Ron Hubbard created a religion that promotes self power, claiming followers have supernatural abilities. There is no praying, worshiping, or god. There is only believing that they are god like. This mentality is established from the very beginning auditing process. This mentality, Karen explains, changes how followers handle conflict. This is all part of “the con”. These are the “steps of the bridge”, as recruits unknowingly surrender control of their free will.Pressley had worked her way up the ladder as a recruiter, and into the ranks of the Sea Organization. which the Church of Scientology describes as a "fraternal religious order, comprising the church's most dedicated members" All Scientology management organizations are controlled exclusively by members of the Sea Org. David Miscavige, the de facto leader of Scientology, is the highest-ranking Sea Org officer, holding the rank of captain.She, at one point, was a celebrity recruiter. We hear about her run-ins with big celebrities at the time, such as Frank Stallone, John Travolta, Mimi Rogers, Paul Haggis, Jason Beghe, Leah remini, Nicole Kidman, and Katies Holmes. Shockingly enough, she remembers trying to recruit Cher.The most dangerous element of leaving Scientology, Pressley describes, is the strict policies in place for those who leave. The religion created the “Fair Game” policy, which was the church’s self-proclaimed right to defend itself from those they see as a threat to their religion. After trying to leave the church once, she was transferred to the RPF The Rehabilitation Project Force, or RPF, is the Church of Scientology's program for members of its Sea Organization who have allegedly violated expectations or policies. During her second attempt to leave, her husband did not want to join her. And that was the last time they saw each other. They were forced to divorce by mail. And her husband, despite his willingness to stay, was put in dreaded “Hole” (a place of confinement and humiliation).
