Hello there! May God bless you and all those you hold most dear always. Thank you for joining us for worship today. This morning Pastor Michael will be sharing a message with us from our new Fall sermon series, "Living Beyond the Box", titled, "Living Abundant," utilizing our readings for today from John 15:1-17 (NIV) (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John 15%3A1-17&version=NIV) and Psalm 22:25-31 (NIV) (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm 22%3A25-31&version=NIV).
Also in worship today, we will be singing some songs, lifting prayers, and joining together in liturgy. And do not worry, all of the information you need can be found by visiting https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1oQfvMREhgK5zIuLEcev9enTA6T49baQM?usp=sharing where you can download a PDF version, named with the date of the service it goes along with. From time-to-time there may be additional inserts or content for certain services, so make sure to check out every file with the same date for today's service. And don't forget to keep an eye out on our Facebook for more updates to come!
We would also like to extend our deepest thanks to those who continue to help support our church and ministries through their time, their talents, their prayers, and their tithes. You can also reach out via our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stonycreekumc), church email ([email protected]), or call the church office (734-482-0240) to learn about other ways you can support the ministries done in our faith community. As you are watching online, if you ever have any questions, or just want to chat, please jump into the chat alongside the video feed on Facebook. There are almost always a few folks already there and happy to talk/chat with you!
One last thing (we know this is a LOT of information). You, YES YOU, are a beautiful child of God, made in God's image, which means a few critical things. One, you are a beloved sibling with us through Jesus Christ and his sacrifice to save the world. Two, you are loved unconditionally by God and there is nothing you can ever do to change that or stop it. Three, you will always be welcome at Stony Creek United Methodist Church (in-person or online). You do not have to be a United Methodist, a member of any other denomination, baptized, or ever a Christian. We love you whether you are rich or poor, young or old, no matter your social standing, your cognitive or physical abilities, if you have tattoos or colored hair, how you identify or who you love, we will love you just as you are! All we ask is when you are with us to try to show that same love and acceptance to others. We know that people will not always agree on everything, but we believe that we can disagree about certain things and still love one another. We want everyone to feel welcomed and a part of our faith community in whatever ways they are comfortable to do so, but we will not condone words or actions of hatred, oppression, or injustice towards others because of their sexual orientation, sexual identity, race, ethnicity, or any other part of their identity. If any of this goes against your current beliefs, we simply ask that you find another place of worship that better aligns with your beliefs, or if you think you can, open yourself and your heart to some conversations that may lead you to change your mind, your beliefs, and your understandings about the world and about God's love.
We pray that you always feel the love and grace of God in you, around you, and everywhere you go, and that you find Stony Creek UMC to be a safe, accepting, and open space where you are always welcomed just as you are!

Hey there! God bless you and all those you hold most dear. Thank you for joining us for worship today. After three rather challenging weeks working through the Book of Lamentations, Pastor Michael has decided to move on to something new for this week and next week. What things do you know about the Book of James? What questions do you have about James' and his writings? Well, come and join us online or in-person to find out where this new journey takes us!

Hey there! The Book of Lamentations can be a challenging read due to the depressing tone and horrific reality of the people described in it. And not that every single Scripture passage will be (or should be) warm and fuzzy, but there does need to be some sense of balance so that we do not fall into a depressive state ourselves. The good news? This week you will notice a bit of a shift and maybe even some flickers of hope for the people left in the kingdom, and some things we can carry with us today, too. Today, in the third week of our message series on the Book of Lamentations, we dive into Lamentations 3, with a specific focus on verses 22-33. What happens in those 11 verses you might be wondering? Stay tuned to learn more!

Hey there! Have you ever read through the Book of Lamentations in the Bible? Have you ever heard the word lamentation? It is definitely not one that seems to get used all too often, at least where we live. But this book covers part of the history of the Isrealites, their feelings about what was going on, and even how they felt about and understood their relationship with God. Today will be the second week of a new sermon series by Pastor Michael called, "The Book of Lamentations". Using Scripture from Lamentations 2, NIV (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Lamentations%202&version=NIV).

One last thing we know this is a LOT of information. We want you, YES YOU, are a beautiful child of God, made in God's image, which means a few critical things. One, you are a beloved sibling with us through Jesus Christ and his sacrifice to save the world from sin. Two, you are loved unconditionally by God and there is nothing you can ever do to change that or stop it. Three, you will always be welcome at Stony Creek United Methodist Church (in-person or online). You do not have to be a United Methodist, a member of any other denomination, baptized, or ever a Christian. We love you whether you are rich or poor, young or old, no matter your social standing, your cognitive or physical abilities, if you have tattoos or colored hair, we will love you just as you are! All we ask is when you are with us to try to show that same love and acceptance to others. We know that people will not always agree on everything, but we believe that we can disagree about certain things and still love one another. We want everyone to feel welcomed and a part of our faith community in whatever ways they are comfortable to do so, but we cannot condone words or actions of hatred, oppression, or injustice towards others because of their sexual orientation, sexual identity, race, ethnicity, or really any other reason. If any of this goes against your current beliefs, we simply ask that you consider finding another place of worship that better aligns with your beliefs, or if you think you can, open yourself and your heart to some conversations that may lead you to change your mind, your beliefs, or your understandings about the world and about God's love.
We pray that you have a wonderful day, that you always feel the love and grace of God in you, around you, and everywhere you go, and we hope that you find Stony Creek United Methodist Church to be a safe, accepting, and open space where you are always welcomed just as you are!

Good morning and welcome to Stony Creek United Methodist Church's Sunday morning worship service! God's blessings to you, and those you love and hold most dear. We pray that this new year will be full of joy, wonderful memories, opportunities to grow and learn, and filled with all of the things that bring you joy and happiness! We also want you to know that we hold no expectations on how much (or little) you may choose to participate in our service, whether online or in-person. We want you to always feel comfortable and safe. In this faith community we believe that ALL people are made in the image of God, and therefore, beautiful just the way they are. We also believe, that being made in the image of God and loved unconditionally by God, that you are also a child of God and a sibling of Jesus Christ. You, yes you, are always and forever worthy of being, mercy, grace, and love! God's perfect love ensures these things and there is nothing you can ever do to separate yourself from God's love, or make God ever leave you.
Today in worship, Pastor Michael will be sharing a message with us from our current Summer sermon series, "Haba-Who?: Habakkuk, A Study of God's Unexpected Work", titled, "Song of Praise to Yahweh," utilizing our readings for today from Habakkuk 3:1-19 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Habakkuk+3%3A1-19&version=NIV) and Psalm 32:1-7 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+32%3A1-7&version=NIV). We will also be singing some songs, sharing in liturgy (it's all in the bulletin at the link below), and lifting some prayers.
If you ever have any questions, or just want to chat, please jump into the chat alongside the video feed on Facebook. And, if you would like a copy of the bulletin for the service, please visit https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1oQfvMREhgK5zIuLEcev9enTA6T49baQM?usp=sharing where you can download a PDF version, named with the date of the service it goes along with.
