Waiting to X-hale
Waiting to X-hale
Karen Tongson and Wynter Mitchell-Rohrbaugh
A Gen X-themed show with podcast veterans Wynter Mitchell-Rohrbaugh and Karen Tongson (Pop Rocket). W2X revisits the pop culture & social issues that defined Generation X from a (queer) woman-of-color perspective in a way that sheds new light on the pop culture from both then, and now.

Girl. You are right.
I. Have. Mussed.Ya’ll. So.Much. Long time Pop Rocket Fan. Not plugged into Apples’s algorhythm obviously, cause I just found you. I have been binging you all week. Yay! Glad to have you back in my life. And girl, you are right. I hated the theme song and then.....

Boomers should listen
Followed these smart women from their previous show. WtE is good for the brain and the soul.

Please stop yelling
I really like what the ladies have to say, but does Wynter realize that she’s yelling directly into our ears? And she interrupts too much. I really love Dr. Tongson’s insights and would like to hear her out. Please fix the sound levels
For indescribable delight and intellectual stimulation tune in to this brilliant conversation. Karen & Wynter and Guests always make me chuckle and think or think and chuckle. Smartest. Queerest. Best!
Better than great.
Love Karen & Wynter's insight on all pop culture. I was crushed when their past podcast was so rudely ripped from our feeds. Thank goodness Waiting to X-Hale quickly came along to bring me all the pop culture news and analysis I need.

This Show!!!
I can’t live without it!!!
My Sisters from Others Misters!
These women rock! They’re intelligent, funny, vulnerable, honest storytellers. Hearing other perspectives from Gen X women makes me feel less alone. I love you two ladies!
Yea! They’re back!
Missed you both! GREAT episode on Just one of the Guys.
Just found it!
So glad to be listening to Karen Tongson again. As a Filipino American our voices are often not heard. I can’t wait to hear her take on a variety of topics. She’s always insightful, intelligent and funny.

Intelligent, entertaining, and delightful
Listening to Karen and Wynter is like being part of a great conversation with your friends. I listened to Poprocket and I’m so glad that I can continue my weekly meet up with these ladies.
Spiritual Gen-X
White woman born in 1962, grew up in HB CA, moved to Seattle for college. I’m married to a for real baby boomer and I say without hesitation that I am Gen-X. I was there for the launch of MTV and was going to punk/grunge shows before grunge was a thing. I heard about you listening to Keep It! and very much enjoy your podcast. I hope I’ve somewhat justified my Gen-X bonafides. Thanks for an enjoyable hour!

Wynter and Karen 4 life
2 wonderful, intelligent, bright, engaged women wax poetic on the 90’s. What more could you ask for?
So not alone
Was so overwhelmed with loneliness after Pop Rocket was done. I don’t have any friends where I live. Certainly no friends that consume content as unabashedly and thoughtfully as these two. This podcast activates my brain, makes me laugh, and definitely makes me feel like I have friends again. This is just an all around effing delightful podcast.
Very happy that I still get to listen to Karen and Wynter every week
Best part of the week
I wait for this podcast every week, and am never disappointed. This is the first podcast that seems designed just for my tastes: intersectional, queer, irreverent, cross-cultural critique with great music and a sense of humor. Thank you for making this happen, Karen and Wynter!
Millenial fan over here
Karen and Wynter are true pop culture experts, and they make this a really fun listen. They are covering everything my friends with older siblings were appalled I hadn't seen AND new things I am too old to know about. These are my pop culture elders and I am here to learn!!!
This show is a goddamn delight
Wynter and Karen are so good at this. It’s two pals making sense of each other’s worlds while both having a deep bench of references. I legit LOLed at their discussion of Robbie Neville’s “C’est la Vie.” These are two true pros who know how to balance deep dives with a conversational tone. If you are into 80s and 90s pop culture—and you miss a Certain Show That Was Unreasonably Canceled—listen to and support this program. 5/5!

I love love love this show. So happy that Karen & Wynter are back. Their insight brings me joy. 💜💜💜 Elaine/TFALPodcast
My favorites are back!
Have enjoyed these two wonderful people for a long time and very happy they’re back on the pods. The discussions are so fun and as someone who remembers much of the era, there a nostalgia itch being scratched in the most tingly way. Only thing missing is a mood-of-the-day “hello hello!” and a sultry “hi exhalers”. Wynter and Karen are the best!
A treat!
Love that this isn’t just a nostalgia bath for Olds (note: I am an Old). Instead, Karen and Wynter take you on trips through time, connecting the Pop of the past to that of our current moment. A treat!
These two could read the phone book and I’d show up for it, but this podcast is exactly what I needed.
There’s a place for us!
As a Pop Rocket fan I was DE-VA-STAT-ED when that show went off the air. But I didn’t have to wait long to keep hearing the incisive pop culture commentary I’d come to love. Karen and Wynter, two of the MOST sparkling, fascinating, witty, real, and fabulous voices from that show have branched out on their own to bring us W2X and as a newly-minted Gen Xer (b. 1979 and told until 5 minutes ago that I was NOT a Gen Xer) I could not be more delighted to have their brains and voices back in my headphones. More, more, more!

