SCOTUS Punts Illinois 2A case

The Supreme Court declined to intervene in a case challenging Illinois' "assault weapons" ban, leaving it to move through the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. This decision means that the current ban remains in place while the legal process continues. For gun owners, this delay maintains the status quo and keeps the ban in effect, potentially affecting their ability to purchase and own certain firearms until a final ruling is made.

Self Defense in CO

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment analyzed 5,287  firearm-related deaths in Colorado from 2016 to 2020. Of those deaths, the vast majority, 73.6%, were suicides. 24.9% were homicides/assaults (about 1316). Of the homicides, 24.7% were justifiable self-defense (about 325).

Newspaper blames FFL for Hunters lies

USA TODAY blamed a Delaware gun shop for Hunter Biden's illegal purchase of a .38 Special Colt Cobra revolver, claiming the shop violated federal law by accepting his non-resident ID. The defense argued in court that the shop was not responsible for Biden's deceit on the ATF Form 4473, which he falsely filled out, concealing his drug use. This situation affects gun owners by highlighting the scrutiny and legal challenges gun shops face, emphasizing the importance of compliance with federal regulations.

CA tax challenged

The NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, and other groups filed a lawsuit challenging California's 11% excise tax on firearm and ammunition sales, imposed by Assembly Bill 28. They argue that this tax, which raises the cost for consumers, infringes on Second Amendment rights and seek to have it declared unconstitutional. This legal battle could significantly impact gun owners in California by either maintaining the increased costs or potentially removing the tax burden if the lawsuit succeeds.

Americans be buying them guns

Over the past 59 months, Americans have purchased over 1 million guns each month, maintaining a consistent trend of high firearm sales. This surge reflects ongoing demand for firearms, driven by factors such as self-defense concerns, political climate, and uncertainties. For gun owners, this indicates a robust market and potentially increased support for Second Amendment rights.
