Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve is Summerfield's blustering Water Commissioner -- long on confidence, short on follow-through, and never quite as impressive as he believes he is. In this November 1952 outing, Gildy's run at a golf championship is thrown into chaos by an overbearing houseguest who needles him into a challenge he has no business accepting. As always, wounded pride does far more damage than any sand trap.
