Tom Johnson has lived many lives in golf.
A standout junior player from Northern California, Tom went on to play college golf at Northwestern alongside future world #1 Luke Donald before turning professional and competing on the PGA Tour. After years grinding on tour and chasing the next level, golf eventually stopped being fun.
In this first part of our conversation, Tom shares the story behind his journey through competitive golf — from junior tournaments and college golf to the realities of professional life on tour. Along the way, we talk about burnout, identity, and the moment Tom realized something deeper in his life needed to change.
Tom also opens up about the path that led him to sobriety and the perspective recovery gives him on golf, competition, and life.
Part 2 of our conversation continues next week.
