Fiber artist and weaver Consuelo Jimenez Underwood is the daughter of migrant agricultural workers, a Chicana mother and a father of Huichol descent. In our conversation, we discuss Consuelo's dreams of becoming an artist as a child working in the fields, why she insisted on making a space for weaving as art in academia, her series of works commemorating the people who lose their lives crossing the highways near the border between Mexico and California, and so much more.
