NXIVM was a cult started by former Amway employee Keith Raniere and financed by Seagram’s liquor heirs. Members thought they were in a program about self-realization and enlightenment, but it turned out to be a cover-up for sex slavery and racketeering. Smallville actress Allison Mack was recruited, and she eventually ran a secret society called DOS where women were branded and forced to give collateral which would be used as blackmail. Also, Roger Stone worked as a consultant for NXIVM in 2008.INTERVIEW: Sarah Lund went to high school with Allison Mack and talks about what she was like, and her yearbook quote.&nbsp;—EMAIL US: <a href="mailto:Webcrawlerspod@gmail.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Webcrawlerspod@gmail.com</a>LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL: <a href="https://create.acast.com/episodes/67f831cf-bed5-4281-856a-1114fa32277c/626-604-6262" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">626-604-6262</a>__JOIN OUR DISCORD: <a href="https://discord.com/invite/VNGJnHr" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://discord.com/invite/VNGJnHr</a>—FOLLOW US:&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/webcrawlerspod" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Twitter</a> / <a href="https://instagram.com/webcrawlerspod" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Instagram</a> / <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/WebCrawlersPodcast/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Reddit</a> / <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/338199396779277" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Facebook</a>—JOIN OUR PATREON: <a href="https://www.patreon.com/webcrawlers" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">HERE</a>—MERCH: <a href="https://webcrawlerspod.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://webcrawlerspod.com</a>—Support this show <a target="_blank" rel="payment" href="http://supporter.acast.com/webcrawlers">http://supporter.acast.com/webcrawlers</a>.<hr> Hosted on Acast. Ali Segel and Melissa Stetten discuss pop culture, TV, viral stories, unsolved mysteries, creepy cults, scammers, and everything unsettling in between. “They maintain a loose, upbeat dynamic as they fall down rabbit holes, which means listeners can comfortably dip their toes into the deeply unsettling and unexplained, but won’t walk away feeling, well, haunted.” (Vanity Fair, 2020)Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/webcrawlers.
