Zak Stein is a philosopher of education and the author of the book Education in a time between worlds.
Zak Stein is also a co-founder of the Consilience Project, a new non-profit media organization that aims
to help catalyze a cultural movement toward higher-quality sensemaking
(https://consilienceproject.org/).
We talked about education after covid and the need for decentralized educational hubs, that can serve
as metaphorical backup generators and close the education gap in times of crisis such as current
pandemics. We are amid a broader paradigm shift from Enlightenment, underpinned by the invention of
a printing press, into something new, underpinned by global internet and digital technologies.
We discussed the ideas of John Amos Comenius, one of the greatest educators in history, who lived
during the turmoil of Thirty Years' War, believed in a civilizing function of education, and inspired
modern universal and human-centred education and the Enlightenment institutions such as Royal
Society.
