Amy spent over thirty five years working as an advocate for victims of crime. In2015 she retired from the Vermont Department of Corrections where she servedas the Director of Victim Services during which time she worked directly withcrime victim survivors and offenders. She developed programs to address theirneeds using many Positive Psychology and restorative justice principles. Beforeassuming that role, she spent twenty years as the Executive Director of severaldifferent domestic violence/sexual assault agencies in Tennessee and NorthCarolina where she also and worked as a victim’s advocate in policedepartments in Nashville and Chapel Hill.After “retirement” Amy became an adjunct professor of psychology at NorthernVermont University where she teaches Positive Psychology. She is also anassistant instructor for the Masters in Positive Psychology program at theUniversity of Pennsylvania. In addition she is the Bat/Bar Mitzvah coordinator ofher synagogue where she gets to incorporate positive education principles whileworking with students and parents during the preparation process.She is currently the chair of the Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union Schoolboard, in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont where she is working to incorporatepositive educational principles into administrative/leadership practices.Amy graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Religion and received herMSW from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work with aspecialization in criminal and juvenile justice. She received her Masters inApplied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. Hermasters capstone focused how survivors of adverse events, such as a crime, canthrive in the aftermath through a process called post-traumatic growth.
