They cover a lot of ground: the different roles Maren has held on her way to this position, why the best talent evaluators are upfront about what they're actually looking for instead of playing it close to the vest, and why there's no substitute for watching soccer — a lot of it, at every level. That last point matters more than people think: spotting a late bloomer who hasn't hit their growth spurt yet, or separating a kid who's just bigger and faster right now from one with real long-term potential, is one of the hardest parts of the job.
