    Each year nearly 800,000 people experience a new or recurrent stroke, and a stroke happens every 40 seconds. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. It is caused by disease of the blood vessels leading to the brain or within the brain. If you or a loved one was suffering from a stroke, would you know what to look for? Would you know what to do? Up to 80 percent of strokes can be prevented. If you believe that you or someone else is suffering from stroke get medical attention immediately. Proper treatment within the first 90 minutes could mean the difference between, life, death, permanent disability or full recovery.
