you some hacks to help you gain more freedom in your time this year! Gaining time will not only be great for your family and awesome for your business, but it will also allow you to have more margin in your life. When our days are so packed, be barely have time to breathe, how is God supposed to use us? Creating margin gives God room to work!
I have been praying over on my Facebook page every morning lately and God has given me a lot to share during these times. For those of you who have missed some of the messages or even for those who have been faithfully watching, we have compiled some of the highlights here for you on this podcast episode. Listen in to this highlight reel as I talk about perspective and reframing, what resistance can mean, how some of you may need to move on from something, and about the magic of margin!
Well, it is a holiday week and I hope you are geared up for...not a whole lot of work. My personal goal is to take 2 weeks off from work, and I give you permission to take off as much as you want as well. The clients will still be there, the work can wait, but this is a great time to get some order back in your life. Focus on your family and your faith so that when it is time, you can focus on your business, but have the right perspective. Let's take our foot off the gas for the holidays! Merry Christmas!!
I have someone I want to introduce to you this week. I heard her name several times recently and then we met in real life and I knew I wanted to have her on the show! Kelly Roach is doing business right! She is set to exceed $20M in 2020. If you are looking for hit seven figures or just want to be inspired by someone ahead of where you are, listen in. She shares about her biggest challenges when hit $1M, $5M, etc., gives us her predictions for business in 2020 and so much more!
I don't know about you, but when I have too many things going on in my head I feel very unsettled. This is especially true when there are lots of open, undecided issues. Sometimes, I just have to sit down with Jason and close some loops! It feels so good just to get things decided and settled. And, of course, it doesn't mean things can't change. It just means that decisions have been made so progress can occur! I want to give you some tips on how to close some loops in your life!
Is Black Friday becoming a non-event? What do the major retailers and analysts say? Well, malls were dead and foot traffic was down, but overall sales were up! Shopping habits are changing and we as small business owners have to respond. We need to give consumers lots of options and really be intentional in what we offer and how we market. Listen in as I share lots of stats and some keys things you need to do before the next Black Friday/Cyber Monday season!
I have women message on the regular looking for permission. It may be a new business idea or a change to what they are currently doing or just an idea they want to investigate, but they feel like they need to be told it is okay. While I am happy to grant them the permission they feel they need, I really want them to find it for themselves. If the Lord has given you an idea to implement or a message to share or a plan to pursue, you don't need anyone's permission. He already gave it to you!
There are 3 main reasons people get stuck in their lives and I have to tell you none of them are worth it. Today I want to talk more about being stuck, why it is happening, and what to do to break free and move on. when a car gets stuck in the mud, what do you do to get it out? You have to get some traction and start some motion. It is the same for you and me. We are not meant to be stuck, not doing what we are called to do!
So it turns out all those cliches like "Rome wasn't built in a day" and "You have to eat an elephant one bite at a time" are more than just cute sayings on a fortune cookie! Whatever big, hard, and scary thing you want to do, start by doing one thing today. What is one bite you can take? What is one step you can accomplish to move you in the direction you want to go? You don't have to see the whole picture or know all the things. Instead, just do the next right thing and keep repeating that!
So Instagram announced that they were taking away the likes...Now what? Well friends, for the most part, I could care less. Let's talk today about why Instagram is saying they are removing the likes and what I think the real reason is. As a mom, I am glad to remove that number as a way for my kids to find value and as a business owner, I have always known that number wasn't the most important metric all along. This is a great topic so let's dive in!
Some relationships you are in may be toxic, while others just may be coming to the end of their season. People are meant to be in your life for a season, a reason, or a lifetime. Do you have some relationships that are holding you back? You might have people in your life that are not ready to go with you where you are headed. Let's talk just a few minutes about looking at your relationships especially if you are moving a new direction or starting something new.
I recently closed down one of the revenue streams in my business that was making six figures! You may be thinking I am crazy, but what I know to be true is that when God tells me to do something, I need to be obedient—no matter what. My Paint Finish of the Month membership group was a lucrative part of my business for almost 5 years. In this episode I want to share all about it and why we closed the doors. Have you ever had something you were holding on to but was just not who you were anymore?
I was just talking some ladies that I coach and I had 2 different conversations about hiring help. After doing some digging, we figured out their issues. What I have found is that most often our hangups about hiring have more to do with us than the person we may hire. There are several reasons people hesitate when it comes to getting some help—they are probably not what you think. Listen in as I tell you what I think about getting some help in your business!
The is one of those times when I am going to hug with my words and also kick you in the butt a little too. I have women tell me all the time that they just need someone to push them. You shouldn't need someone to push you, instead, you need to act out of obedience and conviction. Self-governing, self-starting, and self-motivating—these do not come from others nagging you to do what you need to do. Listen in as I share 4 keys to finding motivation!
A few weeks ago, I had an opportunity to do something big, hard, and scary, and for someone who usually really watches her words, I kept saying how scared I was. I was quickly reminded to change my words to speak about how invigorating it was. My whole attitude changed. It is amazing the difference in mindset you can have when you do things like change your words. Listen in as I talk about other things you can do to have a courageous mindset when you are attempting big, hard, scary things!
I love the concept of leaving the ladder down—meaning leave a path for those behind you to follow in your success. As women, I think it is so important that we cheer each other on, help each other achieve big dreams, and teach each other what we have already learned. Not only should you be a mentor to others, but you should also seek out a mentor. It is a beautiful, biblical practice that includes mentorship, discipleship, and legacy-building!
What story do you have that plays in your head that may be totally wrong? Are you willing to challenge your thinking, try something new or different, and see if it results in a new mindset? For my entire life, I thought I was someone who couldn't wear heels. My mom didn't wear heels, I never tried them, I just thought they were not for me. Then, I was challenged to give them a try and now I LOVE heels! The heels represent something much bigger. Listen in as we dig deeper into false mindsets.
