By mid-August of 1944, the Allied Armies were thundering towards the Seine River and Paris. Charles de Gaulle, leader of the Free French, convinced General Eisenhower to allow French troops to liberate the city. French Armored Divisions entered Paris on August 25. After more than four years, Paris and France were liberated.
