It's been over 30 years since the car chase that resulted in one of the most infamous and well known use of force cases in history. I was just beginning my career with the California Highway Patrol in March of 1991. A year later, I was on the front lines in South Los Angeles during the Rodney King riots. My brother, who was a Los Angeles City Firefighter at the time, joins me as we share our collective memories of one America's most destructive and deadly periods of civil unrest.
