The graphic novel Gender Queer got caught up in two different news stories at the same time - that started to blend together as the months went on.
First, the book sparked controversy when some parents complained to public libraries. That led to questions about book bans at public libraries vs public schools.
Second, NC Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson responded to LQBTQIA issues covered in the book. Can he separate personal beliefs from public policy? And should voters consider both?
