Matthew Boynton grew up in the UK and was never much of a student. He always found himself wanting to be elsewhere and use his time for things other than sitting in lectures. However, at university, he met a girl from Tokyo. Knowing he wanted to travel upon graduation, he decided that the skill he could offer was that he was in fact a native English speaker and plenty of countries would pay him for that. Off to South Korea he went. A year later, he was in Tokyo with the same girl from university and the rest is history. After teaching for 10 years he decided it was time to make a change and try out the world of beer. He started from square one again and eventually opened up with his business partner, Daniel Bellamy, Sakamichi Brewing.