I had to record this bonus episode because I am 100% sure that many of you need to hear this right now—there is a great opportunity I don't want you to miss. I know that each of you has a message, a story to share with the world even if you haven't realized it yet. I want you to be ready when the time comes. This week is a big dose of encouragement. You may have this idea of how you want to meet with God. Maybe it involves coffee, a fire, a beautiful view—a totally Instragramable moment. And if you can't achieve that then you feel discouraged or don't even try. God just wants a relationship with you! And that will look different in the various seasons of your life. Find ways to give God what you can. Give Him something to work with so He can teach you and mold you and use you!
Fear is a feeling given to us by God to help keep us safe in certain situations. Fear is NOT an excuse to not do the thing that we know darn good and well we should be doing. Do a Facebook live, sign up for a 5K, quit the job, write the email, make the ask! You don’t need to get past your fear. Instead, process the feeling and then move on and do the thing! Listen as I talk about not letting fear be the boss of you!
Friends, think of all the things we teach our kids—sports, school subjects, driving, dancing, acting, and on and on. We pay good money for others to teach our kids all kinds of skills. I want to make sure we are teaching the next generation how to have courage and be obedient and the best way to do it to lead by example! Our children and generations to come will be transformed if they can start their lives knowing the importance of being courageous and how to be obedient.
There are so many numbers being shared all over the internet by entrepreneurs. Today I want to talk about the truth behind a lot of the numbers you hear and what numbers really matter. People talk about how many followers they have or how much they just made on a launch. But they don't tell you the truth like the fact that maybe they have horrible reach and engagement or that their expenses where ridiculous so they only kept 25% of launch income. Using big numbers in a vanity matrix truly does nothing for your business or your followers and potential clients. Let's talk more about the numbers we should be concerned with! If you are waiting for the perfect time, the perfect situation, the perfect anything, it is never going to happen! I love you enough to tell you this. What you are really doing waiting because you are scared. And the thing you are holding on to instead putting out into the world is likely something that someone else needs. And by you holding on to it you are preventing them from being able to move forward. Listen in as I break this down!
Fostering, adopting, or taking in a kid in need is hard and rewarding and a blessing and sanctifying. It brings so many emotions that you have to learn to navigate. Rebekah Lyons and Edie Wadsworth are two amazing women who have been navigating life with a bonus kid and are rocking it! The 3 of us have all added a young child to our families in the last year. Would you love a big dose of momentum in your business? Are you ready for where that momentum could take you? Momentum is the combination of speed and force and can be responsible for big things happening. However, you can't buy it or orchestrate it. You, instead, must pray and prepare for it! Then when it comes you have to be ready to go where it takes you. Listen in as I talk more about momentum in business!!!
Sweet Ari has been with us for one year! What started out as a sleepover has turned into a life-changing event for our whole family. On this week's podcast, Mr. Magic and I sat down to share how we have navigated taking in a child that comes from hard places. We talk about what we have learned, what we wish we knew, and what the future holds. Please share this episode with anyone who you think it could bless. It has for sure not been an easy road for us, but it has been so worth it!!!
There is a lot of talk these days about "the universe" and a "higher power.” This trend is a way for some entrepreneurs to appeal to more people. But listen, friends, we are not called to be all things to all people. Instead, be 100% honest about who you are and what you believe. Don’t afraid or ashamed and don’t water it down. Listen in as we discuss this more! I also have a challenge for you this week. Report back and let me know what you think!
Social media has made growing a business online easier than ever before. But if you want social media to serve you well, you have to have a certain level of vulnerability in your posts and on your feed. I know it is scary. I know some of you are fearful of what will happen when you put yourself out there. Spoiler alert—you will get negative feedback and of course it will hurt and upset you! BUT you will also get a larger following, devoted fans, and so much more in return. Lots talk more about...
Last week something happened…I was triggered by a Facebook comment. AND I took the bait and replied! Guys, I know better, but this is a lesson I still sometimes have to revisit and I bet some of you do too. When we feel attacked and embarrassed we can be triggered to react. Instead, we should see areas where we may need to grow and let God handle the rest.
Have you ever thought about being an author? Have you ever wondered what process to follow? I am talking with my friend, Brian Dixon, about the 6 steps to take to go from being a writer to an author. He not only has a fascinating story but also amazing advice on everything from how to best use your time to mending broken relationships. We are also talking about his new book, Start With Your People. It will remind you relationships are key and knowing, loving, and serving your people is where it all begins.
Recently I was very convicted about something I have said many times to my kids. I have often asked them to "be easy." But the Holy Spirit showed me there is something better than being easy—instead, I should say be obedient and be holy. As an easy adult who was an easy child, I am realizing that being easy has led to being a people-pleaser. My conviction is that we are called to be holy, which may look like standing up or speaking out! Where this week do you need to be holy instead of being easy?
Have you ever wanted to get to a certain goal, but it just takes so long that you are ready to give up? And meanwhile, it seems like all those around you are just flying achieving goals left and right. I have been trying to reach 1 million downloads on this podcast for 2.5 years! Six months ago I didn't think it would happen, so I doubled down my efforts and look where I am now! We made it! I want you to find the enCOURAGEment to keep going. You have no idea how close you are to a break though!
There are times in our lives when God closes a door and pushes you to a new season. When that happens, we need to purge the things of the past—old ways of thinking, old tools, old habits. We also need to be very aware of people who may try to keep us stuck or suck us back into our old season. If you know darn good and well that you are ready for a new season, listen in close! My hope is that this is just the encouragement you need to make it happen!!
