Two and a half years ago, I discovered ‘Black Christmas’ movies and I fell in love with this genre of movie. I love the genre because of the characters and how the love stories are full of depth and texture. It reminds me so much of my daily interactions with love and romance in Black spaces.

Separation from family and friends during ’Pandemic 2020’ has made me feel empty and unable to socialize. In March, I started buying flowers as a way of adding a little bit of outside in my home. I would sip my boozy coffee while thinking about how much an ambivert like me missed chatting with people and absorbing their energy. After weekly posts of my coffee and flowers, my network encouraged me to create a space in which we can chat and reconnect the way we do over cocktails. Thus, ’Weekend Coffee Guh’ was born.