Two episodes in and loving it
From the flames of the old pop rocket podcast come rising out two heroes to save the day. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll hiccup and belch. Oh and learn new slang words you never thought could exist. Fill your ear holes with the brilliance that is this excellent podcast.
Love it!!
I’m so glad to have Wynter and Karen in my earbuds again! They have such great discussions and points of view, and bring such fresh energy to stuff from my tweenage & teenage years that I’d forgotten I loved.

Go Wynter and Karen!
Colorado Gen X
As much as I loved Pop Rocket I can't help be happy that Karen Tongson and Wynter Mitchell-Rohrbaugh are now free to start this amazing podcast. I may be biased as they are pandering to my demographic (class of 86) but I love their deep dives into Gen-X culture. Both hosts bring a depth of pop culture knowledge and a love of the material that is so refreshing in a world of jaded podcasts hosted by bored straight white dudes. Rock on X-halers!

So much fun!!
Adore these two hosts. Fun as hell!
Insightful pop cultre from a Gen-X perspective
Wynter Mitchell-Rohrbaugh and Karen Tongson, two of the four co-hosts of Pop Rocket, are back with a pop culture podcast delving into the latest news and '90s-era cultural touchstones from a Generation-X point of view. Funny, thoughtful analysis from two women who are glued to the culture and have an affable passion for the popular.
Hello Hello
Have loved Karen and Wynter for years. Can’t wait for this new chapter to continue to unfold.
A Worthy Successor To Pop Rocket
I was an avid fan of Pop Rocket and was so disheartened when it was cancelled. So it makes me so happy that two of its co-hosts have made their own new show. “Waiting To X-Hale” is a great take on pop culture from a WOC Gen-X perspective. It’s smart, funny and insightful. And Karen & Wynter have fantastic chemistry. Check it out!
Two wonderful women, one podcast
The work that these two cultural commentators did on their previous podcast was extraordinary. I expect no less this time around. Subscribe and wait for the magic every week in your feed! Welcome back!
Hi-Coloni Anderson
Thank you ladies!
Thank you for coming back into my Honda CR-V speakers and getting me to my errands with style and grace. I needed you!
Love Karen, Wynter, and this Podcast!
These ladies are insightful, witty, educated, funny, honest, realistic, and their banter and rapport make the podcast a great one. There isn’t really another Podcast like this. The wait is over!
eXcellent & eXtraordinary
I was an eXtreme fan of the hosts’ prior venture, Pop Rocket Podcast, which was aXed by MaXimum UnFun network. I’m so eXhilarated to hear these two eXalted women back at it again. XoXo.

They’re back!
So glad to hear from my two favorite Pop Rocketers again! Down with Troy Dyer!
I wait with bated breath no more
Intelligent. Passionate. Funny. No, this isn't their Tinder profile but you do need to swipe right for this podcast. I've been listening to KT and WMR for a while, and when it comes to pop culture they are my point of view I didn't even know I had. Hits all the quadrants. So excited to have this in my regular rotation.
Love Karen!
I miss pop rocket dearly, it's great to have Karen and wynter back!
LOVE this pop culture pod!
I am floored by how much pop culture know-how Wynter and Karen have just waiting to be flipped out from their utility belts. Not only have I learned so much about the pop culture I grew up with, but I also laugh a ton listening to their amazing back and forth. They’re so fun and witty—I really feel like I’m listening to two super smart friends talk about all the things I love. This is my new favorite podcast!

Two of the most fun, intelligent, generous, hilarious voices in pop culture together and giving their genius to the masses!! I love hearing their thoughts on anything and everything. Pure gold.
Delicious dives into pop's past
Two of the certified divas from the late, lamented Pop Rocket Podcast, Wynter Mitchell Rohrbaugh and Karen Tongson, team up once again to look at pop culture through a Gen X perspective. (I might classify them as more borderline GenX/GenY, but this is an inexact science at best.) A great mix of personal reminiscence and pop scholarship, this is a show that will have you digging out old albums and rethinking your take regarding your teenage faves. Smart, snappy discussion -- check it out!
