danah boyd’s It’s Complicated: the social lives of networked teens (2014) is so much more than a defence of how “the kids are alright”. It is also one of the most perceptive studies about what the internet has actually changed for teens (and society at large), and what has remained the same. Never alarmist and always insightful, boyd brilliantly untangles these puzzles.
