When Isaac was at Duke Divinity School, he had a professor send an email about why diversity training is bad that said the job of a theologian is not to be concerned with the problems of the world but to be thrumming like a taut wire in their office. What does this have to do with today’s episode? Because, as always, we’re absolutely thrumming to talk about masculinity — today, in the context of “the violent liturgy of Alabama Football,” as it was described in a questionable take (one of many) from far-right Catholic journal First Things.
