Low-code technology helped build 75 percent of all enterprise software in 2021, according to Forrester and Gartner analysts. In fact, according to a 2021 Siemens survey, 75 percent of IT leaders say the no-code/low-code trend is something their organisation cannot afford to miss.
Hanna Hennig, CIO at Siemens, talks about how digital technology – which is transforming society – needs low-code and no-code. This is especially true in manufacturing, where 80 percent of tasks can now be automated.
With this level of automation comes a fivefold demand for developers, she says. And this has led to the rise of what is known as the citizen developer – an employee who develops apps for use by themselves and others on their team. Low-code techniques give programming skills to non-professional developers.
Hanna was speaking on the FullSTK stage at Web Summit 2021.
